Wow - that SpongeBob must have taken quite a bit of time to assemble! Shame I cannot run it on a real machine - 320KB is my largest. Stephen Anderson

C64 sure looks better in this shot. The rest looks pretty much equal. Stephen Anderson

I still have my two original Spectravision SVI-102 Plus sticks from the late 80s. Microswitches, and auto-fire plus 2 triggers (wired as one, one for thumb, one for index finger). *** Edited for size - sorry about that *** Stephen Anderson

Very nice! I am more interested in that Covox board! Do you have those produced yet? Stephen Anderson

Good news! I'm trying to hit Darkforce on a regular basis again. Stephen Anerson -
WHat are some ways of making multi-colored sprites?
Stephen replied to Tyrop's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
yep, you can do things like this: (P/M are the vertical bars) or this: (P/M gives the colors) NRV the Tetris looks good! no flickering? only by GPRIOR? that is cool... so many untapped features... That Tetris looks awesome. Are there restrictions on where colors can appear? Can you explain how the screen works? Stephen Anderson -
Thanks for the demo - phenomenal work guys! I'll definitely be buying a copy (from Lance). Stephen Anderson

Excellent! Thanks guys. Downloading now. See - I did get something new for Atari this year. Stephen Anderson

You get some interesting sounds out of PoKey! Stephen Anderson

Looks great so far! Stephen Anderson

Merry XMas everyone! I added some amazing stuff to my Atari collection in 2007, but sadly nothing this year. I shall have to correct that in the new year. Stephen Anderson

Those 2 examples are amazing! I love my Atari, but no way in hell could PoKey do either of those. I really don't care about the sprite differences, but I really do miss a hi-res color mode for no other reason than wanting a color 80-column ANSI terminal. Ice-T XE is great, but it's mono. Very nice! How do people keep squeezing more out of this 30 year old machine?!? Stephen Anderson

I was on Darkforce and Insidce the 8-bit not too long ago. Inside got a new member recently. Stephen Anderson -
Controllers made for a certain particular game?
Stephen replied to CV Gus's topic in Homebrew Discussion
I built a custom rotary controller (using an optical encoder) so I could properly play Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar. I also built a (rather large) arcade stick for the Jaguar. It had an 8-way digital stick, the 8 buttons the pro-controller provided (A,B,C,X,Y,Z,L,R) and separate small buttons for the complete number pad and pause/option). I got all the parts from Happ controls. Unfortunately, the optical encoder I used has been unavailable for years. Stephen Anderson -
Very nice! I noticed when reading the info on "ARC" and hitting space to skip a page at a time, the last page never stops printing to the screen. It repeata a bunch of hearts (IIRC ATASCII code 0) then says Associate. I have to hit the break key to stop it. When doing a MAN CLS after the last line, I get a bunch of garbage characters. The datestamp on CAR:MAN.COM is 11-11-06, with a filesize of 1537 bytes. Stephen Anderson

Here is one more reason the VBXE is on my hust have list. Stephen Anderson

Did they really ship in P:R: boxes? I was never able to get a Catbox. Stephen Anderson

Does Atari BASIC require an "END" or "ENDPROG" command? No - it recognizes the END keyword, but it is not required. Stephen Anderson

It makes for quite a nice tech demo if you set it to CPU vs CPU Stephen Anderson

Yes - as far as I know, this is a known issue with this game on PAL machines. Stephen Anderson

Cool - I didn't know anyone else that liked Tobal. I was super impressed with it when it came out. It's one of the only games I remember being in hi-res on the PSX (Gran Turismo 2 had a cheat or something - I was insanely impressed with it. I modded my PSX and imported the game and dual shock from Japan so I could play it before my buddies!). Stephen Anderson
-
I'll second that. It's insanely easy to install these, and while you're at it, you can scrub the entire disassembled keyboard and computer case to make it look like new once it goes back together. Stephen Anderson

Comments regarding Atlantis Games Group and Tempest Xtreem
Stephen replied to Kjmann's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I'll jump on this one as well. Tempest 2000 was the game that made me purchase my Jaguar. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Tempest Extreem is my most anticipated title on the 8-bit. Don't let the nay-sayer(s) get you down. Especially when said people don't release anything except short out of tune "music" clips that are painful to listen to, or relentlessly offer ideas how to make games beter (Crownland's sprite multiplexer springs to mind) but never release anything showing how much better they could do it. Stephen Anderson -
Well, the combined ANTIC/GTIA didn't offer any new features. It simply crammed both chips on one die. I don't know what happened to Atari - the 2600 progressed nicely into the 400/800 series, and then - nothing. It's a real shame Atari let Miner & Co go. The ST line was cobbled together with off the shelf parts, the 7800 was designed out of house, the Lynx was designed by Epyx, the Jaguar was designed by Flare 1. I don't understand how a company as innovative as Atari was from 1972 to 1979 managed almost nothing afterwards. Stephen Anderson
