  1. Been over a decade since I burned one but yeah - the label looks to be the same. Since we had (have) no debugger writing a CDRW everytime something needed tested sucked. I literally wore out a CDRW to where it could no longer be written to. Got tired of the hassle and just gave up on trying to code for it. I made many attempts to get an official dev kit BITD but nothing ever came of it.
  2. Sounds like it's having trouble reading the disc. When I was doing coding on mine, I had decent luck with CD-RW discs by Verbatim.
  3. Crazy that even in 2020 I am hearing about some of this stuff for the 1st time.
  4. If we're going for 4, we'd have to use the Sharp RGB + Yellow technology. Hey - it was good enough for George Takei to give it an "OH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
  5. Several things: Yes, it is safe to run without the power LED Use an epoxy based glue to re-attach the PCB corner Once that is glued together, you can CAREFULLY use an X-Acto to scrape away the solder mask (the green covering). Gently do this until you see bare copper on those two traces Once the copper has been exposed, it will be very wasy to use thin wire and a decent flux, and solder a "bridge" across the break. Once done, the PCB will be as good as new.
  6. Very nice! Lots of examples on the Atari 8-bit machines of using a 3X5 font to give 80 columns in the hi-res (320 pixel) mode. Always fun seeing machines pushed beyond their boundaries.
  7. That right there sums up the Jaguar experience back when it was new. On one hand, we had ads SCREAMING (literally) to "Do the Math", 64-bits, etc. On the other hand (reality), we had ports of 16-bit Genesis games, which played better on the Genesis. Very frustrating times. One thing that has remained constant over the past quarter century though, are the people saying "Just wait until the Jag's full potential is revealed, then you'll be blown away!"
  8. Fantastic! Beats the Vic-20's 22 character display
  9. Wow - I can't believe so many people had issue with Sparta DOS or CLI in general. I got my US Doubler with Sparta 2.3 (can't remember the year - sometime between 87 and 89). It had this cool thing called a user manual that I read while Dad installed the US Doubler. Soon as I powered up the drive, I never touched a menu DOS again - they seemed so childish and primitive. Years later when I hopped to the PC, MS-DOS was just natural. CP/M was a tad confusing at first since many things were "backwards"
  10. I've never heard this before. Any articles to substantiate this claim?
  11. Out of those 96 units that "shipped" many weeks back, it's odd that there has only been ONE single photo, and that "person" that received it is no longer allowed to say anything about it. This un-console is so utterly amazing, that not a single leak has gotten out. The people must be fully occupied with playing all the amazing launch games. Oh wait - there are no launch games. Well maybe the moms are all Netflix and Chill, and haven't been able to post.
  12. With such stellar management, I can't imagine that Atari ever went belly up.
  13. Same - I have multiple NTSC and PAL machines, but will not support someone who purposefully and knowingly codes stuff to not work on U1MB (especially after denying it until it was outright proved to be a lie).
  14. Awesome - I can finally add something to the clear case my States & Capitals is in. Could you please do one for Energy Czar - those are sadly the only 2 tapes I have.
  15. Sorry - I only "laughed" at that post because it was so "math nerd" cool. Fascinating topic, one that I am interested in but probably have nothing to contribute. Sorry for the diversion.
  16. Holy crap - you got to talk to Larry Wagner? That's great.
  17. Llamasoft has - the answer is a "no there isn't and no there won't be".
  18. The whole llamasoft debacle is just another of the many reasons the new faux-tari sucks. They basically sued llamasoft for TxK being too much like Tempest 2000 (the dumb shits must not have realized Jeff wrote T2K and owned the rights). They prevented TxK from launching on the PS4. They prevented a VR mode of the game (which was completed BTW) from being released. Then, after allowing Tempest 4000 on the PS4 (albeit watered down), they showed FAKE screenshots of it running on the non-existent "unconsole" of theirs. Llamasoft were made aware of this, and said that in no way were they contacted, and also, a Linux version did not exist. Great way to do business folks. Everything they do is shady, everything they say is a lie.
  19. Don't forget. It does nothing that a piece of hardware 1/4 the cost can't do. That's the measure of my useless purchases.
  20. Would never work in this day and age my good man. Nobody will accept smoking doobies, and having hot chicks in hot tubs. Hot tubs melt snowflakes. It was only a few years back Nolan was being called out for "sexist" shit in the mid 70s.
  21. I only see the zig-zag stripes on my PAL systems - never noticed it on an NTSC one. It's there even on my Sony PVMs.
