Fascinating! I've never heard of softcast before.

Atari Freezer 2011 Declare Interest Thread
Stephen replied to santosp's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Probably referring to Nir Dary's video: -
That is very true - Atari user since 1982 and there are definitely some unique sounds here.
-
Believe that was Don Thomas.
-
I also got mine, posted to the thread, and have promptly lost them in a pile of 50 other boxes of stuff Busy year.
-
That's way close enough for what this is! There's not a trace on that PCB that's even off by a BCH (technical term - look it up).
-
Excellent. I love the look of amber monitors so much, when I started using a VBXE machine, I made my standard colours black background and amber text!
-
DO IT!!!

Some of the stuff sounds cool - almost an "electric violin" type sound. The slides are nice. But as mentioned, when the strong sawtooth waves come in, the bad tuning is so jarring it kills everything good about the song.

Does anyone have Chompelo from Dynacomp?
Stephen replied to tschak909's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Plenty of people here would be willing to help. Using these devices is literally no more difficult than using 2 disk drives back in 1980. Set one floppy as drive 1, another as drive 2, and do a DOS copy command. -
Amber screen - how pretty!

I always had terrible luck with my 8-bitters on my LCD devices. I also built my own cables, cutting existing cables in half and installing DIN5 jacks on them. I am glad I never offered any for sale, as given the above images, I am sure the cables I was using were incorrectly made. Still - it gave me an excuse to collect 2 Sony PVMs (14", 20"), 2 Sony Trinitron 8" monitors, and a 1977 Sony Trinitron "portable" 8" TV At some point I definitely want to try a proper cable and see how things look on my LCDs.

Posting RWTEST here. I am having trouble remembering what I used for the stability test. I believe it was something @flashjazzcat wrote. RWTEST.COM
-
Thought about this for a while. I would have to say early 80s midget wrestling from the WWF.
-
Sounds like there could be a read error. Have you ran the various tests (RWTEST) and I think there was a stability test for various cards?
-
That's close enough for Youtube to recognize it as grey

I'm so glad I finally have a way to use Plex. I've heard about this cool thing since it came out all the way back in 2008 but have never been able to experience it. The idea that I can pay $400 for a device that will let me run games from 2012 at 20 frames per second, and do this awesome new streaming thingy fascinates me. Do you think this magical box will be powerful enough to get me on AOL (you know, that inter web thingy)?
-
Funny - I;ve seen many trolls before. That to me looks like a blind brand supporter (i.e., Atari fan), not a troll.
-
Well, there's a sucker born every day, and then there's this retard level of thought. $400 is not overpriced enough for you - sure, find some dolt to pay $800 for it. With these prices, you'd think this turd was dropped by Apple.
-
Hey man - back off. The rent was due. The next one will be better.

It goes beyond a hobby when you are charging $40 or $50 for shovel-ware. If it was a true hobby, the releases would be free. Then you would deserve to have the attitude you do. When you are charging for stuff, especially what you charge, you are no longer a hobbiest, but a business.

Wow - they're really putting the torch to the PS5 and XBox One X (is that enough Xs in the name) with these amazing new features and game announcements.
-
Phase Zero should have definitely replaced Air Cars. Certainly not one of the Jag games with an embarrassingly slow frame rate. All this talk of Phase Zero is making me want to hook my Jag to the projector.
-
Wow - I was not aware Rob Zdybel was coding Space War! Dude was with Atari since the early 2600 days.

How about Michael Vick's Pitbull Fighting instead? The gambling aspect could include football and you could use your winnings to breed stronger dogs.
