  1. Thank you so much Atari Friends(TM) I spent my entire day off of work (I am a coder full-time) coding Rather than my boring ass daily work, I implemented the idea I had. Static screenshot for now - I am slowly piecing together videos and will do a full blog on the project at a later date. As I suspected - the selector is too slow for a nice BASIC experience, but the full intent of this, is to go 100% 6502. I am doing my prototype work in small sections. The coding style is suited for an ASM conversion. Teaser screenshot:
  2. He hasn't worked out the 200 pages of spreadsheets showing cycle counts nor re-worked the engine continuously for 2.5 years. Give it time, and it just may be possible!
  3. Nice! I have always loved Fluke gear. Still rocking my Fluke 73 I bought back in 93, original probes and all.
  4. OK - thanks, I will run with this then. I seem to always fall in the trap of thinking about how to make things as fast as possible on this machine, rather than trying something and only seeing if it needs sped up afterwards.
  5. Apologies in advance for such a dumb / beginner question. I am just starting to code for VBXE and haven't done any A8 coding in quite some time. I am currently using the S-VBXE.SYS driver and Turbo BASIC-XL but due to some limitations with the graphics overlay I will be switching over to my own XDL and 6502 soon. I am using standard text mode (80 column). I have an array of text (filenames) consisting of multiple columns and rows. I'm not sure the best way of highlighting each entry (inverse text) would be. Initial thoughts (and issues) Use standard PMG. Issues with this approach - the provided overlays completely shut off ANTIC DMA and are at priority 0 (underneath ANTIC) Use a custom palette with multiple entries being the same colour. Change the palette on the fly for the "highlighted" entry. Create a routine to GET each character, set bit 7, PUT each character in the cell. Issues - probably slow Store each filename and the highlighted entry, and re-print the appropriate copy when selecting / de-selecting. Issues - seems inefficient to store 2 copies of each file. Other issues complicating this for me, are I am thinking I would like to support a scrolling region (window) because I don't want to hardcode a limit on the number of files which can be handled, especially using SDX with 32MB partitions. Thanks for any tips.
  6. I sure wish we could order some of those monitors for the listed prices! Hard drives, not so much.
  7. Dreamblaster is a fun little device, killer sound.
  8. Lucky I guess. I've had my Jag since early 95 and paid well under retail for most everything. I got the BS trilogy all for retail from the original runs. Hope I never have to sell the stuff though I guess if I ever stopped using it for a long time it would be better to do that. Wife & I both like collecting "things" so fortunately that's never an issue, and she likes the occasional video game.
  9. Wonder what the percentage of people that bought them are of the 'oh, there is a flash cart available now? cool, I'll find a Jag' variety. I mean I've had mine forever because 1) I never sell anything anymore because I still remember regretting selling the 2600 and all it's games way back when... 2) I'm too lazy 3) I used my JagCD a lot for VLM Well, I have almost every cart originally released for my Jag (including 2 original BattleSphere and a BS Gold). I just wanted the flash cart because I like to collect I suppose. Was also really holding out hope it could be used to feed audio into the VLM in case my CD units ever do wear out.
  10. Well poo - (Pre-order Position 213 in front of you). Looks like I'll be getting it from the AA store. At least I have my Lynx and 8-bit to keep me occupied I think it's pretty darn cool how many of these SainT has sold. I didn't realize the Jag market was still so strong.
  11. In that case, every day that goes by makes Atari a better buy.
  12. I'd ask to be put on the list as well, but I am already on so many waiting lists, I can't keep track of them all.
  13. I must say - "not exactly the best game" is the nicest synonym I have ever heard for "steaming pile of rancid feces". Well done sir.
  14. Thanks. I didn't think it would work, but gave it a try. I accidentally ran it with solutions set to 1, and it resolved almost immediately, but with some errors. I realized I usually run Rasta with a stupidly high number of solutions (10,000 or so) but never really had a reason to do so. Sorry if it's been mentioned before, but this thread is massive. What settings do you normally use? I haven't messed too much with the advanced features such as detail masks, and OnOff files.

Thanks for the clarification. Again - I want to state. I am 100% not opposed to upgrades for our hardware, I think they are all awesome. I have most of my 8-bit machines with expanded RAM, stereo, and one even has the VBXE video upgrade.

All Harmony enhanced games so it's not a fair comparison. Beautiful games, very impressive. I can't believe the attention Galaga got on my 2600 I had setup at VCFMW14. However, giving the system help from a 100MHz ARM processor does substantially change the game.

  20. Wonder how much time it would take to OCR that? I sure as hell won't be typing that in. Of course the text version of the scan is worthless, it would be faster to type it in manually than to try and correct the errors in the listing.
  21. I owe you guys - working on some proper new stuff now.
  22. Awesome - I have ordered two from him - I need to store an additional 100 floppies. Somehow my collection has increased by 250 disks the past few years, and I only had storage for 100. Not coincidentally, I am adding shelving to my office where I have a full-time setup for 1088XLD. I'll post pics when everything is in.
  23. Holy shit-balls. Is that for real? That's the ugliest thing I have ever seen. Please don't tell me that turd just sat on top of the membrane kb underneath?
  24. I cannot stop myself. <beavis mode>You said tightened up the hole, lights and stickers. hmmmm - hmmm - hm </beavis mode>
