  1. One of the problems with these types of games is they are niche to begin with, and within that niche everybody has different tastes. You won't be able to get a solution that will please everybody, so I suggest going with whatever feels right to you. From a narrative perspective, my suggestion would be if you die, your fey companion can sacrifice themselves once and only once to resurrect you. You stay at the same location in the game, you keep everything you have accumulated, but you no longer have the companion going forward. If you die again, permadeath.

  2. Say I've played it 5 or 6 times already. Do I still need to reference the rule book and if so why? If it is to consult charts, then maybe they should be broken out into their own thing for easier access, or put on the back cover.

I would try to keep it from being overly complex if possible. There are way more people who like the idea of AD&D type games than people who actually play them. Going hardcore limits your overall potential audience.

Are there any tactical bits that could maybe be dumbed down for a 'Basic' & 'Advanced' game? Ideally, you'd want it to be playable by a 10-13 year old.

  3. I'd buy this. It's addictive as hell.

Many thanks. It makes all the time spent on it worthwhile to know others are enjoying it.

I'm getting close to calling it finished. Another tweak or two perhaps.

Not sure about selling it. I kind of get the feeling the time for something like this may have passed. Most of the games are skewing 16-32k these days, and there's the Harmony and whatnot. We'll see.

  4. I used to have a 1969 Gottlieb Airport. It was a great machine and lasted many years. I went through bouts of playing it all the time and ignoring it. They are unbelievably heavy. If you do get one, make sure you have somebody to help you move it. Keep in mind the more complex the machine, the more likely it is to have something break. My machine was older and mostly I just had to keep changing light bulbs in various locations. I would say it is worth it if you can stay within whatever your self imposed limit is. I wouldn't mind having another one, but space is a big issue for me at the moment.

  5. Thanks for posting this. Did NET not broadcast in color TV in 1968? Sesame Street's first episode in 1969 was in color.

Not sure. I was born in '69 and always remember it being in color. If you look at the first 5 episodes on that site, they are all in B&W. Probably the entire 1st season was B&W.

As far as other stuff goes, you can't go wrong with Captain Kangaroo.

  6. Hi

Version 25a works great and i did it again.I got the sword, rescued the princess, found the holy grail and killed the demon.

    Great game;greetings Walter

Thanks! I appreciate you guys taking the time to test it. I'll be doing a PAL60 version for everybody in the EU soon.

  7. I have 10 SP but it only gives me the Cure Light Wounds. I currently have 5 HP out of 9 Max. My next battle took me down to 1HP and I was able to then select Cure Heavy Wounds.
I may change that to where you can use it no matter what. See manual for how it works now.

    Looks like Excalibur's pre-req changed.
    Hasn't & no it wasn't.

New monster is neat, but it really sucks down on your spell points. I'd recommend the lightning bolt be 2 SP instead of 4. If need be, lower the damage a 2SP lightning bolt does to the other monsters.
Will give that a try (don't forget about run though).

  8. One possible bug: yesterday I was playing a game and the passage to the cave was on the same spot as the stairs going down to the next level. In this instance, I could not finish the game since I could only re-enter the cave and not descend to the next level (hope that makes sense!). Otherwise, the game played very well.
Makes perfect sense. I tried to prevent that, but my logic was apparently off. I'll take a look at it.

    - Any way you can put in a animated swing of you player's sword when you attack? (similar to the animated attacks of your foes)
Possibly. I'm trying to hold back a little graphic space for the time being for other stuff. We'll see what's left over.

That's all for now... great job!
    Thanks again!
