Just noticed all the typos and grammatical errors. No, I haven't been abducted and replaced by a pod person. I had a very long night last night and haven't had any sleep.

I uhmm.... hacked uhm........ FLAG CAPTURE?!?! See kids.... this is what happens when you start hacking. You've been warned. FC always seemd like it should have been a good game, but for whatever reason it just didn't work (at least for me). Anyway, this is my attempt to move it from bad to mediocre. Not sure if I achieved that or just a different level of bad. The game is now called Bigfoot. Yes, you are now looking for Sasquatch instead of the flag (and yes he does look goofy, but it does sort of look like those Indian drawings of him). You track him by finding his footprints scattered through the woods. But beware, he's not he's not the only mysery of the unknown floating around the woods. If you stumble across a UFO the aliens will abduct you, give you an anal probe, and drop you off at your point of origin. The game play has gone through a few major changes. Instead of the numbers displays you now get a nice forest graphic. You have to rely entirely on the directonal clues (footprints) to figure out which way to go. One of my biggest problems with the game is it just TOO LONG. To that end: In the timed one-player mode you now only have 20 seconds to find him (as opposed to 75). Given the subject matter, I wanted to make it possible to play a game and not actually find him. If you can find him more than once, you're doing good (or getting good placement). 3 is the best score I've made on these options. In the free-for-all and double 2-player options the winning total is now 5 instead of 15. And in the 2-player solo options the losing score is now 30 instead of 75. If you've never played FC before, select option 8 (the 1st solo game) to get a taste of what it's like. Move with the joystick, hit the fire button to see what's in the square you are in. Don't worry..... I'll quietly fade away for a little while after this one.

Thanks. Like I said, it was my first attempt. Given how much I love the show I kind of wish I had waited to do a BotP game until after I had a few under my belt. Maybe I'll return to it later and try to do something a little more involved. My plan is to work my way up systematically, do a graphic only hack (done), do a graphic hack w/color changes (done), do a graphic hack w/color changes and major gameplay changes (working on it - hopefully I won't be banned from the boards when everybody sees what game it is. ) Very cool Legos! How many sets did you have to buy to get that many red/blues? I used to be a big Lego freak and right now my son is a big Mega Block freak (he prefers them to Duplos). We mostly build dinosaurs with it but when he gets just a little older BotP might be a cool thing to try.

BTW - if you do create the work directory and copy everything into it you will still need to CD to that directory when you first drop to the command line.
-
If you are trying to execute immediately after going to the command prompt it won't work because windows can't find it. You either need to CD to the directory you uncompressed it to or add it to your path or do what I did and create a work directory to store my source and copy the contents of the bindos directory into it.

Happy to report the target audience loves it! On a side note - s0c7 is the most common abend message on IBM mainframes. I'm not attempting "l33t"-speak.

AFAIK there isn't a source listing of Cat Trax floating around out there. Here is what I've found - DASM ready. Do a find on *C* to go to the lines I've put color comments on.

After doing my first hack (BotP) I decided I wanted to do something for my 2 1/2 yr old. He's just starting gaming. I needed a really young kid friendly game. I chose Cat Trax which is both fun and easy. Kids like things to be personalized so I call it The Monster That Ate ________ (Imagine that as a cart label with a fill-in area to write in the name of your town/city. Think of the rarity value! At least for some of us..... ) Basically I think you should be able to figure out what's going on (especially if you ever played Crush, Crumble, & Chomp - one of my all-time favorites). You are a monster on a rampage. You are vulnerable to the army units. Eat the fleeing mob for bonus points. If you eat the nuclear power plant you will get a nice radiation buzz for a little while enabling you to turn the tables on the army.

Very nice! I especially like the color scheme. A lot easier on the eyes. The original was about the only game I used to intentionally play in b&w mode.

Thanks for the kind words. Actually I had considered trying to hack Street Racer in BotP mode too. Jason for the car games, Princess motorcycle, Mark airplane, Phoenix to replace the skier, Keyop's weird whatever for the scoop games. But I had forgotten just how many variations it had. Don't have that kind of time right now. I would like to encourage anybody who hasn't tried it yet to give hacking a shot.

Hi gang, Have lurked AA for quite some time now. Thought I'd try to make my 1st post somewhat more interesting than the usual "what are the 10 best 2600 games?". Anyway, this is literally my 1st hack attempt, so judge it accordingly. The plot is intentionally hazy (makes it more fun - fit it to your favorite episode). Spectra has stolen/created something (Conway tapes, weapon, whatever) and you have to break into their base to retrieve/steal it. In the meantime, the Great Spirit (Sosai X, Luminous One, whatever) has become fed up with Zoltar's bungling and is guarding the object in question personally with manifestations of himself (note: to nitpickers, he personally got involved in the episode Zoltar got unmasked, so this isn't a 100% deviation from the show). Normal Infiltrate rules apply.
