    1775

Thanks! Glad to hear people are still playing and enjoying it. Has anybody managed to beat the game? I had a request a while back for a PAL version. If you live in a PAL country, you can get the PAL-60 version here: http://atariage.com/...s/#entry2157290
  2. I've been away for a while. I'm somewhat dismayed to see what is going on over in the marketplace forum regarding this. Neo has always been a stand up guy in my dealings with him. There's not a lot I can do for those who didn't get a cart. All I got out of the deal was the Bruce Campbell autographed cart. I can however post the rom. This is not what he put out on cart (so those who bought one stil have something unique). This is what I gave him to hack (some things already changed to make it easier). So no fancy title screen, etc. I'm only doing this because of the circumstances and it will not be up for long. So if you want it, get it now. I also ask that you do not sell it or even make a personal cart of it. Emulation and Krok/Harmony are fine. From my perspective, this is just a hack of one of my games. EDIT: The Necronomicon has closed forever. Hope you grabbed the rom while you could.
  3. It's similar to 1775 in that they are both simple shooters. I wouldn't agree that it is the same thing turned upside down. Anyway, for those that just want to play the game - it still exists in it's original form prior to the AoD facelift. Bin available, Gameplay is more or less identical. Odin (a WIP version using the driving controller) can be found here: http://www.atariage....wheres-the-car/ Bifrost - This is what was used to make AoD. http://www.atariage....ost__p__2132053 And for those who don't know what we're talking about and wish to compare - 1775: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/109605-1775/page__view__findpost__p__1325271
  4. Mostly just the more colorful graphics + everything mentioned here:http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/100175-phantompirate/page__view__findpost__p__1231667 It was made as a "Thank you" to the small group of hardcore fans of the game.
  5. I'm also planning to dabble with HyperPin. I downloaded it tonight from the MegaUpload link. It took 3 tries. The first two downloads chugged along quickly until it got to the last few k and then Firefox crashed on me. I wound up trying it in IE, and again it downloaded quickly but the last few k took forever. It eventually finished and I was able to install it successfully.
  6. Nobody said you HAVE to rescue the princess.
  7. Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. As for a direct sequel, probably not. It would need to be something different. At the moment, I'm mostly learning how to code for the Odyssey2: http://www.atariage.com/forums/blog/254/entry-8459-in-the-jungle/
  8. Still keeping it retro though. Probably 3/4 of the way through my 1st Odyssey² game.
  9. Neo's a good guy. I have no problem with him doing a release if that's what people want. I'm pretty much retired from the 2600 scene these days. Have started programming again, but am on a different platform now.

    Chetiry

    Very cool!
  11. Turned out I had a copy of the source on my laptop. Here you go. I think I got everything converted. Let me know if anything looks too dark. 1775-pal60.bin
  12. Wow. A blast from the past. No PAL version exists for this, but since you've shown an interest I'll see if I can dig up the source code and bang out a PAL-60 version. Might not be until after the holidays though.
  13. You got a mention on AICN: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/47690

    Bifröst is finished

Thanks guys. Going to take a little hiatus. May be back, may not - but it's been fun.
  15. The Serpent is faster. I tried giving it 7 hits one time, but thought that made it a little too hard. I can bump it back up though if people think it needs it. As far as shooting enemies, that would have made it too hard I think. I appreciate all the support everybody has given me over the years. May pick it back up sometime, just not the immediate future.
  16. Thanks. Real life intrudes though and at least for now I'm too burned out to invest the time and energy on Atari projects.
  17. Haven't decided for sure yet, but may be calling it quits. The speech routine is causing that. I throw a few extra frames of black screen at 262 before anything shows up on the screen to stabilize it out. You don't realize that it has happened on real hardware.

    Bifröst is finished

I'm calling Bifröst complete (see Homebrew forum). I know it's a simple little game, but I'm quite pleased with it. Doing something completely in asm has been my long term goal since I joined AA back in '05. And of course I'm proud of everything I've done along the way. Time to take a sabbatical I think.
  19. Final version. - Many "under the hood" changes - PAL colors tweaked a little - Scoring changes: Frost Giant = 1 Fire Giant = 2 Fenris Wolf = 10 Midgard Serpent = 11
  20. It's been a long learning experience. In many ways I'm more proud of this than anything else I've done (yes, even Dungeon). As author of the game I declare you to be the official World Champion of Bifröst! So, can anybody beat that?
  21. I'm tempted to call this the final version, but for now I'll just call it a release candidate. If you haven't been following my blog, you'll find it to be somewhat different from the last version posted here. Please report any oddness you may come across. I also finally got around to creating a PAL60 version. Unfortunately, it will never be as colorful as the NTSC version due to the limitations of the palette. If you try it on real hardware and find anything to be too hideous, let me know and I'll see what can be done. bifrost_doc.txt

    Another Bifröst update

Many thanks. It makes all the time spent on it worthwhile to know others are enjoying it. I'm getting close to calling it finished. Another tweak or two perhaps. Not sure about selling it. I kind of get the feeling the time for something like this may have passed. Most of the games are skewing 16-32k these days, and there's the Harmony and whatnot. We'll see.

    Another Bifröst update

And the final form begins to take shape. Changes this time out: More graphic changes. Driving controller support has been removed. Joystick only. Level progression has been reworked. Each level now consists of: 31 Frost Giants Fenris Wolf 31 Fire Giants Midgard Serpent The Fenris Wolf & Midgard Serpent require 5 hits to destroy. Each hit knocks them backwards a bit. bifrost_build100310.bin To help get you in the mood:
