  1. Eeee.... Seeing all the entries I think I would win with any of my planned games if I managed to make them in time. Shame they are still only in my head ;) ;) ;)

    Good work guys !

Time to start working on the next year entry ! :)

    Yes maybe winner :).

And NO! you have to first end the one that would win this year ABBUC Contest for a public release and not for next year (and that was you that said it some posts ago) then code that other we now for that carts retro company and only after start around 5 or 6Months before the deadline the other we have in hands that can win next year also ;)...

P.s.- And even beeing sad to not entered I'd like to send my congratulations to all that could finished and entered on this year.

  2. Yes I understand your point but for some people having Summer vacations to do some things is good but for others perhaps not.

If was deadline untill September and for most it will apply to all usually having vacations at this time of the year, at least the North world guys that seem to be most of the entries.

July is on this place a sort of breaking the Summer. If you have more people there have the meeting only on last weekend of October then maybe there's a way to also have all Summer to people do their entries.

You have to realize that is a long gap between the deadline and the meeting. It seems that even members have to wait about 2Months for playing the games that is a pain when the game developers start to show screens and videos doing their promotion.

Even on the recent years where my works entered in-time I trully wanted that people play the game(s) and not only see screens, videos and explanations.

As an example, in a similar C64 competition after the deadline and it hasn't a time and a meeting, people were waiting the releases for Months. Though it seems there wasn't nothing about when the releases, they didn't explained why the delay and all days many posts in all kind of C64's and retro websites.

I understand that you also have family and life but you as the part side you are that must find way(s) to as soon as possible save and send the discs to the members.

It doesn't seem fair to me and sorry to say that the developers have a deadline on 31st of July when you seem to send on things by September. If you there go into vacations maybe let others have, at least August, in the coming years? Just a proposal...

  3. So at your timezone 23:59 the game file that is there is the one and can't have some more days if there is some fixes needed like in other years?

Just because on last year there was ABBUC members complaining that by the end of September they didn't received the games discs.

I may seem to try to get some more time, perhaps really am and isn't fair for others that finish in time but if there are only 3 or 4 submissions and others show something running...

Some days more to all can fix and do some updates, would it be fair?

Probably isn't and you as a true club vote the rules Months before by the members and is each participant that must find the best way of using his time though sometimes we'll all have personal life, job and some a wife and kids.

If not for ABBUC maybe the game I'm into can be released soon and if nothing bad and unexpected happens all gfxs and engine, maps and sprites for the next year contest game by me and my partner is already done and decided that it will need and be coded starting not less than 5 or 6Monts before the deadline, first because is a large levels game and second that life troubles,... the same as this year will not happen.

    :(

  4. Hi.

Indeed all is too quiet this year and none other(s) than Gorgh.

From me and my this year coder partner things seems too difficult to be ready untill the deadline :(.

What happens if there isn't at least 6 entries in one of the contest category like the games one?

  5. They're still fishing for ideas. And they're reading every word in this thread - but keeping their mouths shut.

So in the meantime, atari is fumbling around figuring out what to make. And here on AA there's new games being published today! Erm..

So I and most here have to take part of the profits but please be care because usually those small text at the end or on the back in the insurances and banks contracts are the devil and what no-one usually reads because of beeing lazy or have some kind of visual problems. And they know that and thats why they keep doing that even with the todays more restricted laws.

Getting back to the joke I want profits for all my A8's hours of working but can't nor intend to pay for any looses from them.

    Are you listen me Atari?

  6. 2600games is obvious because is where they seem to still have code/roms and the design is also a proof, remember the Flashbacks ;)...

A8 has most of the games using many devices and 3rd party that they don't have the rights nor they'll bother with it.

On the other hand we have to get that for good and bad/bad or good that was mainly with the 2600 that it started and given Atari the reputation not all or almost all together with bad decisions that came after it :(...

  7. Hi guys.

Just received a mail from AtariBox with some blah blah but seems they advance something that is it's a modern machine with hdmi, 4usb and sd ports.

Along the many lines they also say it will have 2 versions lookings beeing one? wood type resembling the original in what seems to be the 2600.

They intend to have modern games but promise to not forget old ones.

But still nothing about technical information about its capabilities, intention, market, games in production,...

I was just go out of home when I entered my mail but no time to return and my phone is old and I can't copy&paste/quote their mail to here so if someone here also had subscribe them it would be a great service to post here their mail so that all can read.

Other way is send me a pm here on AA with your mail so that I instantly re-send you their mail that you'll then paste here.

  8. I'm an idiot (he finally admits it) this was Gun Fright not Fairlight :) Thanks I'll try v1.2

Mariuszw fault, thats the reason of the confusion. Too much releases and many diagonal hi-res games makes people do these kind of things...

  9. May be you don't realize but you are some kind of God to us. Your STAC inspired a lot of people here in Chile, I even got my first job thanks to a clone system that I did after reading your code (I was 14). Not to mention the users!! They just adore the turbo + error recovery system. Vitoco made another clone that was way more popular than mine, and I knew about him because of that.

I think I'll do the reverse engineering again and then compare my findings with your source, just for fun.

Hi Franco. Nice to see you here again and hope that me, MrFish and you can talk soon ;)...

  10. I also never seen a 1200XL over here but in my opinion it was a big fault that Atari didn't kept the cart entry on top like is on the 600XL and 800XL.

First because it's a bigger size machine and all that white empty/with nothing at the top doesn't look good/right. It destroys the beauty XLs design really... In my opinion the 600XL suffered on its looking for not have that same and right size like the 800XL on the light part at the top but, probably, was to make the difference between the two and to show wich of the two had more Memory. The XLs design are still a 'state of the art' but, maybe because was the one I had ;), 800XL had the best looking vs size vs best to use.

And second because was already talked by some of you on other(s) topic(s) about the constraints of the 65XE and 130XE in having the cart port on the back in horizontal position that makes people suffer to insert carts and isn't, probably, also good to keep them in well conditions after many tries.

Indeed, the two previously XLs were a great art of design and beat others manufacturers just by the cart is best to use at the top though the XLs overall looking is so great looking compared to BBC, C16/Vic20/C64 breadboxs, Amstrad CPC and even the Apple ][ that for me always thought it looked so fat looking and needed a diet , but this probably of possibilities to add stuff inside?

  11. Emkay, eat a snickers ;)

Humm... More recent Snickers commercial seems that people turn into Mr.Bean and better eat one to return to be the original guy. Are you saying that there are times that we're proud to have here Mr.Bean instead of Emkay?

Didn't know he was an Atari fan.

It has indeed at least 2years (it could do a nice 3D game ;)):
