      Nobody knows, but Sega

Ehhh should just be a sega subforum imo... Then all the awesome people can collect in one place...

  2. The only piece of Star Trek media I've seen in full is the Pilot episode of TOS.

Is my Atariage liscense now revoked?

I cannot recommend the TOS and TNG BDs enough because they are absolutely incredible. There are a few places in TNG where they were not able to find the original film, so they had to upscale some footage in a few episodes, but both of them look absolutely beautiful overall and are highly recommended. Sadly, it seems that they might be difficult to obtain right now, though. As for which to start with... up to you, but personally, I say whichever one is actually in stock at your local Amazon or wherever else!

TOS is rough in places, especially if you watch it in its broadcast order (which is the order it plays in on the BDs, unfortunately), but it's much better in production order, which is how they wanted it to be shown before the studio or whoever decided to broadcast it out of order. The last time I watched it, I dumped the discs to my HDD and watched it in production order. It took up a lot of space and I had to delete each season to make room for the next one.

TNG sucks in the beginning but gets much better. It has some inconsistent writing (mainly Wesley and Riker) and a few boring characters, but it's overall good. It has more episodes than TOS, and more episodes total means both more good episodes and more bad episodes. The highs and lows of both of them are about the same, I think. I am ashamed to admit that I never cared for DS9 (probably because I was like 3 when it began) and never actually saw more than maybe 5 minutes of Voyager, though I am planning on getting the DVD sets. TNG BDs sold poorly and cost an insane amount of money to make, so there's basically no hope for DS9 or VOY BDs ever happening.

IMO, TOS and TNG are pretty worthwhile.  I'm still getting through all of TOS...There's also some fun to be had in each of the other series,  but I'm no expert.

    3. jaybird3rd

I second that recommendation, TOS and TNG are well worth looking into.  In numerous places, you'll find "Top 10" lists for both series, so if you don't want to commit to watching every single episode, use these lists as a guide.  You should see the first six Trek movies as well, but in my opinion you'll appreciate them better if you watch them only *after* finishing TOS.

TNG took longer to "gel" as a series, so the first two seasons get a bad rap, but there are gems to be found there as well.  I'll recommend nine episodes from both seasons to help you steer clear of the dross.  From S1, check out the two-part pilot "Encounter at Farpoint", then "Where No One Has Gone Before," "The Big Goodbye," "Datalore," "11001001," "Home Soil," "Heart of Glory," "Skin of Evil," and "The Neutral Zone."  From S2, check out "The Child," "Elementary, Dear Data," "Samaritan Snare," "The Measure of a Man," "Contagion," "Time Squared," "Pen Pals," "Q Who," and "Peak Performance."  S3 on is pretty solid, with a few exceptions, though the four TNG movies were IMHO a disappointment.

Don't ask why I typed this.

  4. *Piano from Bohemian Rhapsody plays* eBaaaaaayyyyyy, why won't you work? My PayPal is completely fine, but all you do is fit and whine.

  5. like 6 hamburger patties (no bun) 2 hours ago, and now everytime I belch, it smells like I farted out of my mouth.

    2. frankodragon

You didn't season them with Emeril spices, did you?  The last time I used his seasonings, I was a fart factory.

    3. Keatah

A potent combination is hot dogs and cake frosting. They come out wet and that smell takes eons to completely dissipate.

  6. Is price charting even worth it anymore? I just look at the game on eBay and get the cheapest one.

  7. I don't know if it's because my 3DS is modded, or if it's just a feature I didn't know existed, but when I boot up a game and then go to the Internet app, it has the game name in the search engine.

    1. SlidellMan

More likely a feature, then again, I never used the 3DS browser.

  9. You know, Joe Besser wasn't that bad of a Stooge.

    1. retrorussell

I was too young to know him as a Stooge (I had watched some old Stooges that didn't have him yet) but I remembered him as Babu the genie in the cartoon Jeannie.

    2. SlidellMan

I don't blame him for how dull the episodes he was in were. Rather, I blame lazy writers.

  11. I just saw a short clip of a recent episode of SpongeBob and the animation looked like it was from a YouTube parody. Everything was squishy, fast, and the characters looked nothing like what they used to. Is this what happens when you let a show go on for 20+ years?

Always looked like cheap animation to me.

Spongebob has woken from his slumber to explain to you why your wrong:

    4. DragonGrafx-16

There's also the change from traditional animation to digital but at least Spongebob is still a 2D show.

  12. My Internet connection to my computer sucks. I'm gonna have to get an Ethernet cable.

    1. jd_1138

Maybe try resetting your modem and wi-fi router first.

    2. Magmavision2000

I've done that multiple times. It's kind of infuriating since the package we got claims to be 3 Gbps, but since my family lives is out in the middle of nowhere, it's down to 47 Mbps. Now my phone is getting 51 Kbps and my computer can't even get a connection. Strangely, my Switch is doing fine, so I'm suspecting it's just out of range.

  13. If anyone is a fan of Gamecenter CX, there is a 24/7 twitch channel that plays every episode of the show: https://www.twitch.tv/cardfrek

    1. masschamber

yes yes I am, and that ones not ruined by that idiotic english over dubs.

    2. Magmavision2000

They play them on the stream after every other episode has been played. That's when the viewer count drops, and the people that are still there just riff on them.

  17. All of those findings after that huge Nintendo leak happened made me wish I actively used Twitter.

    But only a little.

    1. IntelliMission

I only have an account to be able to click on "All replies and messages", a button that prompts visitors to log in when clicked. A couple of times I have sent private messages too.

If you think Twitter sucks, remember that everyone under 25yo uses Instagram as their main social network AND chatting app. (And yes, Twitter sucks, but at least it's based around text and not images).

Thanks for mentioning the leak, I will check that now.

  18. Zelda 2 should be remade using the BOTW engine.

    1. Ryan Witmer

      Ryan Witmer

It amuses me that Zelda 2 got so much flak back in the day.  Modern Zelda games probably have more in common with Zelda 2 than the original.  The game was ahead of its time.

    2. SlidellMan

Tales of Phantasia and CastleVania: Symphony of the Night owe their existence to Zelda 2. However, I doubt that Nintendo would remake Z2 in any way, shape, or form. (Unless they release it out of the blue a la 3DS Metroid 2.)

  19. I started playing the arcade version of Punchout, and I'd never thought I would feel accomplished after beating Glass Joe.

  22. A new Arcade Archives Reviews entry is up! This one's about the infamous Nintendo game Sky Skipper!

  23. So I was looking at a German thread about Pong consoles, and one user claimed that Nintendo sold the Odyssey in Japan and made the plastic housing for the rifle peripheral. Can anyone confirm this? If so, are there any surviving examples?

    2. bluejay

Edit: Did some searching online and it does seem that Nintendo did acquire the rights to sell the odyssey in Japan, around 1974. There are very few websites that do say that, and none of them are super credible, but I have yet to find an article that says that it didn't happen. However I did find out that Nintendo sued Magnavox to try and invalidate Ralph Baer's patents for the video game, but lost. However this happened in 1985 so Nintendo had good reason to, regardless on whether they partnered with Magnavox more than a decade ago.

    3. masschamber

this probably would have been easier to research pre mario odyssey
