  1. I was looking at the first issue of Electronic Games, and I came across a piece where they were "comparing" Asteroids and Space Invaders. They tried to claim that Midway developed Galaxian and it was a successor to Space Invaders.

      considering space invaders and galaxian both say by midway on the cabinet, it isn't that far of a stretch to assume it was a sequel.  Like has been said before, this was before you could pop out your phone and find a misleading article on the internet in seconds, then find a more accurate one with a few minutes of searching.

      Yeah, at that time the Katz/Kunkel/Worley were some of the only people who even took video games seriously as a wave of the future.

      At the time,  and like others have said, with the word Midway right on the cabinet, Galaxian was considered the spiritual successor to Space Invaders though there was a direct sequel in the  form of the Deluxe machine...
