  1. I want to start selling retro games on eBay, so does anybody got tips?
  2. I'm pretty sure anything that's netflix will be worth something in the future when people start getting nostalgic for the brand.
  3. I gotta say, Space Invaders SNES looks just like the arcade version graphically, but it's a little off in the sound department. Anyone else got any good ports of arcade games?
  4. Since you referenced the Famicom, may I suggest taking a look at the ebay seller zipangugame? They sell famicom games at extremely low prices.
  5. Well I stand corrected! I literally just niw popped in ninja gaiden 1 and after one reset. Poof! It starts to play! Thus the system now has an 8/10!
  6. Okay, since I have to one I played at an arcade, I guess Dig Dug
  7. I'd probably last at least a week before I either have a mental breakdown or I accept it and become "Pong master" XD. Speaking of Pong master, is there any "Pong tournaments"?
  8. I think people getting taken seriously for their choice of game platforms probably started in the late 80s to early 90s with the "Genesis does what Nintendon't" campaign. But with the industry catering to people who base their life on gaming and "gamer culture becoming accepted", I think that started in the early to mid 2000s when online gaming had become mainstream. But to answer the question on when gamer culture first branded the hobby, I gotta say around the "Let's Play" era so around 2007-2012. I don't really like "gamer culture" as you put it, because it feels like the people who are apart of it almost want it to be like a religion or something.
  9. For serious high scores-HWG For "meh" scores-EGG For bad scores-HAM
  10. I'm three years younger than you so I don't have a basement arcade, but I would suggest getting two multicades (1 vertical screen and 1 horizontal screen) and see which games you like on them (most have 60-100 games on them). After that try to find said games you like on the multicade. Don't take me 100% seriously, I'm suggesting what I would do when/if I get make a basement arcade.
  11. I'm probably sounding really stupid right now, but how do you exactly hook up a 2600 (or really any rf only system for that matter) to PAL and NTSCJ televisions? Is it the same procedure as hooking up a Japanese rf system to an American television?
  12. I've cleaned my ninja gaiden 1 cart several times with 99% IPA. I haven't opened it up though so it might be a trace issue.
  13. I don't think i would be able to get a refund since i bought the key on ebay. Plus I bought it for $1.19 so it's not like I wasted $60.
  14. Update: After one year of absence on my goal to collect all Atari pong systems, I finally bought a c-140! I'm also currently eyeballing an auction for C-100 that's has five days left and no bids. So far I have one of the nine Atari pong type systems.
  15. On my computer it appears that that the game is not installed. Looks like I'll either need to upgrade or "legally buy the game from the official website", I think I'll do the former.
  16. I bought a game from steam (via steam key) and I tried to play it through the steam app and all I got was the steamui.dll error and it seems i can't play the game through the steam website. Is there another way of playing steam games or am i screwed? My OS is windows xp if you're wondering.
  17. I'm probably the 1000th person to say this but, us this full size by arcade1up standards (about 4 feet tall) or 1980s arcade standards
  18. I'm probably going to do that. I already told myself if next gen is all digital or (god forbid) streaming only I'm going to only buy Nintendo products, and after they switch to all digital or streaming only i'm just going to buy games 20XX backwards.
  19. Being someone who likes video games and wants to play them 10-30+ years down the line, stuff like streaming only game systems and all digital systems kind of make me worry about how we'll preserve and play these modern games in the future. Is it going to be next to impossible to play today's games tomorrow through emulation or by using the native console, or have people already found loopholes and such to preserve such stuff? (Sorry if it sounds like I repeated my first paragraph, I'm very tired at the time of writing this post)
  20. A quick message from Dr. Mantis Tobaggan M.D.
