  3. In a tragic COVID-19-related turn of events, my barber of 15 years... moved to Utah.

Okay... it's not all that tragic, relatively speaking. Besides, he's been planning it for years. But now I have to get a new barber.

Although my hair looks so bad right now, I could have the neighbor kid cut it with a weed-whacker and it would only improve it.

  4. If someone should make a Blockbuster movie of Robotron 2084, a) who should direct it, b) write it?, c ) act as hero, last-family-on-Earth, villains, d), make the special effects (and in what style)?

Ishiro Honda would Direct it. David Lynch would write and co-direct it. Bruce Willis would obviously be the star. The SFX would be a mixture of practical and digital effects, so it would be a collaboration between Toho's special effects team, Ray Harryhausen, and Pixar (the 80s Pixar). And John Carpenter would help do the score alongside John Williams and Akira Ikufube, and Co-write it with David Lynch.

This wouldn't exist in real life since some people would be too old (or dead) to make this movie, but it would be cool to see what would happen.

  5. Googled "Florida man" and my birthday. Got "Naked Florida man arrested after stealing pair of crotchless underwear, tells police he's Michael Jackson." Florida sounds like a fun place.

I'd create a thread, but it would definitely end up locked to the NSFW nature of some.

  6. Shot in the dark question, but has anyone here worked at Columbus, Ohio Public Access in the late '90s to early '00s? I've stumbled across a really weird kids show I'd like to know more about. Why am I asking this here? Well, besides YouTube and Twitch, this the only social media platform im on and I'd assume that at least someone may have done technical stuff for their public access channel.

  7. I'm getting really tired of "guest characters" in fighting games.

  8. Atari Age public domain movie night tonight!  Check the thread in Entertainment & Sports for more details!

  9. I think the best scene in the 1993 The Mask is when Jim Carrey sings Cuban Pete, apparently in the Son of the Mask, Jamie Kennedy sings a section of the song, poorly, as Elvis, Elvis never sang Cuban Pete, I can just imagine writing the scene, hey what was that song Jim Carrey sang , uhh Cuban Pete, right?  Let's have him sing a bit of it in this one!  Who sang that anyway, uh it's from the 50s it must have been Elvis!

  10. Finally broke down... said F-it, didn't feel like going to get my haircut and bought myself a Wahl hair clipper. Tried to be careful and used the different extensions, but still ended up looking like this:

  11. don't know which I prefer, the slick uniformity of the sears telegames black boxes, or the fun candy colored atari boxes.

  12. It wasn't Elvis, sorry... Chuck Berry single-handedly invented Rock-N-Roll!

  13. I bought a mint Nintendo 64 console and 2 original Nintendo controllers -- all for $2 at a yard sale today. I feel guilty about wishing it had come with more items. :) It works great.

  14. You know, I find it fascinating that Sega made both the first 3D fighting game and the first fighting game in general.

  15. I think the new Sony PS is going to be online only. Thereby cutting out all possible middlemen! Good on that!

@cybercylon If that's the case, I'm gonna stop buying new systems. Even though I've become less of a physical media elitest, I still want the option to have physical media.

  17. A friend of mine runs a facebook group and has a policy of no political discussions, (much like here). Well, there's a Karen who insisted on pushing politics and is now conducting a harassment and bullying campaign against him because he stood by his policy of no political discussions.  She's messaging all his contacts, spreading libel, and even contacting his employer trying to get him fired (accusing him of being a racist, and supporting a rapist (I don't even know where she comes up with that garbage)).  Keep in mind, he hasn't said or done anything of the sort -- he's just refused to allow political discussions in his group, and for that, she wants to take away his ability to pay rent or buy food.  Oh, and he has a disability and works for a janitorial company that prides itself on hiring ppl with disabilities.  How disgusting she's behaving and doesn't even recognize it.  It made me think of AtariAge and I have to imagine if someone was persisting in demanding to be allowed to post on divisive issues, Al would probably give a warning and then ban.  It made me really appreciate Al's rules for this community.  I don't know where most of you fall politically, and I don't want to know.  We're here because of our love for Atari and retro systems.  It used to be that ppl avoided talking about politics because of the divisive nature and they valued friendship over thought conformity.  Sadly, there are many today who think it's their job to hunt out any issue of disagreement and destroy anyone lacking 100% alignment with their own views.  That's some serious intolerance and self-righteousness, but they can't even see it in themselves.  The fact is, we have much more in common than different and we do much better to focus on commonalities rather than hunting for differences.  My wife is always afraid to respond to so-called friends on facebook who post provocative garbage, for fear they'll unfriend her.  I say if they're looking to unfriend so easily, they aren't friends in the first place.  They certainly have no hesitation to throw their views out there, so she shouldn't be afraid to express hers either.  Or maybe we should keep more of our opinions to ourselves.  But whatever.  Welcome to the planet earth, where billions of people share space and not everyone is the same.

  18. I just found out that Disney is now planning to do a 'live' action/CGI remake of the 1973 Robin Hood film next. 2020 just keeps the misery coming.
