  1. Would anyone attend a monthly-bi-monthly public domain movie night where you can riff on movies and talk with fellow Atariagers? I'm thinking about creating a Discord server for this purpose.

Cool idea! I actually host a bad movie show on public access here in my neck of the woods. Public domain trash flicks, cartoons, even did an episode of all vintage educational movies!

I like it.  I think it's an interesting idea.  Personally though, I'm just too busy this time of year...I'm pretty sure I'd be working and unable to participate...

I decided to go ahead with it. You can look at the movie lineup on the announcement thread:https://atariage.com/forums/topic/306754-coming-soon-atariage-public-domain-movie-night/?tab=comments#comment-4536382

The cheap connect speedpak shipping isn't shipping to North America right now from what I was told. It's DHL, EMS, etc. or nothing right now because of the Apocalypse.

Being of mixed European ancestry (German, English, Polish, Lithuanian), I am constantly at war with myself.  Sometimes my German wants to just take over the other countries and I need to kick my own ass into submission. Ah well, C'est la vie.  Wait a second, I'm not french!  Or am I?

That's weird to prefer cd read errors to no cd read errors.  Seriously shining force 3  and a modded saturn, better save ever 5 seconds or else loose all progress to a read error,

I agree with masschamber. I love 1 system 1 loader solutions. Replacing a drive that is failing or has failed with an SD card is, in my opinion, just upgrading a classic not destroying it.

  16. (See link) I decided to go ahead and write about the topic I had in mind for Lost Gaming Vault, 70s video games! I have written about each game in more detail than the 64DD one, and there are pictures! If you have any ideas for Lost Gaming Vault, just comment on the entry! https://atariage.com/forums/blogs/entry/16666-lost-gaming-vault-70s-video-games/

  18. I'm going to work on another entry for Lost Gaming Vault tomorrow, I have a topic in mind, but it may contain too many games to talk about in detail and I don't want to make another 64DD type entry for a while. If you have any ideas that would be interesting, just reply to this post!

You should make a Food Club.

  19. Vs. Super Mario Bros. is a great psychological game. You're used to the original levels, so every difference in this game almost feels like a betrayal.

    1. retrorussell

      retrorussell

Pretty much all VS. games are decidedly harder than the NES original.  Some just have tougher enemies, and some have a different placement of the level layout at times (like SMB).

  20. I accidentally bought 2 of one item on eBay, so I sent a cancellation request (keep in mind, this was right after I realized I had bought more than one). It got shipped so my request got rejected. Oh well, I guess I'll have two DS chargers.

I ordered 2 GBA battery doors on Ebay a while back for 2 GBAs that where missing battery doors (A white and a clear pink one) so I could sell them... the seller just said send a note of which colors I wanted... instead of getting the 2 colors they were both pink. The seller said he messed up and would send me a white one but it never arrived.

    3. jd_1138

      jd_1138

Yeah that sounds like modus operandi for most sellers.  They instantly marked items "shipped" even if they won't actually be shipped for a day or two.  Kinda sucks, but at least it's something you might need in the future.

    4. DragonGrafx-16

      DragonGrafx-16

As soon as the shipping label is printed it is marked as shipped by Ebay... the seller should have noticed something weird had happened when two different orders of the same item were from the same buyer...

Depends on what kind of BASIC.

If it doesn't matter, try the VIC-20 manual.

If you want to learn a better version of BASIC, the CoCo Extended Color BASIC is also superb.

If you have an old computer, start from its manual. If it's bad, then consult a different manual. If there are no good manuals for your computer(very rare circumstance), then get another computer(or download an emulator, or whatever)
