Do all C64 boxes have the grey label C64 on them?
-
So after putting it off for about 2 years thinking I needed expert soldering skills. I realize the PLA chip on my C64 is socketed!

I didn't know you could lock status updates! You learn something new every day.

Unpopular opinion: the original trilogy is overrated and episode 1 is a great movie.

Behold! The 5-hour long Nickelodeon TV recording! https://mega.nz/#!SB1BEaQI!asYP-SZxzVtore-ENBG1jJjKYTbpKZtpuYX2_pddmoM
I should also add, DON'T WATCH IF YOU HAVE EPILEPSY.

Today I learned Murphy's Law exists.
I was trying to upload a large file to the cloud, and guess what? The one thing that could go wrong, went wrong. My browser went unresponsive.
Life sucks sometimes.

I got good news and bad news about the tape. Good news: The tape's digitized and is safe (it kind of has an echo though). Bad news: the file is 23GB so its gonna take a day or two to upload (internet sucks in my area).

A quick update about the 2000s nick recording: after finding my old capture card, and finding an old VCR I thought was dead, I'm (proud?) to say I'm currently digitizing it and it will be on my Google Drive either in a couple of hours or tomorrow. Be warned though, I'm digitizing a decayed VHS tape using a composite capture card with low-quality AV cables, so don't expect it to be crystal clear. Here's a pic showing how damaged it is after being used for 18 years.
Edit: I feel like I should list all the "features" of this tape.
1. A crap ton of Spongebob (nothing really special)
2. Quite a few segments of the semi-obscure nick variety show Upick-Live (possibly some segments that were never uploaded on the internet!)
3. Lots of both local and national commercials from the early 2000s.
4. A Toonami commercial on Nick (don't know why)
5. An anti-climactic secret that I'm hiding so people will watch the recording. ?
6. Hours of early 2000s TV (However it's all Nick)

There are motion controls in Doom 64. I'm serious.

@Sir Guntz Yes the switch port. I should have elaborated on that.

So I just found a tape I've had since 2007 that has San Diego Nickelodeon tv recordings from the early to mid-2000s it has some SpongeBob episodes and U-pick live segments. However, it's badly degraded. Should I try to find somebody to rip it or should I let the tape die in peace?

Since I'm too broke to buy Doom Eternal at midnight, I'm going to do the next best thing and buy Doom 64 on the eshop at midnight.

I think within the past three days, I've only had about a day and a half worth of sleep.

In these trying times, nothing beats the sweet sounds of Rich Evans.

I don't want to (seriously) talk about COVID-19, But I have to ask this. How do you get people to care about COVID-19? My mother kind of cares about it but she thinks taking oregano oil will keep her safe (yes, she's one of those people, thankfully she lets me get vaccines) and my grandmother just won't listen to me at all. The worst part, they both work at nursing homes and my grandmother's been sick (and she still works while being sick. Irresponsible I know.).

I hear you! Trying to get my Father to take it more seriously. Maybe suggest they watch the CBS Evening News? (That'll scare the pants off of most folks...Unless they're used to the alarmist, reactionary style)...I'm almost with Keatah at this point. Tell them you care about them and want them to be safe and "gently" suggest things...Any commands seem to only make them want to do the opposite.

NES and SNES Online have the best CRT filter. Change my mind.

I tried Oolong Tea for the first time (the canned stuff by Pokka). Way too rich and strong for me to enjoy. I'll stick to Green Tea for now.

The COVID-19 thread looks like it's gonna get out of hand...

I mentioned that on 7 ups status. It's only a matter of time till Al jumps in with the ban hammer and starts knocking everyone down a peg or two. It's seems people are getting aggressive when others disagree no matter which side of the fence you're on. Quite childish considering we're all supposed to be intelligent adults. I expect this behavior on Facebook but never thought the AA community would act like that...

I find it more sad than interesting that people are egging on the paranoid by saying it's the end of their life because of this virus. Then only to get heated when someone disagrees with their statement. Reading others expressing their fear and panic with ill advised non professional advice isn't all that great either. My two cents...

I don't understand why some commercials use old songs with a bunch of innuendos in them. I mean, the majority of people alive today were alive when the original song came out so they know what the song's about.

There are people up at night right now worrying about COVID-19, yet I'm up at night thinking about all the unspeakable things dolphins do.

(I'm truly sorry to rant, but this has been in my mind for a while)
Why is it that some old people (60+) demand they get the respect/benefits that old people usually get, yet, refuse to acknowledge/accept their old?!? It doesn't matter if you feel like Stallone or if you feel like Granny Smith, you can't eat your cake and have it too!
To clarify, I don't hate old people (I actually really respect them), I just hate the small minority that I mentioned above.

Here's a sad fact of the day: 90% of films made before 1929 may be permanently lost.

@GoldLeader That sounds like either Greed or Birth of A Nation. It was probably Greed though since Birth of A Nation isn't really safe for work.
