    I hate to admit I have more digital switch games than physical.

      Sometimes, digital games are cheaper than physical when they are on sale.

      I have way, way more digital games on the Switch... but that's largely because I buy lots of small games, arcade ports and the like, saving physical media for the bigger stuff. 

       

      It also helps that, unlike on the Wii, stuff goes on sale in the Switch store quite frequently.

      Buying digital games are smarter when it comes to playing since you don't have to carry around the physical games. It's a complete pain in the butt to carry around bulky oversized Switch cases(so I don't). However, when it comes to collecting, it is worthless since collecting is all about physical media. I think it's like buying a Harmony cart instead of real Atari cartridges in a way.

    Playing Atari is a lot like dumpster diving. You're going to find some needles and used toilet paper, but sometimes you'll find that nice leather jacket or a $100 bill.

    On a scale of 1-10, how f***ed is my Atari 800XL if I use the "ingot" power supply but unplug it after use?

      There is no scale.  Obviously, if the ingot supply is good at the time, there is no damage.  if it is broken (over volt), your machine is trashed, so therefore a 10.  But it's not a sliding scale - it's either fine, or busted.  Kind of like the STD game if you will.  You can go poking around for ever, and be fine.  But the ont time when you are not fine, it's too late, because you are now broken.

    Did you ever hear the tragedy of Lord Karnage?

     

    I thought not. It's not a story AVGN would tell you. It's a CGR legend. Lord Karnage was a Lord of the retro games, so powerful and so wise he could use Youtube to influence the audience to love retro games... He had such a knowledge of the retro games that he could even get his video games from one guy in Qatar. The dark side of the internet is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his audience, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic, he could save others from death, but not himself.

      I get his frustration. He put some actual time / effort / production into his stuff. He seems content doing publishing and quickie, off the cuff comic reviews on YouTube right now, so it's not like it had a tragic ending or anything.

      I don't blame him for not putting anything on YT anymore... Google really cheaps out on ad revenue payments unless it's some obnoxious gameplay streams, a dime a dozen on Twitch.  And now the FTC wants to fine YT'ers for having child targeted ads even though it's Google that puts them on.  The only way for anyone to get money for making professionally made videos is either through Patron e-begging or VPN ads.

      @atari2600land basically it's just another version of Y2K except this time it has something to do with the UTC going back to 1901. I guess whoever created UTC didn't think about the future.

    Is there any difference at all between an Atari 5200 and an A8 (internally)?

      The 5200 has only 16K of RAM and lacks the PIA (6520) and most of the functions of the A8 OS.  The memory map is also different, so the cartridge ROM and the GTIA and POKEY registers are in different locations.  See here for more details.

    How do you load a disc on an Atari 8-bit?

      Often those are auto booting, so insert disk and power on computer. Perhaps hold down Option if you've got a XE/XL computer and the program is so large that you must disable built-in BASIC.

      Make sure you turn on the drive first and wait for it to stop spinning, then insert the disk and when it stops spinning (again)...then you can turn on the Atari.

       

      Otherwise you'll get the words "BOOT ERROR" all over your screen.

      Depends on the included games really... and if you already have an NA SNES there's no point in getting a Super Famicom...

      I agree the games will make a difference here...If 1 is baseball, 2 are pachinko, and 1 is a tile game...That price better include my labor of disposing of the crap games haha...In general if you want to sell,  check ebay (real prices not ridiculous Buy It Nows), then go lower...How much lower depends on how quickly you wish to sell...
