Whatever happened to the pictures of all the different controllers? I remember there was a whole section back in the A2N days.

Hardware: Atari 2600 Jr. (Short Rainbow) Sears Telegames (4 switch) Atari VCS (6 Switch) Atari VCS (6 Switch) 3 broken consoles Periferals: 9 regular controllers 3 gemsticks 3 Wico Command joysticks 1 "pistol grip" joystick (brand ?) 1 Pointmaster joystick Games: About 25 or so My favorite stuff is the game catalogs. In particular, one from 1983 in which a lot of the stuff never made it.

Hmmm. nobody has mentioned the problem I had with Jr. Pac Man. Is it just me, or is it very hard to see? I guess "contrast" is the term I'm looking for. Ayone else?

Well, here's my take. The first game I plugged into my 7800 after I bought it was Mario Bros. I was not impressed at all. However, I am equally unimpressed with the Atari 5200 controllers. Out of the 13 given to me, I got about 3 to work properly. What does impress me a little bit is the Atari 400 computer I have. I liken the graphics to the 5200 and can use my 2600 controllers. Can't beat that. I assume a 800 computer would be much the same.

excellent resource. Every day I look through the posts and get little pieces of great info. The latest "revelation" I had: Atari 7800 carts are more square on the bottom than many of my 2600 carts. This makes some games (Spider Fighter in my case) very difficult to jam into my 7800. Who'd have thought it?

Worst 2600 game I have and what is the worst ever?
fmctm1sw replied to bergbros's topic in Atari 2600
I got to put my 2 cents in on this one. I must say Airlock was a horrible game. Even as a 10 year old, I realized this game had nothing to do with what was described on the package -
I have one with no (well, two broken) controllers. Do you want to buy or trade? If so, what do you have to trade? P.S. If I don't reply right away, it's because I went out of town for a couple days.....

I can't even get that downloaded, help?

I (and many others) would be very appreciative of such a thing. But I am just certain I could already download a printable rarity guide from here.
-
Yeah, I thought there used to be a "printer friendly" downloadable version right here. I have one for the 2600 in a .doc and even a .xls file. The .xls is sweet but I need the 5200 and 7800 rarity guides too. I can't remember how I did it

I thought I did. But it's Super Pitfall for Tandy color computer 3.

I know I downloaded it before, how did I do it?

Hey, thats good to know info. I have 3 power supplies and 2 5200's. I never knew which was for which, just that they both worked with any power supply. Cool

I'm 2 for 2 on controller repair so far. And to think my 5200 has been collecting dust because I had no controllers..... Thanks again.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the prompt help. I already learned about not centering the joystick and moving the potentiometers the HARD way. I'll try it out later ad let you know how I turn out. That was a very good article, some of my keypad buttons don't work either
-
I tried to clean them with the same isopropyl alcohol I clean my games with. That didn't work. What exactly do you mean by "flexboard?" It looks to me like the rubber reset/pause/start buttons are supposed to push down onto a grid. I cleaned both the grid and the rubber circular contacts.

Sorry, I forgot one. My 5200 VCS adapter will work with my 2 port 5200 but not my 4 port 5200. Is that normal?

I have a few general questions I'd love help with. 1] I have a fairly diversified collection of old home video games but my 5200 is a little lacking. I have 12 broken controllers. Most have the particularly frustrating problem of inoperative start/pause/reset buttons. Anyone have any alternative controller ideas or repair tips? (I'm no dummy when it comes to electronics so I'm willing to solder, etc.) 2] Next, I was under the (apparantly mistaken) impression that I could buy new controllers and select games from Radio Shack's catalogs. The lady at the store thought I was nuts, saying the catalogs were out of date before they even got them. Anyone buy anything from them? 3] That brings me to my next point. Where are people (on eBay especially) getting "new in box" controllers and the like? I thought this stuff was 20 years old.
