  3. Yeah M2 would've been the best hardware of the Saturn, PlayStation, Nintendo 64 generation. It had more polygon pushing power than the PS1 combined with all the effects N64 could do and better, had 8 MB unified RAM, and a 4x CD-ROM drive. Matsushita claimed M2 was on par with Sega's Model 3 arcade board, but in reality developers said M2 had 2 to 3 times the polygon performance of N64, which was still very good, and placed M2 above the original 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics chipset. http://imageshack.us...ormyth02eg4.jpg 3DO Systems, which became CagEnt within Samsung, were also developing M2's successor, the MX. One version of MX was going to have embedded RAM on the graphics processor. Nintendo saw the MX around 1997 and wanted CagEnt to redesign it around a MIPS CPU instead of PowerPC, and use that as the basis for the successor to N64. It was slated for release in Japan at the end of 1999. ArtX and Nintendo decided that a PowerPC CPU from IBM would be best. Thus, Project Dolphin / GameCube came to be, starting in 1998, mainly designed in 1999, shown to the public at Space World 2000, (then ArtX was bought out by ATI) and released in fall 2001.
  4. Hi, great videos man--I've always wanted to play that version of The Rock. I don't remember where I got the files, they very well may have been yours. I tried those cracked .exe's -both with nGlide and GlideWrapper084c. I'm getting the same results, nothing. Except with nGlide it goes to a black screen, I see the 3Dfx splash screen, then back to the desktop with a small black window appearing for a second. No game... I cannot get this to work no matter what I do. I've tried compatibility with Windows 98 / ME, XP and 7. I'm totally stumped.
  5. I am now thinking I won't be able to get Rush The Rock to work on my laptop. Not only do I not have a 3Dfx card, I don't even have a dedicated GPU from Nvidia or AMD. All I have is Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics :/
  6. I've tried GlideWrapper084c and mess around with all the settings and Windows compatibility modes. Nothing. Maybe it's because my laptop doesn't have an AMD or Nvidia card. I've only got Intel HD 3000. Could that be the problem?

  8. This is not about Midway Arcade Treasures 3 which I have for Xbox, PS2 and GameCube (2005) and was also released on PC (2006). I'm talking about the PC version of San Francisco Rush the Rock - Alcatraz Edition that originally came with, and only worked on, the Quantum3D Raven Banshee (3Dfx) card released in 1998. some footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86aUzcyVaOE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JRPK827Q4Y I don't have a 3Dfx or Quantum3D card but it's supposed to work on just about any PC with a Glide wrapper. I've tried various wrappers, all kinds of settings, etc. The most I can get is a black window that pops up for 1 sec, then, nothing. I really want to play this version of The Rock since the MAT3 versions are all terrible and it's not playable in MAME yet, although the first one, San Francisco Rush Extreme Racing, is. Any help would be so much appreciated.

  12. It wasn't Sega's choice of chipset / graphics chip that caused Dreamcast to fail. It was their terrible reputation with consumers, developers, publishers, retail, etc. from the disasters with SegaCD, and more notably, 32X and Saturn. With that said, Sega's path to choosing a chipset was a very long one. It started sometime before the November 1994 launch of Saturn in Japan and ended in July of 1997.   14. The physical disc release would be the one to own if you can play import Japanese games on your PS3 because of the porting quality. It's apparently being developed in-house by an internal Capcom team staffed with the developers of the original D&D arcade games which ran on the CPS2 hardware.
