Now you come to mention that, I think I had that once as well. I said to the guy yeah but I own my own domain and I've set up my own email accounts but he wasn't listening. You're 100% right and |that's as dumb as it gets.

I manually validate accounts here in order to cut down on spammers getting through, and it works fairly well (how often do you see spammers here?)  However, I will sit on accounts I'm suspicious of, and I can be suspicious of accounts for multiple reasons.  If someone writes me and asks why their account hasn't been validated, that's usually a good sign that it's a legitimate person.
