  1. This may seem basic, but I can't find an RS 232 interface cable to hook up my PEB to my Texas Intruments 99/4 Impact Printer.

Anyone know where I can get one?

    Thanks for your help.

  2. So, thank you to you who were kind enough to help.  What did the trick was moving the disk controller card to the second slot.  I didn't know that card could be moved. I thought it immovable, like the flex cable interface.  Anyway, after all that, that's what ended up being the fix.

  3. Thank you both, I will try these options and let you know.
  4. Yes, each PEB has its own controller, RS 232, 32K and flex cable interface. Just dropped one PEB in place of the other.
  5. So, everyone (but me) has heard this one, right? I have a PEB that has worked well for many years, mostly. I notice with this system that there are times when it does not respond - at all. But 99% of the time all is good. Well, starting last Friday the disk drive just decided it was going to stop reading disks. Spin, spin, spin, red lights then nothing. Checked the connections, pulled the drive, nothing evident, put it back together, still nothing. Fortunately, I have another PEB, a complete one. Swap it out, problem solved. Until this morning. Same thing, no response spin, spin, spin red lights and all. There is no way both of these units have crapped out at the same time. Everything I can tell, regarding the console seems fine. It can see the 32K in TI writer the cassette reads in etc, Though I am going to switch out the console to see if that helps and hook up a parallel printer to see if Basic can see that through the box, I believe the original problem will persist. So, I wanted to get this into the ether to see if this can be resolved. I am sure somebody out there has seen this. Thanks for your help.
  6. Hi all, new to the group. Had my original TI since 1982. When I got the collection back out, recently, I started reading the manuals that came with the PEB. In the disk controller manual I found out about the terminal resistor if you only have one drive. This explains the single disk processing option in the disk manager module. I didn't tear into the mounted disk drive to look at it but assumed it was there. Is this something that can easily be removed, stored and reinstalled when desired? Can an additional one be obtained and are they cheap? Does anyone have a pic of one? That will save me breaking mine, so to speak, to look at the one that must be on my drive. Thanks for any help!
