  1. I was going to list one in the box fairly soon as well, and was looking for the $25 range... sadly, for such an awesome little system, they don't tend to be worth much. Ive found more of them at yard sales than 2600 and 7800.

    AX

yeah it's a cool little system, it just never hit it big in the US... Shame because there are a few good games for it, and the box art is pretty cool too...

  2. Maybe it is a good idea to stay away from vendoogle I like some of the suggestions here for sure

What are everyone's thoughts about a .net vs. a .com. Does it really matter any more? I really like Junkanew and .net is available -- .com is not. As I said before its a Bahamian Party so I could have an Islandy flair to the site which always wins people over. JunkAnew.net.

you need to go with a dot com. I'm tend to type the name I'm going to and hitting ctrl+enter which fills in the www. & .com for me. I've done it that way for so many years that I don't even think about it. so times if I'm hitting a .edu or .net site, I have to backtrack and fix it if it's not in my drop down list of sites I frequent.

  3. 1: How many different titles, counting same game by different company as a different title, do you have in your 2600 collection?

Odyssey 2, C64, NES, Genesis, PS1, N64, Flashback 2, bunch of Jakks plug n plays

    whenever, wherever

    Not yet

  4. Combat is a good game when played by two motivated players of reasonable skill. It is essentially useless otherwise.

I agree. I really love this game when I have someone I can play against. But since that doesn't happen very often, there are countless other games I usually play instead.

By this logic, then Warlords is the crappiest of crap that ever crapped because you need to have 3 other friends and two sets of paddles to truly enjoy this game.

Note * I think Warlords is awesome and when friends come over it always gets game play....

  5. It amazes me how much debate on how "crappy" Pac-Man is for the 2600. When I was a kid, I didn't think it was a bad game. I thought it was so "totally awesome" to get to play it at home in my bedroom any time I wanted. To my recollection, no one I knew complained about it either. As a matter of fact, owning Pac-man for the 2600 was a badge of honor, bragging rights even, to our friends who still haven't pestered their parents enough to get their own copy. Sure it wasn't the real deal like the arcade, but in my mind at age 8 and the minds of my peers, it was close enough. We can look back and pick apart every game made back then and say look how badly they are done in comparison with today's standards, or look at the code and figure out mistakes made and what they should have done, hindsight is after all 20/20. When I play them now, I don't analyze them and pick them apart, I just kick back and it's me against my high score. Sure there were some games I didn't care for as much as others, but back then Pac-Man wasn't one of the bad ones.

  6. I've actually added a few 2600 games since I last took pictures. I have about 200 now. I have three 2600's, two of which are Jr's, and one of those is my first video game console from 1987. The six boxed games below that are separate from the other boxed games are sealed. The other ones are open, though some are still in the shrink wrap. I am the original owner of most of the boxed games... my grandpa is the original owner of the others.

I also have a 7800 with about 30 games and two A8 computers with a dozen or so games. My grandpa was the original owner of the 7800 and most of the games... which are still boxed.

Aren't those sticks on the lower left for the Odyssey2? Any chance you are looking to get rid of those?

What's the story on the black NES looking joypad on the lower right?

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned that. :) Yes, they are O2 controllers, however in an effort to make my vintage controllers compatible I rewired them to be 2600 compatible, then made an adapter for them to plug into my O2. Now my O2 can work with O2 or 2600 controllers.

As for the NES pad, I picked that as well as the dissected 7800 controller up from a flea market for a few bucks, to make a 7800 game pad. I didn't want to destroy my original 7800 sticks. Since, the grey color doesn't really match the 7800 I used some plastic/vinyl spray paint to make it black. I plan on printing some custom decals evantually... just haven't gotten around to it.

Aw man, I totally didn't even think of making an adapter for the O2, that makes a whole lot more sense than rewiring a spare cx-40 for testing purposes. Thanks dude for the great idea...

  8. I saw this picture and I knew it would be a winner-- I knew it would be a winner anyway, though. Playing left handed. Cool.

yep, us lefties have learned to adapt well to the right handed environment. Sadly though my boy plays it right handed.

  9. if anyone is sitting on the fence trying to decide whether or not to order one, I highly recommend purchasing it...

    read my review here:

    http://www.retroblast.com/20081103717/Hard...-Controller.php

Nice review, we should probably link to it when we post in other forums, one question though, is the stick you reviewed a proto or from production?

The stick I reviewed was a proto. Curt has assured me the the production sticks will meet the same high quality. I will be shipping the proto back to Curt in about a week, so if anyone has any questions from a usage standpoint, I can try to answer them.
