some have a piece of paper with a date stamped on it taped to the inside (think pre-sticky notes)
others you can tell by the first 2 numbers in the serial number for example:
My Vader: S.N. TR-83-0409064 was built in 1983
My Tele-Games: S.N. 81-293370 was built in 1981
My Woody: S.N. 81491583 was built in 1981
these 3 serial numbers came off three of my systems that I happened to have opened for cleaning and saw the small paper taped inside with a stamped with the build date. I have seen this also in a few other Ataris that followed the same trend that I had given out to friends hoping they too would catch the Atari collecting bug...
I'm not sure if this was always the case or just happened on the ones I have had....

I remember a link to order replacement switches for the 2600, but now I can't find it... can someone help me out with the link?

You're looking for trashy 2600 games? Check out Karate, Pac-Kong, Custer's Revenge, Bachelor Party, Beat 'em and eat 'em, Cathouse Blues, Communist Mutants from Space, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Music Machine, Pick Up, Oink!, Picnic, Sneak'n Peek, Strawberry Shortcake, X-Man.I actually like Oink!

Well I fixed my Apollo carts using a glue stick and I was happy with the results. Thanks for your input guys......

I have a Williams Space Shuttle and I love it...
I voted, Yes you should get one...
-
So some of my labels are falling off the carts. Considering they have been stuck there for over 20 years I guess you got to expect it. What type of adhesive is best?
The ones that are comming off are on my Apollo carts.
Thanks for your input.

My transaction went smoothly with him as well. I left feedback in the comment section of his profile. I was very happy with the whole transaction.
Thanks again.

don't know what I can do to help, my collection consist of <200 games and I only have a handful of boxes carts which are not in the best of conditions, but I'd be willing to help any way I can.....Cool, thanks! Please PM me so I'll have a list altogether of interested parties for when we start this up. I'm sure it will be a month before we get settled in our new place and into our new jobs. I'll start a new thread when the time comes to announce it.
PM sent..

Just do it in Photoshop. I think Illustrator may make it too complicated. The hard part is making a template. I would just use the Combat one for starters.Allan
Yeah I was going to convert Paul's templates to psd format and take out the combat layers. I think I'll try to tackle River Raid since I didn't see any gradients to deal with.

This is why I wanted to start a high-res (and I mean *high-res*, not low or medium) box/manual art scan archive awhile back, but there didn't seem to be much interest at that time. Probably because I admittedly didn't present it properly. I think this community could benefit greatly long-term from that sort of project.I'll soon be in a better position to work on that... I'm moving 1200 miles away on Friday. I'll try a new announcement after we get settled in. In the meantime, if anyone here is interested in helping out with this, send me a PM so we can have a list of interested parties once it gets going.

We got a small group that plays UT 2004 or FlatOut2 about every Friday night... We all use teamspeak so we can bs with each other as we play.

keep us updated on your results Allen. The card stock I used was the standard you pick up at wall-mart. Since mine are for display purposes they don't need to be perfect. I may play around with Photoshop and may even try to learn a little with Illustrator to make some more. I'm going for mostly common cart boxes first since they are the most recognizable. I am going to have to rummage through the box scans here and see what I should start out with.

So I made a Frogger box yesterday using the templates, I used standard card stock since I was just testing the waters with it. But overall I think it came out nicely.

I hope the original poster hasn't lost interest and plans on upping more designs since my photoshop/gimp skills are lacking. Next I will make a combat box.
These are going to be displayed nicely in my cubicle at work. I will make some nicer ones with proper materials to display in my gameroom.

Sorry, it's kinda hard to take a pic of round pencils! The artwork is pretty neat. I'd say they were Atari 2600 pencils as there's a couple 2600-only games in there, but then there's also Tempest. Unless this was when they were planning to release Tempest for the 2600?Those pencils are really cool!
Do you remember where you bought them? While Tempest was being developed for the Atari 2600, what I noticed is that each of your pencils corresponds exactly to the series of 10 double-sided cardboard flats/posters released by Atari (marketed by ArtFaire and sold for 79 cents each).Asteroids
Battlezone
Centipede
Haunted House
Missile Command
Star Raiders
Super Breakout
Tempest
Warlords
Yars' Revenge
Thanks for the list and pics. I did not know how many of these there are. I am missing Super Breakout, Asteroids and Centipede. I have seen Breakout and Asteroids on e-bay once, but was outbid on them. I have never seen an Centipede one either.... I have the rest of them

I did the NES controller mod. Worked great. I think the instructions I used were from here. Still prefer the joystick though...slik stik!maybe, but SlikStik started taking orders and money from customers and failing to produce a product.
-
Since he requires arcade style controls have you considered building an arcade control panel and then hacking a joystick to get the functionality you need?
The guys at arcadecontrols.com might be able to give you some pointers

I hope you continue to do video reviews. You have inspired me to work on some video reviews. I currently am working on a Vanguard review. I have some footage already but need to decide what to say and figure out how to edit my footage together. I may be trying to hard, but just want it done right.
anyways, I'm not sure the history behind this post and why you are seeking forgiveness. That's between you and whoever else is involved. I haven't been to active on this forum, but have noticed you are one of the guys who sticks out for keeping the memories of Atari alive.
so yes, continue with the reviews.

Do all Atari 7800 games work on an Atari 2600?
in Atari 2600

I think it's the other way around. 2600 games work on a 7800. I don't think 7800 will work for a 2600. or at least my 7800 pole position doesn't work with any of my 2600s.
