Sure. I assumed I had shipped all replacement nameplates by now, as that was done a couple of years ago. In case you don’t have a pre-order in this run, please send us an email and Grazi will take care of your nameplate. :)

    I think arcades do too...

Not interested in MAME(hate all the hassle of going from PC to CRT) i dont have the time or money to wire a arcade cabinet..

I want to be able to play arcade perfect ports(not revised versions) of Zaxxon,Popeye, Gorf etc..from my couch with my colecovision on CRT.(with a real physical media i can hold in my hands)

I think maybe in a naive way i am hoping that the SGM2 + Collector vison + Pixel Boy would deliver on that account.

Once all the early classic arcade games have been covered i will then look into brand new games.

So here is the plan, for Q1 2020. Release Pac-Man DX and a certain long waited game. Long waited game will require a very unusual distribution method. It will involve sending me a particular original CV cartridge that isn't working properly and that requires fixing. I will then fix the cartridge and send it back to you. Luckily you will be able to play your beloved pack-in again.

Hardware wise I will be beta testing Super Game Controller and SGM2.

After those I will have to decide: I can get one more major SGM1 release, or I can focus 100% on the SGM2/OMNI. Will see and CollectorVision may have a saying on this.

Is it 100% certain that you will release arcade perfect ports of classics fore the SGM2?(Zaxxon, Front Line etc..) or maybe Collectorvision will?

The above is more of the same old same old Opcode said they'd rather avoid.  Surely any CV fan would have already played these games to death and prettier versions aren't really enough, especially as homebrews are soooo darn expensive. I personally want new games.  The only exception for me would be Zaxxon.  The choppy scrolling bugs me so much, I've not played it much.  I'd love an arcade quality, creamy smooth scrolling version of that.  Would also love some of the other possibilities Opcode have mentioned as possible Omni titles such as 1942, Commando, Tiger Heli and Rygar.  If CV versions are done as well as Omni, then f18a compatibility would have to be implemented for improved graphics and smooth scrolling.

Where can i play a perfect arcade port of Popeye or Moon Patrol at home?(aside from MAME) seriously if these early 80 games are not in the SGM2 future, then im not intersested...i have the mid to late 80's games covered with my Pc engine,NES, Genesis consoles.

  5. Now that is a great nick.

That is all correct. In fact most arcades from the early 80s were just like that, 2 or 3 CPUs in parallel, each taking care of a subsystem.

How close can you get to the real hardware in the terms of graphical fidelity? Is the SGM2 considered emulation because the game is not running the real hardware? or another way to look at it, is which part of the hardware actually gives the original look that seems so hard to replicate?

  6. So if i understand correctly lets take for example

The new Zaxxon game will be on a SGM2 cart that will plug into the SGM2 cartridge slot right?

And the SGM2 module is still using parts of the CV cpu do get work done?

    Thanks!

  7. First of all, I really like your nickname. :)

Yes, the SGM2 gives the CV new graphic capabilities. 2 scroll planes, sprites as big as 64x64 pixels, thousands of tiles and sprites to select from, 256 colors (from a 32,000 color palette) on screen and more.

The SGM2 gives the CV a new backward compatible 16-bit CPU (24 bit linear address and all), while the CV CPU still works as the sound and I/O CPU for the system. It is a fast system, about 6MIPS, 10 times faster than a regular CV. Very game oriented.

Because the CPU is backward compatible, games created for the CV can be easily upgraded to use the SGM2. There are some graphic features of the SGM2 that we aren’t discussing yet that I am sure CV fans will love to see in action.

And I didn’t even touch the sound capabilities here.

So if i understand correctly the sgm2 will work in collaboration with the CV hardware.

Will these new capabilities give you the ability to make "arcade perfect" ports of lets say Zaxxon and DK?

Thank you again for your dedicated work toward our small niche market! its very appreciated! :)

  8. Pick any 4 you would like to see ported for SGM2/OMNI. In addition to regular mode, games get enhanced modes with improved graphics, sound and depending on the game, extra content.

    - Moon Patrol

    - Zaxxon

    - Donkey Kong

    - Donkey Kog Jr

    - Pengo

    - Ms Pac-man

    - Galaga

    - Rally-X

    - Frogger

    - Jungle King

    - Elevator Action

Hi Eduardo, when you say "enhanced graphics mode" does this mean that the SGM 2 will give the CV to display more on screen colors? will the SGM 2 work in tandem with the CV hardware? or will the CV just be a pass thru?

    Thank you!
