  1. Here you go, super burnout, exactly the same with real cart and jagsd rom.

With my second Jag it is perfect, no clicks. Both are a bit quiet. I tried a composite lead which was fractionally louder but obviously worse image

Listen carefully at 3, 6 and 10 seconds, single click then at 18 secs a load of them. The sound doesn't get quieter over time so perhaps capacitors are ok and this is just a slightly dodgy audio chip. Not a big deal but just curious especially as my other jag doesn't have the problem

  2. RGB Scart cable into a switcher then CRT. Two Jags, it only does it on one of them. Super Burnout happens randomly. Pinball Fantasies I think it always does it at one point during the intro music so I will try and record it. Other than that it's very rare.

My second Jag using same connection/cart/roms is OK hence thinking it's something capacitor related or a slightly dodgy sound chip. I will try and record tonight

    thanks

  3. Hi, my Jag suffers from the occasional sound click, it does it during the intro of Pinball Fantasies and a fair bit in Super Burnout, both original cart and via SD. Only noticed it a couple of times in other games.

I picked up another Jag and that one is fine so I'm guessing it is probably a capacitor issue on the sound circuit somewhere of my first one? They are both quieter in general than all my other systems even with the in game sound options turned up to the max, still fine but noticeable, not sure if this is just a Jag thing or if they both could do with a recap.

It's odd as it does it straight away from power on whereas my CD32 is OK for about an hour then the sound starts breaking up and getting really quiet

    thanks

Ok I just got my GDEMU installed, is there a good guide for setting up the SD card?  I have a bunch of GDI/track files but I'm not sure how to add them to the SD card so the GDEMU menu sees them (I hear there's a program that can help with that).  Any help would be appreciated.

BTW I can do this in Windows if I have to, but something that runs in Linux or in Wine would be best.

EDIT: Ok I figured out that you need to put the GDI files in sequentially numbered folders.  That's going to be a pain to do manually.  Hopefully I can figure out that program.

I posted on page one, post 4 with a link and you replied to it...

  5. The steering in Daytona is so overly sensitive it's ridiculous, not sure they actually play tested it. With it set to minimum in the options it is OK but would be better if you could make it a bit slower. Graphics and gameplay wise it is a great port.

  6. That insert above looks fine. Yer Windows 10 can't do FAT32 over 32GB but there are a couple of programs which will. If it is definitely formatted to FAT32 then it should be fine although I have read of the odd incompatible card but my Sandisk have been ok, one is a full size SD the other a Micro.

I plan to get a Mode/Fenir for one of my Saturns as it just makes life so much easier.

  7. @Stephen  could still be a fake card I guess although with my one the SD Card Maker would randomly fail writing data. Did you make sure your card is formatted as FAT32? Most larger ones come as exFAT which won't work in the DC but would explain why the PC could view it fine. Try one of the card formatters here https://www.retrorgb.com/sdformat.html

@Tempest Well, I have read of lots of people who don't do anything to the PSU and it is OK, my link above shows how to fit a resister to help. The problem is with nothing using the 12v the voltage gets higher as it isn't pulled down.

You can remove the 12v bit from the PSU but RGB Scart requires that, probably not an issue in the USA as I don't think you have it. The 3D printed insert will help a bit with cooling.

In both of mine I have swapped the main jet engine loud fan for a Noctua one. In one of them I have a Pico PSU so that is smaller and cooler. In the other I have the standard PSU so I fitted another 12v quiet fan to keep it cool and make sure there weren't any PSU heat issues.

The inserts also help with getting to the card. The one of mine with twin fans and no insert is a pain to reach in and get the card out without dropping it

  8. The cheap chinese clones off ebay work fine, just don't try and update the firmware.

Get a proper Sandisk card off somewhere like Amazon, not ebay. I had a 128GB before which was clearly fake as I kept getting corruption over 32GB. Got a couple of sandisk off Amazon which are fine, 128 and 200

Then get the SD Card maker program, it is literally drag and drop, see on this page for a guide https://retrogamesultra.com/2019/02/17/sega-dreamcast-gdemu-installation-and-setup/

  9. You want the newer red ones. The older ones like K Rod linked you have to flash them yourself with PsuedoKai

There are a few versions of the new red one. You want the 4 in 1 I think it is called. It has a switch so you can run it as a 4 meg expansion, 1 meg or as a normal backup cart so you can copy the contents of your consoles backup/saves to it. They come with PsuedoKai already installed

  10. +4 was my first computer, my parents bought it, probably swayed by the "incredible" built in software and no doubt told it was good for education or something. I only really played games on it so a C64 would have been better. Still, it was a fun machine and did me ok until I saved up for a 500

Those colour images in higher res are very impressive!

So much subtlety in a Jeff Minter game.  People seem to miss this, or dismiss things as just derivative when it's these small nuances that turn a mediocre game into something super addictive.  To this day, his stuff is like that.

Yer I've played it tons on the Jag but the Saturn version just felt slightly odd, will try it again, also need more skill as can't get beyond about level 40 unlike lots of people on here! :)

  12. Yep picked them up as they were released. There are a few with the odd bug etc but most can be played to completion. There is a compatibility faq out there on the forum where they are released but not sure if you are allowed to link to another one.

Some impressive games. Reminds me that there are now a couple of light gun ones as well which I haven't tried yet.
