  2. Digital Lard (England) posted an interview with me regarding Beggar Prince, Super Fighter Team and et cetera. *** Digital Lard interview with Brandon Cobb *** Orders will begin shipping to pre-order customers just before the end of the month, in the order in which they were received. On the day of shipment, customers will receive a confirmation e-mail. If you have any other questions specifically for me, in regard to Beggar Prince, you'll usually get a much quicker responce if you send the questions directly to me by e-mail. I don't always get the chance to swing by the forums and check the latest posts.
  3. Eventually we will have a mailing list set up for potential customers. At that time, I'll certainly make a post about it here. In the mean time, the French website Pockett.net has posted a preview write-up of Zaku, based on the author's experience with the game at the Retrogaming Connexion last month. AtariAge visitors from France may find it especially interesting... --- Pockett.net previews Zaku ---
  4. Extra special thanks to everyone who came by and enjoyed trying out ZAKU in all its glory at the RGC in France. Your reactions to and comments about the game were all very inspiring. As always, we promise to bring nothing but the best to the classic gaming world.

  11. What I didn't like about Raiden for the Lynx: + Must play holding the Lynx sideways + No in-game music + Little enemy / A.I. variation + Bland graphics + No ending (the game's unfinished) It gets pretty old, pretty fast. When playing, it feels dull and lonely... lackluster, considering what Raiden was on other systems.
  12. I've finished Shadow of the Beast. In case anyone is interested: - The ending can be viewed here. - The final boss and ending sequence save states for Handy can be downloaded here.

  18. Beggar Prince was originally developed and released by C&E, who at the time was Taiwan's largest entertainment software developer. They sold 10,000 copies of the game on the Taiwan market. The reason they were not licensed developers under Sega was because Sega didn't extend that courtesy to Taiwan companies. The English release was made possible through the efforts of professional Megadrive programmers who were able to debug the game reasonably more efficiently than C&E, providing for the final product to be in English as well as be much more stable. In addition, everything (game board, cartridge shell, box, manual) were created brand-new, especially for the product. I would figure 'commercially produced' is a more appropriate term than 'homebrew'.
  19. The Super A'Can is a 16-bit game console very close in hardware to the Neo*Geo home unit. It was Taiwan's first (and so far only) attempt at a completely original game system. Unfortunately, despite the collaborative efforts of some of Taiwan's biggest software developers, the A'Can completely failed on the market, losing its creators millions of dollars. During its short time on the market, only twelve games were released for the Super A'Can, with at least two more in development. Accessories and add-ons were planned for the machine, such as a "Super Color" booster, mocked up to look like Sega's 32x, which would supposedly have increased the A'Can's power by an insane amount. A CD-ROM add-on was likely also planned, as the system has a CD-ROM access port on its right side. However, neither hardware upgrade made it past the concept stage. The A'Can isn't exactly rare, considering that hundreds of thousands of units remained unsold before they were sold off to the USA as scrap parts. However, outside of Taiwan the system is, generally, quite unheard of. I happen to own several machines and each of the twelve games released; the game library is nothing special at all, and especially uninteresting if you are unable to read Chinese. You definitely won't be satisfied with the games if you're paying more than $10 for any of them - and I guarantee you, you will pay more than $10 for them. For more information [?], check the Super A'Can article on Wikipedia, which I didn't start myself but which I did make numerous corrections and additions to. The official AC adaptor outputs at 8.5V 1.2A. The original Sega Genesis power supply can be used in its place. On the other hand, despite having the same connector pinout as the A'Can controllers, Sega Genesis controllers cannot be used.
  20. I brought a Lynx with me to work, once. A co-worker enjoyed playing Qix on it, as compared to the lame Gameboy version of the game. His only complaint was the usual one - "Why is the system so damn large?" On a seperate occasion, I brought the Supervision with me to work. While my friend played the game "Witty Cat" on it, all the way on the other side of the room, a customer complained that the game's music (or, as he put it, "What's that awful noise?") was distracting him from the conversation we were having. I promptly asked my friend to turn the sound down, much to the pleasure of everyone in the room.
  21. Toki gets a 10, in my book. Its Lynx adaption is closer to the arcade original than any other home version. The sound and music are both sharp (even includes the "Save me!" spoken line in the 'continue?' screen). The gameplay is great and all aspects of the game (level design, pitfalls, enemies, etc.) have been faithfully reproduced. The only negative about this game are the somewhat off graphics, but the other factors easily make up for this one.
  22. So, I'm selling some things... * Mega Duck handheld game system + 18 games * Ecco the Dolphin and Sega Arcade Collection for Sega CD Thanks for looking.
