  1. Aaaand we have reached our pre-order quota. Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered, I think you're really going to dig the game.
  2. No. We don't do the whole "limited edition" thing; our goal is to produce & release enough copies of our games to meet demand. We don't have an air of eliteness, we just want people to play & enjoy our games and not leave anyone out (within reason). BTW: For anyone curious, after this run we'll have produced and shipped 1,000 copies [!] of Zaku. And we're damned proud of that. PenguiNet did a fantastic job developing the game, and we're glad it's had such a wide distribution (at least by Lynx numbers).
  3. Not to sound like a jerk, but I'm scratching my head right now. 1). I stated here, at least twice, I don't have free time to visit forums very often these days, and invited people to contact me via e-mail with questions. Was Jazzoff2000 the only one here who did?! Well Jazz on, my man. But seriously, I'm very receptive to your questions. E-mail me anytime at --> [email protected] <-- and I'll happily get back to you at my first opportunity. 2). Zaku will indeed be shipping this year, and, you know, pretty soon. Customers will receive an e-mail notice shortly before shipping begins, so anyone who may have moved since ordering can provide a new address if necessary. Since shipping our first game in 2006, we've never missed a promised release date. As Robert Lamm sang, "Keep the faith, don't look back." (Not his greatest tune by any means, but you get the idea.) Zaku's a fine game, if I do say so myself -- and I do! -- so you're sure to dig on it when you receive your copy. Waiting builds anticipation. (Yeah, yeah, I know. "Shut up and ship it already." Don't be mean.) 3). Good Deal Games made a confusing (aka unintentionally misleading) statement following the purchase of some of our remaining game stock. No one's bought our company out, nor will anyone do so. GDG bought some few remaining copies of our new stock, and that's that. (Again, no one ever e-mailed me about it to inquire. Speculation is the enemy! FIGHT IT.) 4). Lovely moon out tonite, wouldn't you agree? Thanks for your interest & support, everyone. Myself & our mascot Diskman both appreciate it.
  4. Hello, all. A while back I was finally able to acquire a like-new copy of Street Counter, the South Korean release of Super Fighter. It's super-de-duper rare and in fact I only ever saw evidence of one copy --> the one I eventually bought. Took quite some time as the first time I had a friend contact the owner, there was no response. Flash forward a few years later, I decided to try again, and this time the guy was receptive to selling. Miraculously all the 5¼" floppies worked perfectly so I was able to make a successful backup! W0w. It's based on the (also limited) English release from Australia, with a few changes. Notably, to make the USA fighter "Bullet" be from South Korea, and with a new name. Came with a Korean-language manual, albeit in black and white instead of the original color one, and new box art. After removing the copy protection I sent the game to the webmaster of DOS Games Archive. Just didn't have time to do a proper release @ superfighter.net yet. If you love DOS games, please download it and have a go on your DOS machine or in DOSBox... https://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/super-fighter/ ...or just download the attachment. (Note I own the legal rights to this game, so it's not "piracy." Enjoy it guilt-free.) Thanks for having a look. street_counter.zip
  5. We'll post news as we have it. All customers are signed up for our mailing list, that's the quickest way to get the latest info. Will ship this year as promised though, that's for certain. P.S. - Again, please contact me by e-mail with questions or comments as I don't visit the forum so often. [email protected] Thanks.
  6. Two things: 1). "Special thanks to Wiener Factory" <-- Wow. The actors got paid in hot dogs. 2). "That was a 64-bit kiss. Powerful, and good enough to last a long time." <-- In other words, he ain't gettin' any. Forget the Jaguar, I'll take the sex.
  7. In my notes here, I find two 8-bit games that actually ask if you have an accelerator: Tomahawk and Borrowed Time. I'm sure there are others.
  8. No. And... oh, great. My post from yesterday got stuck at the very bottom of the previous page. That sucks. Oh, well. I'll just quote myself so nobody misses it... Oh and by the way: If anyone has additional questions, please e-mail them to me. I don't get round the forums very often these days. Thanks!
  9. Super Fighter Team in da house, yo! 2018 was probably in your head from one of my previous posts here, or from our website: Pre-order, will ship in 2018 We're not waiting for 400 pre-orders, we're waiting for our production queue to clear. We'll manufacture & ship to pre-order customers regardless of whether we reach the "magic number" of 400 or not. So there's no worry there. Actually, there's no worry at all. Super Fighter Team always delivers on its promises, and has never in its 13 years [!] of operation ever missed a projected release date. So!! If you haven't pre-ordered Zaku yet, please consider it. This isn't speaking from a marketing standpoint, it's just a considerate [?] suggestion as we are unlikely to manufacture additional copies after this current run. If you don't buy the game, someone else will -- and better to beat them to the punch than miss out, right? http://www.zaku-lynx.com <-- dig it.
  10. I started out with an Apple IIc. It was my first... computer... ever. And what a computer! It came with all the hardware I needed to enjoy the full range of 8-bit software, from the humble beginnings all the way thru to double hi-res graphics. The IIc is the machine I'd recommend to anyone wanting to have their first go at the line. That said: years later when I was all growns up, I wanted more. And that's when it became interesting and exciting to start farting about with the Apple IIe and Apple IIgs: adding a Mockingboard sound card, a PC Transporter, hell even the ability to use CP/M for no reason. Why not? And as for the comment above mine: no blasphemy. Although I always prefer the real McCoy over a clone, the Laser 128 does have expansion port capabilities. So anyone wishing to have an "all-in-one" like the IIc but with some option to do even more, the Laser is a good option. Ah, the Apple II. What a great thing to be discussing on Christmas Day. Merry Christmas!
  11. Hi. We @ Super Fighter Team did something unorthodox for us back in 2013: developed + published an Android game [!!]. Originally a commercial affair at 99¢ a pop, we recently released it as a free download. W0w. So what's the game? (Hint: It's mentioned in the subject title you clicked on.) It's Commander Keen in Keen Dreams, adapted from the original for PC (DOS). If you have an Android device and like classic games, mayhaps this is for you. http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keendreams http://www.keendreams.com/ On another forum I took a moment to do a quick write-up on the game's development history, figured I'd copy & paste it here too in case people here also find it interesting. Hope y'all enjoy a little reading... We first agreed to develop the Android version as a favor to the previous IP holder. Super Fighter Team is a classic games firm, meaning we produce new games for classic consoles and computers. Doing mobile stuff -- aside from Super Fighter Block Battle for the Symbian OS that we'd done years before -- wasn't something we were interested in at the time. I didn't even own an Android device back then, I was using a Nokia N9 running MeeGo. When I finally decided to "give in" and produce the Android version, however, I admit I got a bit excited to have us embark on development for a new platform. Not wishing to jump ship on Nokia just yet -- even though just about everyone else in the world had already -- I refused to buy an Android device, instead opting to install the buggy and very unfinished NITdroid port as a dual-boot on my N9, to do my QC testing. (Our programmer had a full-fledged Android device.) And... surprise!! It turned out to be a fun project. We adapted the game from the original DOS source; there's no emulation involved anywhere. (As a purist, I'm not exactly big on emulation). The sound effects were recorded directly from the YM3812 chip of the Ad Lib sound card using special hardware called "adlib digisnap." The reason that some people seem to hear "things that aren't there" when playing the Android version is because the volume of the SFX had to be raised quite a bit. The original volume being fed to the YM3812 chip is very low. The card relies on the user to control the volume via the volume slider on the card or through powered speakers. If you play the original Keen Dreams on a DOS machine, and turn your volume WAAAAY UP, you'll hear those same "things" that some people pointed out. It's all in the original code/data, folks. It just isn't easy to notice. FM sound and music are quirky like that. I'm happy to boast that our version of Keen Dreams, unlike many many MANY apps floating around out there, has absolutely NO ADS, NO IN-APP PURCHASES nor any other GARBAGE that you don't want hindering your gaming enjoyment. We at Super Fighter Team don't believe in all that crap. We're not chislers. We just want to make good, high-quality, fun games and share them with people. The game was recently released for free after my push to make it so. I personally did not wish for it to be a commercial game in the first place, but since we didn't/don't own the IP, we didn't have final say in the matter. The game cost us a good chunk of change to develop and it never turned a profit... but see, we never cared about that. We were just happy to get a license to produce and publish the game. But as has been announced here already, the game is finally FREE now since we were finally able to convince the IP holder to let that happen. So please, visit Google Play or our website and download it to all your devices, share it with friends, enemies, strangers... heh, heh. If, in the future, we end up producing and publishing versions of Keen Dreams for classic machines, those will be physical products and thus we'll charge for them. But Keen Dreams for Android is a digital download. So... go download it with our compliments. Thanks! Keen_Dreams-Android.zip
  12. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. My favorite quote from the interviews is probably: "...they refused delivery! They didn't want to pay the $10 to have their development kit back."
  13. As did I. But if nothing else, there must be some interesting stories behind the development of the games, and et cetera. And in this case those stories would very likely be more interesting than the games themselves. Unfortunately the interviews that I conducted w/developers were nothing spectacular, but I only scratched the surface. I ever have the time again, I'd certainly like to go back and try eking out some more tales of the game.com.
  14. Since we're already discussing this in the wrong section anyway, I don't feel bad for inserting a shameless plug for my li'l game.com website... the end of the game.com P.S. -
  15. ...aaaaaaand they're sold. About time.
  16. Price reduced again, one last time. Zzz...

  18. I was looking for an Amstrad Mega PC, but have since acquired one. Thanks for looking.
  19. Maybe. But it's worth it, I think. Zaku is a damn fine game. <-- and I'm not just saying that because I'm the producer! PenguiNet did a fantastic job on it; I'm grateful to have been a part of the project, and seeing it through to the end was one thrilling ride. And also : how's everyone like the new website? Feedback of any kind still appreciated.
  20. Until we reach 400, as that's the max number of additional units we're going to produce.
  21. Sure, you're welcome. I'm glad you like the new site. Well, nothing's impossible. But only time will tell for sure.
  22. Thanks for sharing the news about our new website. Any and all feedback about the new design is appreciated. I'll pop 'round here as I have updates about Zaku. Thanks for your patience.
