  1. FWIW this is what Tim Worthington does on the 2600RGB mod and I'm able to use the HDRV SNES cable with it. If you ever decide to go that route I'd be happy to test one out. I have a RetroTink5X I can test on as well.
  2. It's how I have all my modded systems setup. I use a SNES style multiout connector so I can have composite, s-video and RGB output. I often switch between CRT and various flat panels and it makes for a flexible setup. I get that.
  3. I know there was some discussion, but I couldn't glean an actual answer. Does this new board work with HDRV cables?
  4. I've been lurking on this thread for 1000 pages.
  5. If you use Acrobat (and maybe other programs, not sure) it does a pretty good job of automatic OCR. I've had good luck even with stuff like old service manuals. CTRL+F and it digs through it for you.
  6. This is great. This will be a great resource for people working on the system. How annoying are the power flags in KiCad?
  7. I kind of hesitated responding to this, because there is a background story that's a bit rough, but I'm proud of it so here goes. Last year my cousin was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. He was under all kinds of debilitating treatments to prolong his life and some experimental stuff to perhaps save it. He was bedridden the entire time. He was a huge arcade fan back in the 80's. My dad, knowing I work in electronics and software, had the great idea to ask if I could hook him up with an arcade stick and maybe some emulation and games that he could play from his bed. This was the genesis of the arcade stick. Not being much of an adept at wood working my dad and I tackled the project together. It was really fun and rewarding. My cousin played it with his kids and they got to see all the old arcade games their dad played back in the day. We delivered the arcade stick to him in February. Unfortunately this was the last project I got to do with my dad. The day before Father's Day my dad found out he had pancreatic cancer that had already spread to his liver. My cousin passed shortly after in June and dad passed in late July. All I have are the pictures and memories, but I think we did a decent job on it. It played well when I tested it.
  8. I've always had pretty good luck with making offers. My simple rule is offering what I'm willing to pay. I mostly buy for resale, so to me it's a numbers game and I don't have time to haggle. I make an offer and it's either accepted or not and I move on. I never accept counter offers. There was an ebay console junk lot recently that had been up for a while that I thought was grossly over priced at ~$170 + $20+ shipping. It was good for me at $75, more than 50% under their list price. I made the offer, wrote I could pay immediately and they accepted in minutes. I wasn't being insulting and obviously it was good enough for them. So, again, my advice is just offer what it's worth to you. You'll either get it at that price or not.
  9. I got a bunch of carts on the cheap at a local thrift store. Unfortunately the previous owners decided to make their mark on every single one of them. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove the sticker without damaging the label? I usually use alcohol and various solvents to remove labels, but I've never had to remove a label on a label. Thanks much.
  10. That's funny. I was considering something just like that and asked a couple posts up what was floating around out there currently. I'll follow along.
  11. For loose carts I'd say that's on the higher end of collectors price. There's not much, if any, meat on that bone to resell.
