this is true with a lot of games, wouldn't be impossible that Pole Position suffers from bad initialization algos (gotta keep that high score) i've also compared taking big skids to lots of little adjustments trying to minimize speed loss, helped a little i've managed to shave about 2.5 seconds off my qualifying lap when I get it perfect (no braking on hairpin, little/no skidding on other curves) but I have no idea what kind of voodoo I'm going to have to learn to get to @zylon's level -- less than 54 seconds!! i'm obviously playing the game wrong

37,210 this game is an interesting port. I like the graphics upgrade, but otherwise is a pretty lazy upgrade from the 2600 version it’s good fun, but I am terrible at this version and prefer the VCS a little

Also had to think of Bounty Bob while playing this -- I don't mind learning level patterns to make it through, as long as the game is fun. Miner 2049er's levels are brutal until you figure them out, then they become relatively easy because the controls are so tight and you can start optimising your score as you improve. This game adds the challenge of mastering the controls, but I'm too much of a boomer to figure it out and wound up getting flustered

2,975 I've always heard a lot of good things about this game on the 8-bits, but I'll assume this conversion is crap. Couldn't make it past the second level without a profanity-laced bout of controller-abuse, so I'll stop here at least I got this psychedelic screenshot out of it

31,080 this is not a bad conversion, but I enjoy this more on the 800XL. Might be a case of controller conditioning, but it feels better to me than the 5200 setup.

Star Control! for the mighty Mega Genesis This game blew me away when I borrowed it back in the day from a friend I got so annoyed when Game Sack recently said Star Control never got a genesis port that I went on Ebay and bought it. Turned out to be in very good condition, a rarity for these cardboard-cased titles.
