  1. And just like that, Mitsumis went back to being the most popular keyboard. I always did like the black version with its quirky font.
  2. The sidecar is the fun bit, I'd like to pick one up at some point. Still, if I hadn't grabbed that ramdisk this week, I might be tempted.
  3. I'm just glad the battery hadn't leaked after all these years. That bomb has now safely been defused. Good luck with your search!
  4. It'll get used. This is going in an unmodded Geneve I am now finally able to start learning how to use. I've been waiting 20 years for the right combination of money, space, and time to actually get to play with my toys.
  5. This was the shift838 run
  6. It's the one on the left. From the batch in January last year. Oh, I get it, no the sockets themselves look like two sockets stuck together , so I was saying a pic wouldn't really help.
  7. It's the batch from last year, so presumably the MK1. I didn't take a picture, but I'd be happy to if it helps. It really just looks like two sockets stuck together.
  8. This seems to have worked! Thanks everybody for the suggestions.
  9. I mean, I have plenty of other consoles I could try. The question is, is this going to be a Cinderella-like effort to find the perfect fit? Or are most of them good enough, and I just got unlucky?
  10. Ok, that's not a bad idea ... and it would also seat all the pins in the main socket, not just the few that the F18A uses. I wonder if a DIP socket or two single rows would work better.
  11. I'm finally getting around to installing my F18A, but the slightest bit of torsion seems to pop it out of the socket. I've now dis- and re-assembled the thing four times. A quick search doesn't seem to show this is a persistent problem, but I thought I'd ask anyway: do I bother trying a different motherboard? Or do I need to go to the trouble of replacing the socket with a machined one?
  12. I may just go ahead and tear apart a speech synth. I've got three. I could use the chips for something else. A talking cosmac would be fun. As far as the cartridge slot, I guess having a copy of easy bug would be ideal for testing. Maybe I'll just put the grom in the console so I don't have to worry about it.
  13. Ugh. So basically cheaper and easier to pull apart a speech synth. For the record, this http://www.stuartconner.me.uk/ti/ti.htm#i2c_interface is the flavor of the nonsense I'm imagining. Nothing practical, just goofing around.
  14. Excellent! Ever consider a cartridge protoboard? I suppose I could cut traces on a double sided game and glue a breadboard on top, but it seems a shame to ruin yet another copy of TI invaders. How about the side port? What's the part # and distributor that's being used for the edge connector on, e.g., The TIpi?
  15. I'm interested in fooling around with a few hardware ideas. I know at one point a protoboard existed for the P-box, but it's listed as out of stock on arcadeshopper. Any chance there might be another run of this? Or a cartridge one?
