  1. There is a list of games that the real time save is not compatible on the N8, maybe about 20 or so games, not major but, one game I wanted to use it on was Mike Tyson's punch out, as when it starts to get harder, I wanted to save between rounds so I could start there....99% of the other games, it works fine (at least ones I play). It has a special chip or mapper in it that caused a problem with this feature. I like it, as I pull apart every NES game I have an manually clean it so my system works like the day when it was brand new but, using the N8 saves a lot of wear on these carts..
  2. This is not the same as Beanie Babies, not even close, your not comparing apples for apples here. They were over inflated by a limited release of some styles. There was still many thousands released of them. The company who made them inflated their value claiming very limited, when that meant thousands or more of them. Truth be told, there are some proto type or very, very limited release of Beanie Babies that are worth a lot of money. Look it up if you don't believe me. This is more like a #1 Super man comic book or White Border Honus Wagner baseball card (worth huge money). Most kids read it and treated it like crap. So a flawless mint one is worth HUGE money. This would be an a apples for apples comparison here. This is one of those holy grail type things for video games, a first release, that was EXTREAMLY limited that 99% of them were opened and used.. This is one is factory sealed. This is not going to change the over all video game market. Common games are going to be worth only so much. Rare ones will get a value that will claim a higher dollar if someone is willing to pay for. Keep in mind, the value of something is ONLY worth what other people are willing to pay for... But this is one very special collectable as video games go.
  3. It's like the Everdrive N8.... You cant save state Mike Tyson's punch out ? WTF ? Wish I knew that before I paid $68 for mine....
  4. A little history on why this sold for so much https://www.watagames.com/learn/blog/post/nes-black-box-variant-guide/ You saying that is something I don't get. When we talk about "collectable" items. We also have to talk about the ULTRA rare parts of collections. Just like how some comic books sold for far more than this. Or even baseball cards. There are stuff that is almost impossible to find as video games go, and only a small % of them were released, and MOST people (like you or I) would of opened it to play it. This is how it's so rare, not too many sealed copies are known to exist. We are getting into an age of video games where rare stuff will claim a higher dollar. These people picked this up as investment. As collectables go for this hobby, it's an holy grail and when they re-sell it, it will go for much more later...
  5. It's an investment. Just like you can get mutable investors in a business. For sure you will see this up for sale later. As classic video games are getting harder and harder to find, the really rare ones in flawless shape will go for some big money. This one just falls as a ultra rare one that not many are known to exist. It makes you think....all the games I paid for back in the day...if I just got 2 of each and kept one sealed...maybe one day it would be my retirement. This does show that people not in the know, should see video games are not just a toy...
  6. Like my mother back in the late 70's...My first Introduction to video games was with a Sears 2600 and my first 2 games (that I had for almost a year and played them almost every day) was Space Invaders and Air-Sea battle...both in Sears Tele games boxes....
  7. Agreed... A big draw for me is save states... I gut used to having a Retron 5 and real time save states was an EPIC thing. I picked up 2 devices so far, a Mega Drive x3 and a Everdrive N8 and love the feature....too bad it does not work on EVERY game... but, at $100, I would be all over this....$200 is just too much
  8. Oh, the days. I was around 13-14 back then, saving up money to go to the Arcade. In Rhode Island, there was DG's Arcade in Warwick, RI, it was fairly dark place but, always had TONS of games. It was normally 40-50% video games, 10-15% pinball and the rest of the place had pool tables. This would be the feel I expect in a arcade as this is what an video game arcade was to me. How it looked and felt..... It was very dark...The only real lighting was the marques off the arcade machines and Neon lights over head in some parts (unless you were in the pool table area), the sound in the distance was just arcade noises mixed in some games playing and others in demo mode. There was always 80's type top 40 music playing, another place always had hard rock playing (not very loud in most cases). Smoking was common in arcades in those days so there was always a slight cloud of smoke on a busy Friday or Saturday night. I personally own 5 arcade coin-op video games that sit in my home office... On a weekend, I put in a little music on my PC, shut off all the lights, turn all my arcade machines and just enjoy them for what they are and it gives me a feel like an Arcade was like back in the 80's... with out the smoking (thank god) Is that what your looking for ?
  9. Downloaded before Nintendo takes it down. Cant wait to try it..
  10. They might push a cheaper PS5 with no optical drive as an option(as think Microsoft will be offering one sooner than later) but, for sure they will have an optical drive option. After what Microsoft did at launch of the Xbox one (digital games only), and the market outrage, I don't think Sony would want to make that mistake or be involved with something that might portray that image. Backwards compatibility would be huge if they did that, after seeing how the market responded to how Microsoft is doing on the Xbox one... getting 360 games working, even some original Xbox games work and people are loving it. I think Sony will at least get PS4 games working but, it would be a HUGE thing if they could get PS1 forward games all working on a new Console but, I don't see that happening. Remember, Microsoft did this before. When the 360 first came out, a good chunk of original Xbox games played on the 360... although most of the games I played, were buggy and button layout was not great. 360 on the Xbox one is way better but, I have found some issues with games. Sony would lose too much money by making the really old games compatible….
  11. One that was not too long ago.... My nicest looking 2600 had this issue... I even put it on youtube to see if anyone knew... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHtqJYbxXsY I went on ebay found a 2600 A/V mod kit for $10. I installed it, it fixed the issue and I was shocked on how well my solder joints came out (watching way too much youtube), so I will be tackling a NESRGB kit next.... I'm fairly new at this soldering thing...but, know some people with some big tools that could help if I need it.
  12. My first exposure to Video games was Space Invaders and Air Sea battle for the Atari 2600 and I played it on a 19" black and white TV for years. We got it as a gift for Xmas that year with both games. I got so good at space invaders, that I could start at 9am and still be playing the same game at 10pm. I did that once but, never attempted it again. I remember having to pee really, really bad where I just gave up at 10pm ! One of the classic stories of early gaming was... On the way to Jr High, there was a diner, they had a Pac-man machine there. Not the standard US one but,it had 3 circles on the left and right side of the map. Anyway, every morning I stopped by there with 1 quarter. Till about a month went buy and I was 2 hours late for school because I got so good. LOL
  13. For someone who has been through this type of stuff before, I agree 100%... Get on the phone with ebay. calmly explain your issue, and have facts and proof ready to go. If you like shopping on ebay and using paypal, the last thing you want to do is dispute the charge on your Credit card unless it's the VERY LAST option. Paypal can give you a headache if you just dispute a charge with out notifying them. You have limited time too so move quickly.
  14. Well the W-Hydra 2 as 2 outputs as well, It is a 16:2 and can be expanded if needed (crazy). I will only be using RGB on it. My system is completely automated, one button does a bunch of stuff. I have a Pronto Pro(Philips TSU9800) that has a touch screen, it's setup with a home theater setup. My plan is to create pictures for each console, then put them on a menu, As the auto will work a lot of the time it can be overridden with the remote. I do that with current consoles (Xbox one X, PS4, 360 and WillU), as auto works 95% of the time, it can be ovewridden. Also every once in a while I want to pause a game and play another system, this would allow me to do this. So when I want to play a game, it will switch the AVR, the TV input, it will change the framemeister input and change the switch the console is plugged into. One button to do everything. Also, Other sources in this setup will use composite and S-video, no auto switching for those sources. I need them all in the menu.
  15. I never saw that anyone replied to this. After doing a TON of reading on this and looking over what each console can do and what they cant.. I think I am leaning towards the W-Hydra 2, I don't want a Auto switch like 99% of them are, I want something that can be automated and controlled via IR. It seems the W-Hydra 2 is one of the very few that can. They make an 8 and 16 version. After looking at tons of models, IR control is VERY rare for something 8 or more. The W-Hydra 2 16 port is about $265.. as the gscartsw v3.4. is about $220 for an 8 with no IR support. $45 more with double the inputs and more features ? Sold... So my setup will have 12 Svideo/Composite switcher and a 16port SCART switcher... I will be running them directly into a Framemeister…
  16. Will be so disappointed if it's just another Android device with games on it...… but, the truth is.. odds that is all it will be with an Atari logo on it...with some IPs...
  17. I still have my original SMS Phantasy Star game (paid $75-80 for it back then), but, I played on my Everdrive because a team re-translated the whole game from the Japanese version. Some parts of the game were a lot better than the original US version. The story is much stronger... If you like the game and thinking of re-playing it, try the re-translated version... http://www.smspower.org/Translations/PhantasyStar-SMS-EN
  18. Just finished up SMS Phantasy Star Re-retranslated version. Spent about 20 hours playing it. One of my all time favorite games so I really didn't want to rush it...(played on the Genesis Mega Everdrive via SCART into my Framemeister, almost pixel perfect on my 4k tv) What a wonderful experience
  19. My kids have iPads.... they play a lot of Roblox... Of course with a little other stuff added in, they have 3DS devices as well...
  20. No the RetroTink does not have any memory. Once powered off, it reverts to it's original state. I hit up the Dev of it on Twitter and asked him. was asking for memory and IR control, and the device offers none of that. He said maybe in the NEXT version. Every time you start it up, you need to hit the source button 1-2 times to get it to correctly show the input. It's what you get as it's a $100 scaler. The other options are $250-350, so no question it's an affordable option. My original concept was to get 3 of them. One for composite, one for Svideo and one for Component but, as you would need to switch them manually. I found the OSSC or the Framemeister (Mini-RGB) was a better option... I went with the Framemesiter due to it supporting S-video that some of my consoles will use... If your looking to get the BEST out of Sega systems, RGB is the best you can get... but, if your in the US, you do need one of the better devices to be able to use it...
  21. Agreed... Their system is so flawed. The ONLY thing you can do to protect yourself. when you list an auction, there is a "buyer requirements" and you can select anyone who has non-paying report in the last 6 months to not be able to bid on your auctions. I did get one for no reason of my own and I was worried for about 30 seconds... why even bother ? I even tried a few times to do a positive with feedback that says "(Negative Feedback) buyer does not pay or respond to requests for payment." and eBay will remove it. Never mind the fact... If you give me any problems on my auctions... Non paying, or major issues, like demanding a refund for something that was clearly no returns... I just add the buyer to my blocked list. They can never bid on any of my auctions again. There is about 40 people on my list but, I've been on ebay from 1997.....Wow, it's a long time now... Ebay can be a real pain in the a$$ to deal with...
  22. Saw the prototype a few years ago. No price was ever listed. $10K ? Dam, cool tho. Maybe if I win the lottery or something... Would love a single monitor that wide... (OLED would be possible)
  23. The whole concept of a curved TV was to reduce glare on the screen in rooms with a lot of light. I get some A/V installer mags and was reading a big story about them. Otherwise, they offer more than other TVs in that range. It also was a thing to have something DIFFERENT in TVs that might help boxes sell faster. As we know it didn't do as well as claimed.
  24. I was wondering so I checked it out... WHAT A UGLY console....
  25. I sell a lot of stuff on ebay… I HATE when that happens to my auctions.. Yea, a big price but, 95% of the time the buyer who bid it up crazy high never pays for it.. I end up needing to WAIT 4-5 days for eBay to get involved...then another 4-5 days for the buyer to respond (they never do). THEN I can FINALY get a credit for it. Then I get a chance to re-list it. Or I can just cancel the transaction but, I want to see the buyer get a "non-paying" bidder check on their account. You can go into settings and select no allow bidders who have even 1 unpaid auction... I bet the person who bided this one up to $800 they never paid for it.....
