  1. So a update to this thread. The Jag in question here, will be sold as a parts unit. I was able to grab my OLD consoles from my mothers house... Things I got.... SNES (yellowed BAD but works), A NES with Mike Tyson's punch out in the system (I ended up buying this game on ebay 3 weeks ago because I wanted to play again), A SNES Super wild card (a backup system for SNES), A Sega Saturn, a Panasonic 3DO, An Atari Jaguar w/10 carts, and my NeoGeo AES... When I pulled the Jag out of the box, it still had the Tempest 2000 cart in the drive with about 20 years of dust on the console. So dusted away, blew out the cart slot and turn her on.... She works perfect... So I now have a working Jaguar ! Funny thing, I actually have 3 Jag CD games, brand new sealed, I was planning on getting it at one point but never did... Now that they are $500+, unless I find one in a yard sale or snip an auction...I'll never have one. I'm not willing to pay that much for it... Don't ask, they are not for sale. I'll keep them sealed as a collectable.
  2. Anthony, As I said I would update you. So I finally picked them up today. Things I got.... SNES (yellowed BAD but works), A NES with Mike Tyson's punch out in the system (I ended up buying this game on ebay 3 weeks ago because I wanted to play again), A SNES Super wild card (a backup system for SNES), A Sega Saturn, a Panasonic 3DO, An Atari Jaguar w/10 carts, and my beloved NeoGeo AES... I started by dusting off the 20 years of dust, First to test was the Jaguar...worked flawless...Then on to my NeoGeo, and she worked perfect, I was playing Viewpoint for about a 1/2 hour with no issues. BOY I missed this system. So I got it back and she works perfect ! Is there a S-video cable available for this system ? Composite is such a joke for a system like this, it looks good but, could look so much better.
  3. Offer the seller to change feedback.....they can generate a link....then change it to a negitvive...
  4. I started playing Mario 3-D land again.... (started a new game about 2 weeks ago), it's kind of a swap between other games...and of course Mario Kart with my kids...
  5. I've never head of a Wii Drive failing, and I have dealt with a lot of them over the years. If yours failed, go to your local pawn shop... Normally they have a ton of them and will give like 3 for $50... Right now, it's a fairly cheap system to get, I bet it would cost more to fix it than replace it in most cases...
  6. The Retron 5 is not a lag fest, normally it's input lag on a TV... I noticed on mine, playing anything under 4K, it's noticeable(50ms). When I run it in 4K (Xbox one X), it is noticeable how much better it is (5ms).
  7. The original cart of SMB could be gotten for under $10 on eBay. I personally refused to pay $150+ for a NES Classic, and now that they are available, Every game I want to play on the NES, I have the original cart for so I don't see the point. I cant see the value in it if I have all the original stuff. I have gone though my 80 or so NES games (not sealed boxes), pulled them apart, and polished the connector so there is no problems using them. I have a Minty original NES, that I will only allow cleaned games in (works like a NES did in 85). I do tend to use the Retron 5 to play some of these games for the save states
  8. You can also get yourself a Retron 5. It plays the original games but, as it works as a form of emulation (it rips the game and you play it while in memory). It has the perks of Real time save and other features that you that you only see on Emulators... SO it's the best of both worlds.. It plays NES, SNES, Famicom, Sega Genesis and with an adapter can play master system games/cards. So, games like Mike Tyson's punch out, you can save between fights or even round 2 of a fight. No more codes to deal with The nice perk is it comes out over HDMI and looks EPIC compared to connecting a NES to a modern LCD... I scored a used/untested one on ebay for $41, it works perfect, best $41 I spent in classic gaming.
  9. Truth be told. Arcade Coin-op machines can be a real PIA. A lot of them are 20+ years old and deal with 20 year issues. I have 5 machines. Asteroids, Ms Pac-man, Atari system 1 (running Marble Madness with 2 other full kits), Crystal Castles and a Star Wars Cockpit. The Color vector monitor in the star wars has broken down 2 times (currently not working) they are known for failure and expensive to fix, the Crystal Castles has display issues(on the board, 2nd board same issue), the Ms. pac's monitor has died (replaced with a ok one). The System 1 has burn in from one of the past games. The Asteroids has a large HUM in it (due to a power supply issue) The guy in the video "the last gamer" that is what he does, he fixes and works on vending machines, Arcade games, so he can fix it. If your just a hobbyist with gaming and you want a coin op, just think about what is involved with them esp, if you don't have the funds to spend on repairs just to get a single machine running. and one of the WORST things about Coin-ops...if you need to move. Do you know how hard it is to get a coin-op up a flight of stairs ? Never mind a Star Wars cockpit ? I've moved 4 times from starting this collection... It can be a nightmare. I ended up paying someone to move them the last time. I think we will be here for a long time.
  10. Anthonny… If you know my story I have staid around here, I had a bunch of classic consoles that went MIA from my mothers house. I spent about 10 hours looking and was not able to find a single one....they were sitting there for over 20 years... Well I got a text today with this image.. Sitting backwards in this box looks like a NeoGeo AES with the original cables and power cord (and my original Atari Jaguar too) I should be getting them this weekend....You don't know how happy I actually am about this ! I replaced some of the consoles, so I will pick the best looking ones and the others will be going up for sale.
  11. Well, all is NOT lost.... I just found out, this was NOT my primary Jaguar from 20 years ago. It was an extra one that someone gave me about 20ish years ago. They had a problem so they didn't want to deal with it and just gave it to me. I bubble wrapped it (as I did with all my non used consoles), and it sat on a shelf in the basement... My mother sent me a text this morning, she found my old consoles and in that stack, there is a Jag... this one worked flawlessly as I owned it from brand new... I should be getting it this weekend...
  12. I've given up on this console. I've put in over 5 hours into trying to get this working and still is the same result It's going to be in my console parts, or be sold on eBay for a repair option for someone. I'm on the hunt for another one. Sigh... it's going to have to wait a bit as it's not in the budget and they are expensive now (I could buy a Xbox one S AND a PS4 for the cost of one complete Jaguar). Sigh...
  13. HI, Does anyone repo these or have a set that they want to sell ? I cant see paying a ton for thse but, my system does not have them. THanks !
  14. Anyway if anyone is interested, after some searching we ran in into this... https://console5.com/wiki/Arcadia_2001 And it clearly shows my symptoms Arcadia power LED lights up but unit otherwise appears dead Coils L4 and/or L5 may be open circuit. Remove and bypass coils with jumper wires. They seem intended to prevent EMF but mostly they just fail. We replaced the failed CAP and replaced the coils on L4 and L5 with some jumpers, she works again. A A/V mod would not have fixed this.
  15. Last week I grabbed... 1. SNES - great shape, 5 min with magic eraser and it looks brand new (shocked on how good it looks). 2/ Panasonic 3DO - with a bad Disc drive, I so happened to have a old mac that I was dumping with a CR-503K drive in it, direct swap works perfect now. 3. Sega Saturn - Untested device only with a game (just the disc), grabbed it for cheap, I had a controller...worked perfect... A bunch of systems were at my parents house in a box, My Mom didn't touch them but, they are gone. I am trying to replace my collection... Still a few to go... Sega CD system and NeoGeo but, it will get there..
  16. I don't think it's the cart slot.. It looks fairly clean and there is no bent pins. I think it's something else. I tried this trick, many different ways, no matter what I do, every game shows the red screen. I'm staring to wonder if i should just attempt to find another one....
  17. Well, I pulled the cover, it appears someone else has been here (I picked this up mid 90's for almost $10 with like 10 games, that I still have), there was no bottom shield and the metal of the top was all bent up... And there is cap blown and some IC are blown. I'll see if I can fix that before trying the A/V mod. The big cap on the board poppped, didn't leave a mess but, I'm sure it's not doing anything. I see no traces of bad solder joints, so it looks like it died, someone pulled it apart thinking they could fix it and saw blown caps and just put it back together. That is a good thing.
  18. I must of over paid of Contra. My copy was $35...When I got it brand new Still works and I am trying to hunt down the box, I do have the manual. I DID just buy Mike Tyson's punch out for the NES the other day (someone took my original one), I need to beat Tyson again...have not done it in 20 years...I only paid $15 tho.
  19. Oh, we are talking coin ops as well. That is different. Paid $400 for a very, very nice Ms. Pac-man arcade machine. I did only pay $140 for my Star Wars cockpit but, it was converted into a Hydra (still have the board) and it's cost me about $600 to get it up and running... Working on getting the THE ORGINAL 25" monitor working in it (I have it, just need a part repaied)... I have 5 arcade machines...
  20. Just remember. If you sell it, odds are you will never get another one. It's one of the reasons why I WONT sell it. I'll have to look into a AES flashcart. Thanks ! Phantasy Star (SMS) one of the top 5 favorite games of mine of all time. My original cart from release, I plugged it in the other day and it still had my save games from the 90's ! Talk about a long lasting battery. I even have the Tips from Sega. Back in the 90's if you called Sega for "game support" they would send you a printed walkthrough. I have these for a few Sega games... talk about rare. I wish I could find a repo label for it, one of the kids back in the 90s pealed off the label so it's a black cart
  21. As we are only up to $100 or so, I paid $225 for ViewPoint for the NeoGeo AES back in the 90's. Right now it's worth about $700-$800. I guess not a bad investment. They were discontinuing it at the time and I had to have it. Buying a Xbox One game for $60 and getting the season pass for another $60 is also not uncommon for me ($120)
  22. OK, I have tried everything. I have gone cap by cap, with a high grade maginfiying glass, Checked every one for signs of damage or leaks... Nothing. I tried cleaning the cart slot again. Still nothing. Tried to put slight pressure towards the front and back, no change. Tried 4 different carts all cleaned, no change. Does anyone know who fixes these ? As long as it's not too expensive, I'd be willing to ship it out to someone fix.
  23. Yea, I have controllers and RF adapter is all I have right now. (will need at least a S-video adapter for video as well) Very important and good to know. Thanks again !
  24. Thanks so much ! It makes me so excited to get a NeoGeo back ! It might be a few weeks but, I'll be getting one fairly soon and I'll contact him when I am ready. I'm in the process of fixing 3 other consoles, I need to finish those before moving on to another one
