TheCoolDave replied to TheCoolDave's topic in Odyssey 2 / Videopac
I spent some time tonight looking over ebay, it's really hard to tell, There are some but, some want big money, others appear to not be working, others with out controllers (that cost $40-50 for a set).. I'll see what I can find here. Thanks for the info, I cant find a smoking gun on the side of what model has them..it's hit or miss... -

Was there a US version released and what model/s have it ? Oh, DB9 like Atari and many other consoles... I almost miles of ext cords for them... Nice. I might have to hunt one down if it's not crazy money... The one I have works perfect but I'd rather not use for my project it with the controllers attached -
Was there a Odyssey 2 with removable controlers ?
TheCoolDave posted a topic in Odyssey 2 / Videopac
Hi, I've head a rumor but, never saw one... I wanted to use a Odyssey 2 in my cabinet when get started but, the controller wire length is just too small and with them attached I cant keep the shelf clean. So was there such a unit that had removable controllers with extensions available (if it's a standard plug, it can be created)? If your wondering about the cabinet project I am doing, this was the starting and my thread for it. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/284807-connecting-many-classic-consoles-to-modern-tv-revisited/ -
If anyone was following this, I still plan in doing this project. The family had some large expenses in the first few months of the year but, still planning to start on this and start my youtube channel when i start building it... and trying to get some final consoles I want to use in this. I will use this thread for people's thoughts of the 20 consoles i will setup... Sub if you want to see it when I get started it will show up on you feed.. I don't have 100 subs yet so i need them before i can start doing it... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_gndYQHVBW9i_WxlCUb2Pw

WTB: Fairchild Channel F system - FOUND ONE ! THX
TheCoolDave replied to TheCoolDave's topic in Wanted
It's something I kind of thought about. We are talking mid late 1970's tech. Very basic stuff comparted to anything in the last 20 years. I modded my 2600 for A/V out and the solder points where so big, it would be even hard for a Noob to screw it up, as an example of the tech from that time frame. The tech was not super advanced back then, so most of these things should be fairly easy to fix if you can find the parts. It's why the controller thing I don't think is big deal but, the cosmetic thing is a huge deal to me. I still plan in setting up a cabinet with 20 classic consoles all wired it in and this is one I want to include in this. My thread on what I plan in doing if your interested... Still getting stuff together with life and a family so it's taking longer than expected... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/284807-connecting-many-classic-consoles-to-modern-tv-revisited/ Still looking for leads on a fairly nice Model 2 working or not -
WTB: Fairchild Channel F system - FOUND ONE ! THX

I saw that you sold it, and I saw that you broke it up to different auctions... You would make more that way anyway, I think you got $130 for your console with a few games... Someone got a good deal and you sold other games too at good money. Awesome. I really want a model 2 because the audio is not in the console (can a model 1 be modded ?)... I would of jumped on your model 2 but, it had what looked like burns on the right side of it and the controller was broken. The controller I would of worked thought with but, the burns on the top of it, nothing I could of done about that one. I need a console that looks very good, a few scratches no big deal but, nothing big in damage wise. I have a case of OCD and it would drive me nuts ! Thanks for the idea on the replacement cases you have... It's somethng I will keep in mind if I go that way... I need to find one of these... -

Any leads for one ? I really like the look of the model 2.. Just cant see paying $200+ for one of these... I did find one that I could of grabbed for $75 with 3 games but, I could not get to him that day and he sold it... If I knew what people were trying to get for these, I would of left work and drove an hour and 45 min to get that console for $75.... -
Why do people actively hate "pre-NES" consoles?
TheCoolDave replied to zetastrike's topic in Classic Console Discussion
100ms ? Dam... Crap, when I went from an Analog 65" RPTV (2 feet thick) to a 65" 4K... I noticed I got really bad at some games, esp COD mutli-player... To find out, my LG TV with tons of gaming features (reason I got it, like others) at 1080p is like 55ms... but, when I got my Xbox one X.. I got a little better... because at 4K, my TV gets about 28ms lag. STILL too much to play some games, many of the classics can be almost un-playable because of the lag (it's worse at 480p)... and my Retron 5 appears to be a lag fest (too bad too, games look pretty good on it) I'm trying to figure this one out... as lag is my bane of my existence... and in modern TVs, there is always some and it's something Analog TVs never dealt with... There is also the fact that my wife will not let me blow another $2500 on a TV that I picked up about 4 years ago and STILL works fine(dam you LG). I guess all I can do is have everything scaled up to 4K to get the lowest lag on any gaming content. The 2019 LG OLED models are claiming they have a LOW-LAG mode for gaming(and a big drop in price but, still fairly expensive)... what that means is yet to be seen(lag specs) but, maybe, FINALLY OEMs are noticing the problem with games and TRYING to do something with it. It's about dam time. Maybe in 2-3 years it might be time to get a new TV... and where us gamers can play a game with out thinking about how much better we could game on a analog tv.... -

Channel f loads of stuff, all sold
TheCoolDave replied to masschamber's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Ah, thanks for the pictures, its the system I want but, the shape of it is not what I need.... Thanks again for showing... The quest goes on.. Edit: He listed it here, then right to ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/fairchild-channel-f-2-console-tested-working-with-controllers-6-games/163619905465?epid=112169637&hash=item2618819fb9:g:VSwAAOSwM4RcnCtm&frcectupt=true It's too bad it has those deep scratches on the cover... -
Do you actually need one ? You just need an adapter to connect to the COAX input on a lot of TVs.... Then connect to your COAX connector on your TV and put it on Channel 3 or 4... If you want something like RCA, HDMI so you can go right into a video input, most older systems (pre-NES) do not support it, so the only way is to modify it (solder a board into the system and put outputs on the back). To release a switch box....You just need something like...

Hey all, I lost out on one, someone said they would sell me one with a few games and I just could not meet him today. Well he sold it on me (jerk !) Anyway, I kind of always wanted to check one out and it's a system I have never had. Not looking to spend ebay prices. I do want a system with a few games if possible. I also have a good collection of dup consoles that I might be willing trade one for the right deal. Feel free to PM me with what you have and what your looking for... Thanks !

Interested in the Optic-pac (2 player board for PC). It's the serial one (they only offer USB ones now), do you still have drivers for it or know where I can get them ? If yes, I want it...

A New Sony Handheld Console Could Be in the Works
TheCoolDave replied to 0078265317's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Agreed, and there was some great games for the systems but, after a while they seemed to die off... 5 games for the main console and one for the portable. It got old. If you had a 3DS, you got tons of options and there was always new games. The PSP and Vita were awesome systems, just wish it had better support... -
Any good screen LAG tests for modern consoles ?
TheCoolDave replied to TheCoolDave's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I get the concept but, not sure that is going to help too much. As I only have one 65" tv and other screens will be smaller or different brand. I do have a Home theater PC connected for DVR/movies/streaming services based off Windows 7, I will have to search for a website that can do this. If I find something, I can run it at full screen in 4k, Drop the desktop down to 1080p, try again, drop to 720p, try again and so on.... -
I wanted to bump this along. I am looking for a master system empty case. My favorate game has no box and as it's expensive now, I wanted to reprint a case label so I can put on my shelf with other boxed games...

Just bought unknown gaming machine.
TheCoolDave replied to utri007's topic in Classic Console Discussion
What was the site ? Have you ever heard of "way back machine " ? http://archive.org/web/web.php This site rocks if your trying to find older info or a site that has been down for YEARS or even a few months. It takes a full snapshot of websites and has been doing it for a LONG time. This is one my favorite sites when I am looking up info on retro sites/products... -
I'd really have to think about this one... When I was a kid/teen... money was limited so buying a game was a very important thing as It's something I would be playing a lot for a while. There was no internet, so it was by friend reviews, magazine reviews (if I could find one for 1/2 the games), or the back of the box. There was a bunch of games that were horrible that I still played through just because I could not afford another game and bugging mom/dad was a big hassle....

Sports games... worth collecting ?
TheCoolDave replied to TheCoolDave's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm a huge Tyson's punch out fan and Love racing games but I know there are some titles that are epic that are sports games...like Ice Hockey or RBI Baseball for the NES, etc These really good games are acceptations as normally if you walk into a donation store (goodwill, etc), you wont find these hit titles. You find the so, so popular games from 4-5 years ago that there is a new one every year on. I find it interesting, I see these all the time in the stores for $2-4 for PlayStation 1/2, Wii, Xbox but, no one buys them... I hit a store once a week... And saw some fairly good titles (that I already have and not high value ones), the good tiles are always gone...the older sports games... nope..still there... just like the Wii-fit games....tons of them... I was thinking if they were on sale (they run 50% off some days) to grab them all for "fillers" if they are complete and in good shape but, the other side says...Odds are I will never play them. My collection does not have a billion games but, the games I played or wanted to play at one point... so normally these fillers I don't really go for.... It's why I was asking on people's views here...because they are sooo cheap... -
Hey all, Just wonderrting what fellow collectors are doing about older sports titles. Always seems when I got to these donation stores there is always assortted Wii, PS1/2 even Xbox of sport titles. I'll never really play them, as I rarely play newer ones but, some times I do, just to check how they progressed. I normally just skip over these, as even on ebay seeing sports titles dont really have a lot of value in the selections for each console. As a collector, do you collect sports titles even if your not going play them ? Just wondering other people's thoughts on this subject...

Unreleased DICE Sega Genesis/Mega drive game HARDCORE
TheCoolDave replied to TheCoolDave's topic in Sega Genesis
I hope a rom is released for this game. I could always dump it on my Megadrive and play it that way... Any one find a rom for it ? Yes, I know there is no discussion of roms on this site but, this is a unreleased, unfinished and canceled game... maybe this falls different ? Yes, I would love to play it via rom or a cart really want to play it on the original system... Makes me really wonder why it was never released/finished. These types of games were very popular back in those days and odds are it would of done fairly well.
