Something just hit me, even if this actually ends up in stores, there can be no demos because of the plague. The only way they can demo the units is to hire kids like they do for Nintendo products, then they would have to wipe down the controller after each use & make sure people stay 6" apart, so no crowds. Also since Atari has a policy of not paying people (Allegedly) these young people will get stiffed in the end. The only upside to this is that since the Amico can use any smartphone as a controller, they CAN demo the units as long as people can download the App via wifi or cellular data. Perhaps Amico can make custom demo software that will auto connect to phones after a 3 minute demo is over, this way everyone in the line can try. And I honestly do not see this happening because stores are trying to AVOID anything that might create a situation where crowds will amass. My local grocery store use to have 1 or 2 day No Tax sales, now it has changed to ALL WEEK!, they do not want to have people rush in on 2 days. Hmm, who wants to pre-order from Walmart? Ships in 165 days (NOV 27) in store by December 3rd. ---------------------------------------------- The Atari VCS Carbon Gold 800 - All In package includes the Walmart exclusive Carbon Gold colorway, as well as the Classic Joystick and Modern Controller. ^ It has become more of a "When" than an "IF" OH dear... talk about not having any confidence. So it has become more.. IF we don't have enough money to go forward THEN GOTO Crowdfunding and beg for more money. Otherwise END. The system is GREAT! and we are all having tons of fun playing them. Just take our word for it, because there is no way we can use the internet to show you a video. These are just maintenance reply posts. Atari already has the money and are clear to call it quits any time. If they are having difficulties producing 500 units, then the other 12,000 ain't coming this year. (edit to add -allegedly- so Atari cant blame us for thier alleged massive failures) (ALLEGEDLY)

I don't know what is more deranged, Atari releasing a cobbled togetther system from yester year, or Atari banking on a never used before streaming service to supply all content on the system. Atari be like "I'm going to start a streaming service for all games" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Google "Hold my Doodle" I would just like to know, with all the information out there about this cluster Fudge of a project, WHO!? is joining in at this stage and ordering a console in the second preorder campaign?

These guys must have been politicians at some point... "Weeks! not Months, Seconds not Days, Minutes not Hours, Cents not Dollars, Turkeys for None! a Chicken in every Pot, Beyond Impossble Burgers for the rest! Bomb not Biggity! On a side note, since Atari is not responding to court proceedings about the Tin-Giant lawsuit, can the courts seize goods from Atari when they actually start to ship? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4D0mgx2JEM

^^ Haha! When they get the inevitable "It is with great regret.." email it will be FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUJI!!!!!

^Atari, the type of company to tell the customers to be optimistic after 3 years. I wonder if the backers will be getting a year of free subscription after this long arduous wait. The way I see it, they have to support this thing fro at least a year because of legal warranty, some countries it is 2, to discourage E-waste. But it does not mean they have to support the online portion of it, that is why they are repeating "SANDBOX MODE". This is going to be something if all the games it has are the same games available on the $20-$50 flashbacks. Imagine in the future someone buying the molds for this and trying to make another game system out of it?

^ Just need to draw yourself the Atari Fiji logo on some paper, then stick it over the LED on your desktop computer and bam! Atari console in Sandbox mode. To be honest, most computers these days could be turned into the Atacobox, just sell the controllers, free download and this will be free subscription revenue for Atari without having to sell the loss leading console. All Atari has to do is list all the AAA devs lined up to make games! I do not see why I need to; A-wait for the system to come out B-wait for it to ship C-upgrade the ram D-install windows E-hook up to my TV F-throw in box and never play again These things are already done, how about A-buy atari controller* B-install Atari software and pay $10 for subscription C-throw in box and never play again *I think you could even skip A in a basic setup.

I bet it would go a little sumthin' like this; ♫♪♪ Ring-a-ding-ding ♫♪♪ Factory: Hi Hi, Atari: Hi Factory, please hold for MR. Cheesehead, his high honor of Atari........ This is Mr. Cheesehead, I own Atari, I need 500 of these, and if you are lucky, I might buy another 10,000 you dig? Make it happen, I have 3 million, big money. Factory : Ok sir we take your money :) we make it. -------- 5 minutes later------------ ♫♪♪ Ring-a-ding-ding ♫♪♪ Apple: Hello, Factory I am calling from Apple INC Factory: (: D $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Apple: we need about 10 million units of this component this month, and future order of 100 million, are you able to scale to produce? Factory: (: D,,,,,,,,,, Yes, we tell cheeseguy to get lost, you Numba 1 customer now! Apple: Excellent.. wait what was that about Cheese?

Everyone above me has very good points... This is exactly what happened to Mike Kennedy, he had a chance, but then kicked out the only person that could build the thing. The Coleco Chameleon debacle started off as a bad joke, the Atari Jaguar shell, then Mike had no clue what he was doing so it snowballed into a big mess, lies after lies after fake prototype. The exact thing is hapening here, delays after delays after delays. The difference here is that the hardware is just a generic PC, the REAL work is the software, aaaaand there is none to speak of. "What about that Call of Duty Demo "with added RAM and storage" than ran like a slideshow on ultra low details ..." Hey, what about "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties" that was a slideshow game and it did well... xD

Futurefon Dragonfly Sentence hearing was only 2 days away (June 11) now it isdelayed yet again until October 28th. Dang, and I really wanted to see this guy get the chair |_, :D Another Indiegogo scammer goes free, for now. I will trade 1000 Tacos just to see the Atari team in shackles loaded into the paddy wagon. They will one day pay for thier hubris...
-
Many possible reasons. take your pick 1- They have no intention of backing this console, they just want to make Atari look like a good purchase 2- They just want it to solidify future infringement lawsuits 3- They have absolutely no devs to make games 4- Ran out of funds to produce more than 500 units 5- Douchebaggery 6- software is not finished 7- backend is not finished (they plan to have a subscriptions service) 8- They suck 9- They know once it is released everyone will find out it is a POS dead console in youtube reviews. 10- Nintendo Power 11- Sega Does what Atari Don't 12- Coleco Chameleon? 13- Software rips off elements of other game systems / scared of lawsuits a headin' thier ways 14- Lack of Tacos 15- Forgot to order 10,000 Dessicant packs to put into the packaging box 16- Bad Moon Rising 17 -No controllers to ship 18- Drunk 19- Waiting for the 2021 Holiday season... 20- Waiting for the device componets to age so they can get a discount.

^^ I second this, Goochman, this might just well be the thread that marks the death of Atari... again. It will be only fitting for Goochman to utter the final post in this thread; "ATARI IS DEAD! LONG LIVE TACOS!!!!"

Yup, begging for more money smells of buffoonery, probably the cost of production is up%50, increased shipping costs and what not. 500 units is all they can make with cash on hand, and no way is Cheesehead going to invest any of his money into a failed indevor. This is like the Hindenburg, basically a dumpster fire up in the air, waiting to be run into the ground like the Enterprise A,B,C and bloody D. This is why Amatuers should never get into the electronics business, stick to lawsuits and T-shirts Atari. Not showing up to a summons? why bother anyway, they probably don't have the cash to pay for representation. Atari's behavior speaks volumes about who they are at the core, Snivelling little Cowards in suits. (Allegedly)
-
^ Probably, knowing Atari's history of not paying Tin Giant they probably cut corners and this thing might be an electrical hazzard xD I guess this is what IndieGOGO calls a stretch goal, Fred Chesthair is stretching this out until 2021.

If they do indeed find a Vaccine before the Atari VCS ships that will be the most pathetic thing I will ever see, nothing can top this. I really hope they find the Vaccine now. Atari shoud just come clean and just ship all the backers a console-ation gift like a micro Atari flashback, comes complete with 1" mini TV, just get the company that is making the Sega Game Gear micro to do it. Just need to dump the roms and change the case. Aim is the end of the year, meaning 2021, Freddy has already ruined Xmas 2020 for these backers. What an arse clown.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0EK2TOZyHg Pat and Ian discuss the Atari RasPie kit, and call Fred out and label Atari as a W**** Skip to 5:30 for the insult.

IndieGoGo seems like a place for organized crime to wash money, or start crime. As long as they get %5 cut they could care less what happens. (*ALLEGEDLY*)

If only 500 units are ever produced, that means each console cost $6,000 to make. That sounds about right for an inept group of incompetent boobs. Will this be the next Atari "Air Raid" collectable? This is why I don't trust anyone. Someone offers me food, I assume it has been peed on. Someone wants to sell me a demo car for cheap? Already accidented 3 times. Beautiful woman approaches me? Gold digger that has mistaken me for a lottery winner. After this burn I expect all the backers to become just as cynical as I, next console crowdfund show up in E_mail? (((TRIGGERED!!!)))

I guess I better issue an apolgy, Atari and backers, I am sorry I questioned the legitimacy of this project and speculated it would never come to market. I was wrong, clearly this has been released but no one bothered to check the Walmart page. As this has already gotten glowing reviews; _______________________________________________________________ Average Rating: ***** (5.0) out of 5 stars Haters will hate I am glad to see that atari is coming back with a new console. Atari made a big impact on a alot of childhoods. I have seen a lot of hate towards this new system, but I am not letting that change my opinion of the system. I hope that this will lead into more systems being made by Atari. _______________________________________________________________ Average Rating: ***** (5.0) out of 5 stars Atari is Back Baby! This game system is absolutely incredible. The UI is stunning, simple, smooth and very easy to navigate. I played a few of the Atari pre loaded games as well as played around in the sandbox playing Steam games. They are fun, simple, back to basics games that everyone can play! The controllers are very comfortable to hold and built with quality. The Atari engineers really knocked it out of the park and I think this machine will surprise a lot of people and prove a lot of the haters wrong! _________________________________________________________________ Average Rating: ***** (5.0) out of 5 stars Atari my love what a pleasure to be able to replay the games of my childhood I really hate, the console is less expensive than the competition

Anyone ever remember that guy who scammed IndieGOGO and got convicted? Jeffrey Batio, he made all these fake renders for vaporware, some sort of Laptop that turns into a cellphone, tablet kitchen sink, Taco maker... Dragonfly Futurefon. Now he is desperately trying to drag out his sentence hearing because of the global health crisis. He was found guilty on fraud and wire fraud charges because he spent the money on stuff not relating to the project. I am sure an Audit of Atari Indiegogo fund spending will not reveal any, shall I say misappropriating of funds (Allegedly) All I am saying is that if this "console" was just a ruse to sell Atari by increasing share value then maybe they can be sent to prison for fraud? I still have not heard of any game devellopers for the system, seems kinda odd not to have anyone lined up so late in the game, just before release of the system

This entire amateur hobby revival should have been called OFF from the get-go. As soon as anyone saw it was IndieGOGO and not KickStarter everyone should have been turned off from giving any money. There is a reason why KickStarter demands some form of working prototype. How hard would have it been to knock out a cheapo mini PC and shove it into a Custom 3D printed case for Kickstarter? This is what happens when a mass of people have no self respect and hand over questionable sums of money. People complain about the %1 having all the wealth but they have no sense of self responsibility to spend their money. During this global health crisis I am sure if Apple had not closed thier doors people would still line up to buy the newest and greatest products even though the one they just bought 6 months ago is perfectly fine. Don't give your money away without asking questions or reading the fine print. Dont buy crap, and if you must buy crap do what I do and wait until it is %75 Off. Or maybe I am looking at this the wrong way, perhaps it is the backers who deserve the "backlash" and not Atari, They saw an oppertunity to fleece people willing to give away their money legally, and they took it!, Just like how SubWay made Billions from people who would rather spend $10 instead of making thier own sanwiches at home, not to mention all those people that pay $5, wait 20 minutes in line for a morning coffee when they could have made it at home for $1 in 60 seconds with a Pod machine and put it into the same fancy paper cups sourced from the Dollar store. I can see where Atari is coming from, it is easy to rip people off when you have no respect for them. The only purpose of this turd is to allow Atari to proliferate thier trademark lawsuits to rake in cash. Sandbox mode. (Allegedly)

^ i have a bad feeling 500 will be the only units ever produced. Not only that but none of these units will end up in the hands of reviewers, backers or even devs. Perhaps one of these will be found in a bin 20 years from now like the Nintendo Playstation

"Conuladh claimed Atari had reneged on a deal to give him a four per cent cut of crowdfunding revenues over $200,000," This to me seems a bit dodgy and skeezy, how can you ask for a percentage of money that is donated to fund a project? This seems like a charrity dipping its hand into the pot. The money belongs to the crowd-funded project and here he is asking for a cut? He should be paid as a consultant not get a cut of the money that is coming from people! WTF is this? and how can I get in on this action o.o-3$ I want free money! Con-U-lad-h (Feargal Mac) should have sold the idea for a fixed amount then get royalty on units sold AFTER it has been made and is out on the market, meaning this Piece of sheet would actually exists to pay out. MY problem is that he demands money for something that does NOT exist. I generally call this theft. Not one person has gotten a unit and he is to get paid for? they idea? he is collecting money on an idea that has no prototype? This crowdfunding this is great! a guy like me can clean up, I got an idea, how about a flying car, like the Delorean in BTTF, ok, crowdfund on Indiegogo, collect the cash and give me %4 of all funds collected for coming up with the idea. So to simplify this, Mr. CON-U gets to take money from crowdfunders because Atari made a deal to share the cash that they collected on some back-room deal for a product that was just a render of a box. The money that was pledged towards bringing this product to market was being shared up before they even got to work on this turd, no wonder this has been a massive dissapoinment 3 years on. (ALLEGEDLY)

With all the looting, by time this comes to market there won't BE a market, or brick & mortar stores to buy them at, just bricks. I am sure if these were in stores right now, on the news footage you would see stores looted and nothing left on the shelf except Atari VCS boxes, they would take the empty shelf fixtures and leave the VCS boxes behind :D These crackheads think that investors are going to take a sheet-load of money and invest it into a defunct name from the past in hopes of revitalizing a gaming system for people that are in thier 40's now. That must be some potent crack. Economies all over the world are on the fringe of destruction, OH! I know, we need more Atari! Blackberry can't even get someone in China to make a phone anymore, and THEY had a loyal fanbase of crackberry heads, and Atari thinks they are going to make waves in a sea of Android, iOS, Nintendo, Playtation and Xbox. Delusions of Grandeur I think not, more like they got thier hands on the reality infinity stone and really are living in a dream. This is going to be a collector item and nothing more, so if you want to make some cash, keep it sealed, away from UV light. (Allegedly)

Does Atari even have an Advertising budget set aside for this novelty or is it going to be a social media, leave flyers taped on poles, word of mouth sorta thing? And if so should they not be talking it up on Social Media that something BIG is coming? something to dethrone the incumbent trifecta tyrants of the videogame industry? A new Console that does not tout expanded library (or ANY library for that matter), gameplay or superior graphics but is based on the Holism of a device of Retro!? Atari should play the underdog here... because we all know they are a bunch of B*****s! ^ Backers? Ballers? haha you will never know ^ (Allegedly)
