Since we know this dumpster fire of a console will never fly, due to the fact that NO ONE is going to develop games for it, the intent to deceive is there. This is pre-meditated deception for fullfillment of prior "investors" so that the image of a vibrant new eco-system of a console & stock value of Atari will go up. the only problem is that the original investors are actually NOT investors since they gave up that money for free. The deception is to lure in NEW buyers based on high fanboyism when they get the console from the money that new orders will fund. Somewhere down the line whent the fresh money stops flowing in it will all come crashing down unless someone BUYS the company. That is the scam (*ALLEGEDLY*)

Atari playing the "we can't make teh systems because of the plague" This console should have been made loooong time ago ready to ship, but due to your shinnanigans you have nothing to show. Meanwhile Apple somehow is just released a budget iPhone that brought back the Home button with Finger ID at a time when Face ID has gone down the drain because of mandatory face masks. It is like they knew something.. like stay away from folding phone tech and go low-tech again So with a limited budget, if someone had a choice, would they pick an iPhone SE2 that can play games and everything else, or a console that has NO games and for all intents does not exist as of now, other that a few pictures in a factory and hotel. If Atari is this cheap, imagine the experience staying in an Atari Hotel room! You go to enjoy a deep sleep after a day of travelling, you pull the covers over your head, only to be greeted by a foul smell, then you realise that they did not change the sheets, brown runny stains on the bottom side of the matress, pee in the shower, rotting Taco in the mini fridge, used soap still in the dish! ^ Nah, I am currently stuck in home where i live (Canada) they are even blocking the roads to go to the next province (not to mention talk of closing booze stores), but i feel better than anyone holding any substantial amounts of Atari stock right now. I dont know how this situation is going to affect the Intellivision Amico, Atari VCS and the Coleco Chameleon. People could have used these game systems now in lockdown, instead they are getting aqainted with iPads and Android Tablets that they probably already own but threw down into the corner, not to mention some of these new console games are already the same ports of games on those platforms (mobile games).... there are plenty of Escape games(pun intended) , puzzle games, unofficial retro remakes. Atari is like an older woman turning 40, desperate hanging out at the bar hoping that some dude will take her home and knock her up, except she is too ugly even for alcohol to make a difference. This pet project just screams "please buy me, somebody please buy me!"

^ Speaking of "surface Gloss" I thought this thing was going to be a matte finish, not that glossy plastic they built the first 500 "proof units" I have a glossy cheap console here, it was sold as the "INTERACT" kinda like a cheap Xavix, glossy plastic makes it look cheap, and the amount of scratches that show up are numerous. Atari update talks about all those "defects" well if they had matte plastic i bet most of those would not be noticeable. Also I have a suspicion that those defects are not because of poor manufacturing, but plainly poor design, even the iPhone 3G plastic was cracking. Why Atari thinks that getting the first 500 units to devs is going to help them is pure unadulterated cool-aid. Anyone that gets this is going to youtube with a review. I do not see how Atari can force a NDA on anyone now, they paid for the product it was not supplied a a evaluation unit. And this is the thing that gets me, why not let people choose if they want matte or glossy? To me it appears that glossy is less labour intensive, so why not just throw those out?

Oh dear, people who align themselves with Atari now are completely deluded about the brand's ability to generate any amounts of money at a time like this. Hotels are closing, investors are not investing, people are clutching on to savings. Atari could not be in a worse market situation. Atari is trying to peddle a product and brand that no one cares about. I see nothing but a large burning fire when this is released, then anyone that was interested in "partnering" with Atari will be trying to distance themselves as far as possible. So anyone actually buying this is going to buy the fully loaded version, almost $400 in the garbage, oh and I like this "Made in USA." Release Date: 12/31/2020 well that's great, just in time for the January boxingday liquidation sales and in no way missing the holliday shopping season. Atari is just buying time to get in more pre-orders because when this hits the shelves, i expect many many youtube reviews to be filled with very over the top vile reviews, not to mention full teardowns exposing cheap components (future allegedly)

Atari is DONE! After this is all over, the WORLD will be looking to rebuild the economy and what not, I highly doubt ANYONE will give a Rat's ( ! ) about a retro console that costs more than it should, delivered later than is should, does absolutely nothing that is should have, would have, could have. Sure the VCS team can blame the failure on the crisis but this was on track to that destination anyway. With all the local stores with barren shelves in the strategic sections ie: cleaning supplies, pharmacy goods, canned foods stuffs and frozen veggies, I would like to remind people to stock up on Taco kits.
