  1. I am expecting another update in the factory making the Atari VCS. CheeseGuy has decided not to pay China taxes, so he moved production across the globe.
Unfortunately it is not looking to good for the backers :(

  2. ^^ pack in a 99c wrist band, tell them to ground themselves by shoving it into the third hole in the wall outlet, that should go over well :)

Anyway I doubt people wear a ground strap when they upgrade a laptop or desktop, I do because I am cheap and I do not want to fry or zing anything, also because I used to get free ones from work xD
Also I remember Atari telling people that they can indeed upgrade from 4GB to 8GB in that last Medium update post.

"As we’ve always said, the Atari VCS is not like other game systems. It’s meant to be your machine, with numerous capabilities that allow for customization and personalization of both the hardware and software....
    .....
Not visible here are the twin SODIMM DDR4 4GB RAM sticks (8GB total) on the board’s belly, which can be upgraded."

  3. 3 more days and it is 2020!, let us see if we can get to page 2020 by then xD

Anyhoo perhaps Atari could reduce costs, all they would have to do is sell the device like Ikea does furniture, with the "some assembly required" method.
Just ship the computer, no Ram, since everyone is going to upgrade anyway, and include all the decals and woordrain stickers in the box. This way you save a bundle on assembly costs. When the system boots up it will download the entire OS, why bother wasting time in the factory, just put a small image on it, why should Atari have to install the software on a console, because people payed you to do it? Ha! you silly man!
It was all about the Sandbox mode, they knew what this was.
Now let us talk games, You get 1 game, PONG, this is used to test out the hardware and controller, that is it you are now on your own, if Antstream does not deliver then tuff tortillas. This is the New Atari and we play hardball sukkaaaz!

Atari is Dead!, Long Live Atari!

  4. ^^^ Dang Namit! I missed out on the Bestbuy boxing day sales, the Atari Flashback Vol.1 Blast! Micro-Console was $7.99, now I will have to pay the regular high everyday price of $9.99, deal is off. They also have a $30 PacMan +300 retro games handheld console ($40 for 400 games), freakin' 10 cents a game, they have to be reaaaly crappy, because I cannot see them getting any liscence to good games for that price. Must be Action 52 quality. I once bought a console for $2.96 from The Source (AKA Radio Shack) freakin intec piece of crap, looks like what the Atari VCS is going to look like, I kid Ye not!
The only reason I would see anyone buying this thing for $8 is because they need to get over the $35 for free shipping, basically what we call a "filler item" shipping is $6.99, game console is $7.99, I can see the Atari VCS falling into this selling model, just anything to get them out the door.

Perhaps Atari should pay to have a product placement with Deadpool playing a crappy 2600 remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre on the new VCS in Deadpool#3, but that is a good 2 years away, Atari probably will not be finished making the console by then--- ZING!

  5. Even if Atari sent out Non-working (or not finished) consoles, they will still be infamously collectable. This way Everyone wins, the backers will have the last Atari console ever made and it will be worth more than they paid for on E-bay, especially sealed and the people calling out Atari on this alleged scam will have closure. All parties win Everyone goes home happy pappy, especially me because I will have plenty of youtube videos to watch covering the scam. I am especially looking forward to Stop Drop & Retro and #CUPodcast coverage, and I expect plenty of callbacks to the Retro VGS. Question is will we see a third alleged scammer rise up in 2020? What is there left to exploit?

One thing I would love to have from the old arcade days is one of those After Burner roller coaster cabinets and especially the Sega 360 cabinet, those cost $1 back in the day for a play and that was major coin for a kid.

  6. I have to go get one of those $1 wine coolers (o.5%) from the grocery store for new years eve :)
I guess you can say I am not a heavy drinker. People made fun of me so I switched to Smirnoff Ice, then they told me that was a chick's drink :(
I gave up since then and just consumed those sparkling "Champaggins" from my Dollar store, those are de-alcoholized ciders, but the bottle is really nice, you could fool anyone at first glance.
I hope im not a Dandy :( I guess it is better than being a Dendy.
Oh yea I have to get some $1 Michelena Taco Bites, because I was told not to drink on an empty stomach xD

  7. Time to hit up the stores to get my %90 off cards, decoration and wraping paper for next year :)
Atari should get in on the discount and buy 10,000 Consolation cards to mail to the backers with the unfinished Console that they had to Consolidate to the failed projects pile.

Anyway, I hope nothing but the best for Atari in 2020, go forth into the new year 10,000 strong!

  8. ^ This is what gets me angry, the fact that I share space with people that can get easily bamboozled by a single LED taped across a 3V watch cell.
Ooooooh it glows, all hail Atari!
I mean people who run scams like this I can stomach, but getting all excited without any serious deliberations make me wanna barf.
Prof. Farnsworth put it best "The evil I could tolerate, but the stupidity... [He shudders.]"
If someone comes up to me and asks for my money, I make them jump hoops, they want MY money, I have what they do not have, I have the upper ground.
You should say to Atari "Lookie here B****, when you get something that I can actually play and demo, I might consider backing you, with %100 I get my money back if you fail, and I get %110 back if you are successfull."

In the Coleco Scam video (the one that Atariage found to be a video capture card) Pat the Nes Punk is wearing a GOLD Atari T-shirt, I feel like going to the mall and getting that T-shirt Kiosk to print up a Coleco Chameleon Shirt, and I ship it to him with a note, telling him to hold on to it until he makes a video about the VCS debacle. This will be some Forshadowing Hindsight.

Oh and for a bonus, I got one of those RFID sleeves for free, it was for ELDERLY FRAUD PREVENTION ( My Old man got a few of them along with some goodies)
    It says on the sleeve
    ========================
    BEFORE GIVING YOUR MONEY AWAY...
    Take your time.
    Ask questions.
    Get information.
Say no it you have to!
    =========================
These seems to be good advice for ANYONE, especially if some skeezy lookin' man ask for money to start a new videogame console for a company that went down the toilet many decades ago.

As for quality control for submissions to the Atari store? lulz, expect many calculator games, remember the 2600 Sesame street games?

The ONLY way I can see any form of moderation is if each VCS serial number can "vote" on an app, since there are only 10,000 units that must be shipped out, these people can be the reivewers and vote down a game because I cannot see how Atari will have Apple or Google funds to keep a complete staff for this reason alone. The way I see it, if a serious game is made for the VCS, it will be so expensive that each of the 10,000 backers would have to buy the game twice just for them to break even. Some top tier games cost more than big budget movies.

Atari needs to open this thing up to the Android market, this might actually enable Atari (infrogrames) to stay in business long enough to find a big landfill to dump these things. :D

  10. Everyone just calm down, let these people have thier say, let them enjoy the thought of actually getting a new Atari console.
Just stay on the sidelines and be at peace, for the time of reckoning is coming, and they all shall recieve the comeuppance dished out.
I am calmly working on my speech, and boy it is a doozy. Lots of "I told you so" and references to Coleco Chameleon.
The cool-aid poured out of the jug of Atari must be laced with some psychotropic agent because sugar alone cannot explain the rabbid fanboyism that rivals that of Apple's sheep. Even Apple cannot get away with "No news is good news" that is some serious (insert Angry nintendo Nerd expletives %&$#!) Buffalo diarrhea mess.
Saying sheet like that takes some serious Cult leadership experience (allegedly)
I'd rather have a Bento box than an Atari box, and I dont eat raw fish!

When the warmth of the wet pee in thier pants has gone, the cold cold truth will sit in, then and ONLY then will you be able to have a rational conversation.

  11. Two videos from GURU LARRY for CheeseGuy to watch before he launches the VCS. Yes, everything will be fine.

I will leave a bit of advice for anyone buying a new product from a company that is not established.

    1) Before you buy the product, E-mail or Give a rin-a-ding-ding to the company's customer service and enquire about how to get your defective product serviced. If you cannot even get a reply or are on the phone for over an hour, you know it is going to be a bad experience.
Since this is a new product, there is no need for them to verify information since there should be at least one year warranty on parts and labour. If they quote any fees well you know what they are all about. And if you have to pay for shipping both ways be wary, you will not get anything repaired properly.

  12. I guess the big reveal will be somewhere between Jan 25 and Feb 8th next year, Cheeseguy will probably stay in China for the festival to make sure those Atari VCS consoles are on schedule. He will be able to spend some time personally looking over each system for fit and finish as the factory will be closed.
Also it is year of the RAT. ;)

  13. What do you call the backers?

I think they are All the Jedi, I mean Atar'i'.... whispering "our money force is with you... always".
Atari-"I am all the Videogames!!!" /|\
doo dooo do do do duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

    /-_-\

Also, I did not eat sardines and crackers, I ate chicken hot dogs and a 1/2 can of beans, now I have a pot to clean. Apparently the "Force" cannot do dishes :(

  14. ^^^ Dang namit!
This is why I disable Images on this forum... Now I am hungry for Tacos, all I have is a can of Chef Boy-R-D in the pantry.
I can make a frozen Pizza and fold it up like a taco, but that would involve turning on a oven, taking it out of the box, recycling the box and finally having to wash a pizza pan. Seems like more work than making a new game console. All right crackers and a can of sardine it is... munch munch

Oh yea and that Atari response is gold.

-"Tools? where we are going we don't need.... -_- tools."

  15. ^^ Like this Console is going to be an Absolute ClusterFudge Debacle?
Just like Mike (Kennedy) these Goobers spent more time working on how much of a CUT they can take than actually getting games ready for launch?
    In an overview these are the problems (in my opinion) with Atari;
#1 Lack of Technical Prowess (Jumping from designer to designer for hardware)
#2 Lack of leadership Fortitude (You do not do an interview and respond with "I don't Know")
#3 Financial Impotence (All of the $3 mill has already been spent or allocated, no room any missteps or mistakes now)

  16. Anyone else bothered by the fact that there are no leaks whatsoever?
You would think for a high profile new gaming system and all those prototypes being made one person would have snapped a picture of the thing booting up or at least the complete game system in the shipping box ready to go.

This in and of itself disturbes me, sometimes you dont look what is there, but what is missing to get clues.

  17. MindLink?
Is that the thing that Vulcans do to get your password for the Enterprise? (EDIT: I just found out it was a real thing in 1984, cancelled because of hurting eyebrows)
Maybe that hand greeting thing they do is just the future Atari Logo o.o-3 Live long, and eat Tacos...

I forgot, is the VCS going to have USB ports to connect a Keyboard and Mouse? or is a USB hub needed to get more ports?
And if so, does that mean you can attach more than 4 Atari controllers by using a USB hub like the NES Tap?

You know, I thought about it, when Hewlett Packard reinvented itself, I really DigDug the Logo, it was modern and minimalistic,(plus it looks like a robot is giving you the up and down Finger)
perhaps Atari might think about that... Atari in Ascii form /|\

  18. Since Atari cannot compete on brute force graphics capability, they need to pull a Nintendo and compete on gameplay, I would suggest Jazzing up old games with flamboyant graphics to appeal to people who are not hard core gamers but want to feel like how they did back in the Arcade days with lights, sounds (Q-sound) and wizzing action, and NOT beeps and Boops like old atari games.

Take games like Ghouls 'N Ghosts Ultimate or Double Dragon Neon, same game jazzed up, and another strong point is the music. My goodness the Streets Mango Tango level (go listen on youtube) just awesome. Other mentions is music from old games like Konami's Voilent-Storm (best rap I ever heard), and X-men 6 player game (Junk Factory)
Games that teeter on the complete rediculousness like Ninja Baseball Batman are not graphics power hungry but are just so much fun and easy to play.
Atari needs an in-house dev and not solely rely on third party.
The VCS need a gimmic like Nintendo, they had the Wii-Mote, slapping a controller with more than 2 buttons on it will turn away old and casual gamers that grew up with NES, Atari and what not. Look for inspiration like "Typing Of The Dead", simple games like Legend Of Zelda did well because of a story and adventure full of clues and not 12 analog sticks and 24 buttons to push.

I might dare suggest ripping off Rob Wyatts latest KickScammer (allegedly) The GameBoard, make Board games and allow people to use cell phones as a controller (Wifi or Bluetooth). The Atari will display a large gameboard on the TV and the cell phone will display the info for each player. The old boardgame CLUE! is a good candidate. There are many older people that do not have 23 hours a day to learn how to play these new games, or the hands to button mash like they used to back in the day.
I dont know what Atari can do to save this thing but hard core games is not the answer, the people that want to play these games want Next Gen consoles with insane graphics at super refresh rates on the TV, to them it is serious competition, shaving off 3 seconds on a level is like a life goal to them.

An example of a system that lasted well over a decade is the Xavix (X-Port), the games were not trying to compare with other videogame consoles but it was a fitness console, much like what the Wii became to be.

  19. I think everyone in this thread has overlooked the most cruicial and glaring mistake Atari has made with the alleged release of this "Console"

    ATARI HAS NO MASCOT!

Nintendo has Mario, Sega had Sonic, Xbox has Master Chief, Turbo grafx had Bonk (after Keith Courage),
Playstation... well Crash Bandicoot? well they have a few...

If Atari want to be taken seriously they need to find a mascot fast! how are they going to differenciate themselves from the others?
I say let it be female, they can ride the wave that has taken Hollywood movies by storm, this way they might have a chance to sell consoles.
Anyone dare to come up with ideas to help them?
I suggest "Pitfall Holly", they can make a game in the Tomb Raider series where a strong Amazonian woman has to save the weak feable men from captors.
This could be plan B for Atari, make this a game system and platform for women, programmed by women for women gaming...
Mr. CHeeseGuy, I think it is time you step aside and let a Woman run Atari, this would be the publicity you NEED at your most darkest hour.
You also will need a catchphrase or a jingle... like "Get Atari. Get Woke."

  20. ^^ Be carefull, your daughter's kind heart and good will might get her suckered into buying a VCS to support old poor man CheeseGuy, and the stories of the wicked men, trying to make everyone feel bad for not supporting a company that is completly secretive, had not shown any device booting up months before alleged release and has no scruples when dealing with contracted partners.

Hear me oh Atari!, as the final day approaches, you bring upon yourself your personal apocalypse! Your downfall will be your own and your failure will be complete...

    (too melodramatic?)

  21. ^^^ The plan is as StopDropRetro from Youtube said CUT N' RUN

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0qyUhb3VXI

CheeseGuy's plan (Allegedly) was to pump up hype around Atari and hope someone would scoop them up for a cool Billion Dollars, give or take a few hundred mill. He wanted the stock to fly high.

Even if he had this thing complete and ready, he (allegedly) would delay it in hopes some fish would bite, because he knows once it goes live it is going to crash like a laptop with spilled orange juice all over it.

  22. No one wants to browse the internet on a device connected to a TV, this is why Tablets exist, this is why you check your email on your phone.

I prefer to do these things on my computer with a proper mouse and keyboard, but on a TV? NO WAY! have you any idea how many emails with subject
"Big boobies" I get?, how much shame will I feel if a guest clicks the search bar and I forgot to clear it!

I am very scared for this man and his friends at Atari, I mean with no official partners and no revenue stream months before launch, how.. HOW!! is this game console/PC going to survive? Atari will need to at least outsource the customer service. I cannot see these guys answering phones all day and dealing with warranty repairs. This costs serious money, employees! an accounting department, some sort of Office that is not in a hotel!
I'd be worried if I were you Cheeseguy!

I foresee this launch going down bad like a platter of Tacos at a Weight watchers meeting.
