  1. AtGames Flashback Blast was a scam, they knoew they could not get the roms, NES ROMs and Arcade ROM's are not even close, its not like Coke and Pepsi Fine whatever I wanted Pepsi but I will survive. Hey I wonder if I can pre-order or buy the Atari VCS from Toys R Us 2, the revenge
  2. All these clown sound the same- "Look at our case!" that translates to "We got F'in nothin' inside except fairy dust and magic beans".. come back later we will blow your socks off! The thing here is that the CASE was the selling point of the original Crowdfunding pitch, and they changed that, everything changed, like some sort or work in progress. This is like when a car company makes Futuristic concept cars, just to get people riled up with rediculous wheels and features, then the car comes out and it looks nothing like the concept in any way, and the fans still praise it and spend 50K buying an ugly piece of crap because or BRAND LOYALTY! This is what angers and saddens me the most, so much effort of CONSUMER PROTECTION has been made, now we have "return for a full refund if you are not satisfied" Internet reviews galore! something we never had back in the day. But yet people will still blindly hand over cash, and when things go bad, they take it like a good little door mat, when they should be calling them out! I really hope this things gets a good review roasting.
  3. ^ Allegedly there was someone out of camera holding a loaded revolver at his head. It could have really been a gun, or strong arm tactics, or just legal threats, sort of like when Sony made that Ghostbusters movie and forced cameos using contractual obligations from like 30+ years ago.
  4. ^ I just love the magician and the "Hello Everyone" on the SDR videos. He knows how and when to call out BS when no one else will. It gets out of hand when one idiot HACK working at Engadgety or other click-for-profit BLOG desperate for an article before going to lunch will read a press release by the 2 clowns and turn it into a headline "ATARI IS BACK! big 3 put on notice!" Then every other wothless no-body trying to comeup blog all over the world copy and paste the article, with NO ONE actually doing any investigation whatsoever. In a matter of days a press release turns into an avalanche of hearsay turn facts = 3 million dollars. Only The Register did any actual investigation. I really hope Gamester81 does not get caught up in this like the last time he got hosed by the Chameleon.
  5. ^ never know, if a few early pre-production models get into the hands of backers, these could be worth something as a collectors item, it is not like this has never happened before, look at all those NES carts that should not have even been sold (Stadium events, Tetris) All those prototype systems that say "property of Nintendo/Sony/PC Engine" How are they out on Ebay being sold for big money without them being hunted down and sued? This happens in the car industry more often than you think, the Audi TT roadster without the spoiler at the back is worth more because it literally IS more dangerous to drive, the Mini Clubvan, it is illegal to sell it anymore (Chicken Tax in USA), the Nissan GTR, the first versions before the Launch Control update to the firmware... So a shiny ugly Atari VCS might be a crappy videogame system but will be a collector's dream item, I feel bad for encouraging this.
  6. If this thing actually gets sold from WalMarty and Game (please) Stop, I wonder if it is going to have one of those cheap nasty photocopied pieces of paper in the box that reads... "DO NOT RETURN THIS PRODUCT TO THE STORE" "We at Atari PROMISE YOU cross our hearts Best Friends Forever, that a software update is in the works! and this system will get better we are working with partners to get games... GAMES.. GAAAAAMES!!!!"
  7. ^^ I dont think Atari thought about thier position in the videogame console market. Let me list some reasons why, #1- They are not, and never were the "Underdog". Atari was at the top, then came crashing down like the Hindenburg (Rip) #2- By showing off the old Joystick controller ad nauseum, they show that they are only about retro games and stuck in the past. (and no that fake prototype Xbox controller with the electrical tape over the logo does not count) #3- They have no attitude, these are old men tying to be hip, only to rock climb and skydive to break thier hips and then delay the release, like the world should wait on the old man picking out the perfect orange at the grocery store. No young people want to be around them lest buy thier product. This is the same reason why Buick is no longer a car in name, just badging, the the name "Buick" is associated with old people's car and has been for a long time so GM does not want that name on the cars anymore. (Perhaps they should have released a V6 dual Turbo 2020 Buick Grand National and GNX to save the name, oh well) #4- By putting woodgrain on it, they are clearly saying "WE ARE RETRO!" #5- Nintendo has them beat for the casual games segment, especially with the Switch that people will take on the go to get a game fix until they get home, Atari needs a gimmick like this where the game is 2 part, on the console, then on an App in the Goog Play store or Apple App store, you log in and continue a mini game, this way you lock your players into the Atari eco system. Atari! listen here, No one is going to do the work of getting your user base you lazy e-begging schmucks! No way are you just going to release a system and expect game studios to waste valuable time and resources to devellop custom games to get droves of fanbois and newcomers to hand over money for games on a system that has a miniscule userbase compared to the big 3, heck even App store or Google play store will out prioritize you. Wake up! Microsoft FAILED with windows phone spectacularly! and they had obscene amounts of money to throw at it, but without app developers it went downhill faster than a runaway Taco stand. It is one thing to be hopeful and optimistic but it is another to have your heads completely in the clouds while a lightning storm is a brewin' and then aliens in flying saucers go PEW PEW PEW! I wish you best of luck Atari.
  8. DreamcastGuy, the type of guy to stand right next to you in an empty elevator. DreamcastGuy, the type of guy to stand right behind you in line at Taco Bell with a bill order pickup number. DreamcastGuy, the type of guy to have "Guy" in his youtube handle. :D
  9. I called it! now people are sayin' that glossy plastic looks cheap as 2-4-1 Tacos at 3 Amigos. I have this LED flashlight I bought at Wal-Crap for $2, it is made of very durable plastic, as a design cue it has 5 bands like the Atari VCS shell, in between is glossy plastic but the rest of the flashlight is matte, the matte looks great, the glossy part shows so much scratching it is unbelievable. I am trying to scratch the matte part but I cannot even get 1 hairline to show. the brand is "Hyper Tough" by the way. This shiny plastic is going to scratch unless you handle it with latex gloves, but knowing how rabid some of the Atari cheerleaders are I expect nothing but a white glove treatment from them. So now I can confirm that Atari CHOSE to make it glossy, if a $2 LED flashlight can be made with matte high impact resistant plastic , the coleco chame... Atari VCS shell can be made matte as well. This thing is going to get railed on. My personal advice to collectors, do not even take it out of the box, the slight wind in the room from your movement might blow some dust on the console and scratch it.
  10. Next update will be obout the Atari VCS name change( i am speculating) VCS= Very Casual System? VCS= Very Calculated Scam? VCS= Very Crap System? VCS= Venticular Computer System? VCS= Vaunted Collector's System? Those are the best name changes I can come up with, I'm guessing this will be the next big update news, since they have nothing to show.
  11. Sooo, release date is March 20, 2020? Best hurry up and change that date a month earlier because Doom Eternal will be released, no one will be looking at this turd unless it has that game and I dont thing iD is going to make a port oh wait I forgot SANDBOX MODE!, so a release date on the same day as a AAA title? that spells DOOM for Atari... get it? yuk yuk.
  12. A good way to deal with forum creepy --pasta-- Taco stalkers is to ignore your inbox, I never looked at it. I cannot remember the last time I answered a doorbell, I allways tell my 2 older parents at home never answer your door unless you know someone is coming, just look out the window if it is me. Especially if it is the police DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR unless they are waving a warrant, no need to invite vampires into your house., if they see you outside, remember "I have no recollection of those events in question" This is one benefit of living in an apartment, disable the buzzer, people get the message when you dont have a buzzer (get lost), I am not interested in a 10 year subscription to Retro Magazine, I do not need to know about the upcoming Atari VCS, because not even its creaters know what it is (burn!)
  13. With all the Tomfoolery associated with the Atari team, I would expect the Sega Dreamcast 2 to come out before this thing, And there is a 99.9999% chance of that not happening. ( yes I know, I hate saying that) Anyone have Ming-Chi Kuo's Email? perhaps he can dig into the Atari supply chain and tell us what they purchased from China... I'd expect 10,000 blinking LED's and Double AA battery holders :D
  14. When this thing is sold for less than the value of the sum of its parts, AKA the Bill Of Materials list, then I will consider buying it, knowing I ripped them off by buying a failed product. It is always satisfying going into my local Dollar store and coming out with a massivley discounted product that was liquidated because it failed in the market.
  15. Atari has a main point of "SandBox" mode This speaks volumes about the confidence level, usually a tech company tries to LOCK its patrons into the ecosystem or the platform trying to unify it, not trying to create a fractured one. I suspect software is extremely lacking at this point. "With the Atari VCS SANDBOX mode you can do whatever you want!" Hey! Atari I can do whatever I want with the Computer I am typing this on right now and I dont have to spend a single dollar! more Taco money for me! Is that not the title of the go scam me? "Atari VCS: Game, Stream, Connect Like Never Before | Indiegogo" Well since there will be no native Streaming Apps that is complete lie, please continue with the hogwash, If I wanted to Game, Stream like never before I would not have paid good money now would I? Backers paid you for a game console not a walmart prebuilt computer that needs an OS to run.
  16. I like how Intel got called out by basically everyone on the price drops and lifted review embargo a few days ago because AMD delivered the goods. The point here is that no one in this thread is trying to hate on Atari, trying to keep the little guy down. Intel pulled something like a really bad movie studio pulled when they know the movie sucks, and they are getting called out on it, no matter if you are big or smal if you try to pull the sheets over people, especially in tech, you will get called out. Shady behavior is easily spotted and after the coleco chameleon debacle I think more people are much more vigilant and less forgiving.
  17. ^^^ (I was not sure if everyone had the same page count as I, I think guests see a different number of posts per page) I like how with the Coleco Chameleon no one was able to see the back of the console, but with the Ataribox, no one can see the Front of the console. It is little things like this that keep me going, that and feeding the squirrel family in the tree outside my window xD If Atari is indeed making a first run, that would indicate that the specs are now nailed in stone & cannot be changed, so where are the official full specs? Also, if Atari was indeed preparing to ramp up production, would there not be a purchase order leak? When Apple is getting ready to make a new device, there is usually a leak saying "Apple is buying 10 million camera modules from so&so) Or there is a sudden shortage of 128GB flash memory chips
  18. Just curious, I am on page 950 right now, what page are you guys on? I just want to know how many pages left until 1000
  19. I have a salvaged mini speaker, old BT headset, a roll of Foil paper & a printer, I am tempted to make an Aluminum foil speaker Atari hat...
  20. Perhaps He thought that people would be Thankful to have any news, so he released it on the Holiday. But unfortunately, until the system is shown booting up & actually doing something, it is still just a non-edible empty Taco shell. I mean you could technically smash up a taco shell & put it next to some salsa... Backers should be DEMANDING to see the system booting up & loading a game, no jump cuts, no weird angles, no electrical tape. At this point there is no "we have to keep trade secrets" or "we have not yet patented everything"
  21. ^^^ Lol Occam's Razor.. Remember the "Skarp Laser Razor" That got kicked off of Kickstarter (pardon the pun)because the prototype was a joke, so they scuttled over to.. guess who! Indiegogo! The crowdnfunder that has no scruples as long as they get a cut. (pardon the pun again) My assumption is that they just wanted the cash & had no plan to deliver a viable product... oh wait!
  22. ^^^Update to my comment Atari and Spielberg haggled over rights and money until the end of July 1982. To get the game out in time for the Christmas holiday, Warshaw would have to build it from scratch in five weeks. The CEO of Atari called him directly. "Atari will always prioritise delivering a high-quality product over a self-imposed deadline," says Atari VCS COO I can go on but I digress
  23. ^^^ Lol at those articles, here is a quote "Atari will always prioritise delivering a high-quality product over a self-imposed deadline," says Atari VCS COO See, this does work when you are in the Tech industry, you wait a month, your product is already obsolete! Heck you wait in line for an Smartphone, by the time you get to the cash another one just came out! Self-Imposed Deadline, sooo you are basically saying you are incapable of keeping your word. Thanks I'll never lend you a $20 cuz I aint getting it back. Also if this was "self imposed" then it is YO Fault! (oh no he said it!) This is what happens when you dont have to deal with investors.. or a boss that will kick you out & hire someone else to get the job done.. ON TIME! This is EXACTLY the mentality of Mike Kennedy, remember that crap he was selling? "Oh I want to go back to the good 'ol days where games were finished, flawless & did not need updates" Ya OK M.K that time never existed, this is why you can blow through E.T in like 60 seconds, Sonic the Hedgehog levels in 30 seconds by warping. They released the games because they had to. Same thing with modern consoles, just to meet a deadline they even shipped out Blank CD's with just a title screen, the entire game was a patch! (skateboarding crapy game Tony hawk?) You were suppose to release the hardware, software can always be updated over this little thing called the Internet. These Trilobites got nothing substantial to show after they took all that dough, now they know they are gonna have to eat Crow, so they put on this show... yes I know it rhymes :)
  24. Imagne if this is just an elaborate hoax, just like Mike Kennedy with the SNES jammed inside the Jag shell. At this point we are still at the same level as Chameleon, no demo, prototype working, just this time we have moar Shells! It still is doing nothing at all. I would not put it past them to put on a little lab show for the people. As someone else put it "If they do indeed intend to mass market this, they should have started adds for the system already" I would have already started teasers on social media, viral campaigns that cost nothing to develop, this is not like the old days where you HAD to print adds, buy TV airtime, anyone can market anything for little to nothing. when this thing arrives, it will be dead, people will think it is just another @Games flashback. I Highly doubt Videogame stores, (Toys "R" Us in Canada) Walmart will be giving floor space for demo units unless Atari is giving them exclusive sales & an insane cut of each console sold. Dont forget Xbox, Nintendo & Playstation are big players that have worked out territory, no way are they going to stand by and let someone else come up without nasty anti-competitive tactics. All I know if this thing is sold at Sears & K-Mart I am going to have major flashbacks (pardon the pun)
  25. It looks to me as the back panel has the cross grill mesh, so the white block inside is just that, solid white, whatever it is, ribbon, connector or just straight through to the backside of the woodgrain decal panel at the front. Look st the other side you can see the plastic black mesh grill. You would absolutely need this to allow air flow but yet stop little things from ending up inside, possibily shorting out the board.
