  1. I got back into the game 2 years ago now.. well just shy of. I picked up a Clone IIe. Not long after that, I was handed a complete GS sans Monitor, which has been a whole different story in itself, and my most recent acquisition has been a II+ Clone. At this point I too think the collection is essentially complete. If a genuine of either of the clones presents itself I might take them up if they're within my budget and there are a few cards I'd like to get hold it, like a mouse card for the IIe... but generally they're complete, functional and they're here At the moment I probably use the CloneE the most, its been hitched up via serial to a Pi to get to BBS and the like and make itself useful locally as a terminal.
  2. I have no idea what they used as a monitot, probably just a regular.. But there was a group of Eye patched individuals here that turned up to UserGroup meetings with a IIc and an inverter and did their business out in the carpark much to the chagrin of Group officials... <chuckle>.. Back then this was pretty amazing stuff...
  3. Don't forget there is also something about how the joystick will give spurious readings if reread to frequently. You have a possibility it may be the way the software is handling it. Something to do with the D2A conversion and the time required for it to stabilise to a reading.
  4. Definitely a VESA video card, they didn't last long before PCI arrived. Around the era of the DX2-66 range of processors. So there are fewer of them around too. Manuals and what have you, you need the right person in the right place. Some people will pay, but they're generally heavy and expensive to ship. Unidisk Controller is nearly gold... Interesting collection of manuals from a range of systems.
  5. I recall the 140k version being a flippy disk with the same volume name for both sides... looks nice but without an HD or equivalent little value. The 800k version might have shipped with IIc+'s or one of the early IIgs Prodos16 systems.
  6. My BBS setup is a bit more convoluted, on the local network I can convince files to download, but remote users have been super hit and miss between nothing working and z-modem working.
  7. Don't know how you went, but over TCP, x-modem seems to be the most reliable... but even that's not what I'd call 90% despite my hopes when putting the file areas back, it remains more effective to FTP or HTTP them, but you're welcome to try. Let us know how you go. A
  8. Nice work, thats a sexy IIe... only note I have, is you can replace RIFA's with non RIFA parts... that aren't paper and should last longer. But the ones you have look the part.
  9. Yeah, I only know enough to get it to run, despite wanting to like it at different times, it never grew on me. However the posts about it seem to come past semi-regularly. I wouldn't mind landing an Applicard at some stage, at least its extra 64k is useful in a II+ Otherwise, I only have one because it came in a system. Used to be a thing you could sell to a secretary type, or someone working in a typing circle, CP/M with Wordstar... long after CP/M and from my memory Wordstar were pretty defunct these continued to be a thing you could sell.
  10. Out of interest.... who has a Z80 and what version of CP/M does it use? To get the ball rolling a little, I have Clone SoftCard - SoftCard CP/M v2.x
  11. That's intriguing. I've got images for EZ and 2EZ, aside from some of the tracks being straightened out, they look pretty much the same, layout and components. Admittedly the images I've got to work with are not the best, but I wonder if there's yet another model out there..
  12. That's about all the info I'm good for... There is an image for AE CP/M out there.. https://mirrors.apple2.org.za/ftp.apple.asimov.net/images/cpm/os/ Holds 2.23 and 3.1 with the advantage they won't have been preconfigured for any particular hardware, so long as you can get the images to a floppy, they ought to boot.
  13. Hmm wellllll How's this IIe function normally? A lot of screen garbage can often be memory issues, especially if it seems pretty random. But if other software functions properly, or it'll pass selftest you'd think thats ok. If it was with the system the card was in then its probably right, which does appear to make it some kind of softcard clone. But what was the setup in the system it came from? RamCards? anything else odd in there? Try and replicate the original setup as much as possible, the disk you're trying to boot might be trying to load a specific setup which the current system doesn't match. Do you know what version of Softcard CP/M that is? There are different version out there, 2's and 3's from memory if you can find an image that will boot, you can check the original image and what its doing. Ahh you might find AE's CP/M will run on it too...
  14. There's a 2EZ as well, I've not seen EZ before, best guess is a softcard clone, but there's nothing else I've been able to find to confirm or deny this.
  15. Can't say I know the card, which CP/M version are you trying to use? Try a few others? You booting from S6D1 a lot of CP/M is fussy about that.
  16. ol> Do the Floppy Emus also work with CP/M disk images? They do, you need to follow the usual strictures for your CP./M version, usually S6,D1 or they'll fail to boot. I haven't played with much aside from testing the theory.
  17. That is the one I was trying to think of.... Thank-you!
  18. Got your floppulator (floppy emulator), still swapping between two floppies and a emulator floppy setup? I found this a pain in the patooty, I have plenty of floppys and still use them... Seeing as I have clone half height 5.25" drives this was a bit easier than it would be with a disk II unit. I found an old case, don't know what from it might have been a terminal, it was empty when I got to it. Tore down the floppulator, cut a hole in the front to mount the screen, a little bit of supportwork and mount the board behind the slot there. Add a switcheroo drive selector and jump some switches onto the front of the case there and presto. Toggle switch on the left, up for emulator, down for floppy drive. No more plugging, unplugging, bare boards, poking about for the micro switches on the switcheroo, all from the comfort of your armchair http://pineapple.zapto.org/switcheroo for more details on that. Get your floppulator from your favourite source, and scare up or manufacture a case to mount it all in. A
  19. No its not some kind of sex toy. If it is, you're in the wrong place. She's a side scrolling shooter. Reminds me of a cross between the old arcade job scramble and I'm still having a mental blank of the A2 game that has "Attack the Tank" in it... Fly through a series of caverns, avoiding missiles, blowing said missiles and radar stations up. With laser or bombs. I've popped it up on TLP. You'll find it in the http pages, ftp or the BBS itself if you can download from there. http://tlp.zapto.org or get it from the horses mouth https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2FStewBC%2Fpenetrator-apple2%2Freleases&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEfZcbcG9bpaMJvS1eXSaGL_uYG0g A
  20. It'll definitely run, I haven't noticed any weird characters, but as mentioned I'm running a CloneE not a Genu-wine one.
  21. It might... I don't really know whats in CloneE's roms... but the processor was enough to a get it to run, and b it looks for all intents and purposes normal. From ye good ol' days on a platty IIe and a GS.
  22. For what its worth, my clone IIe came with a 6502 in it, I didn't really notice this until I tried to run ProTerm which complained bitterly about wanting an enhance IIe. However rather than looking for an enhancement kit, which I didn't think I would find, and a set of roms to match a clone, I just bunged a 65c02 into it. Up to this point I haven't had any trouble running anything that requires enhancement. I'd be a little interested if there is anything picky I can try it against, but most only seem to be looking for the processor. So so far 100% qualified success
