  1. When you want to create pixel art of a character you made, it's often extremely hard to pick an old console to make the art for :|

7800 or NES would be my choice...

I think I'll end up doing 7800 pixel art, I'm bias lol.

In honor of the year of the pig, "Oink!" by Activision.

But otherwise, yeah not so much.

  4. Thanks so much! I'm also excited to see what I can manage to make with the 7800 BASIC language
  5. Wow! Thanks so much! The katakana actually says BlastHead (Burasutoheddo), which is the name of the character.
  6. Apologies for the double post, I hadn't uploaded any 7800 pixel art in a bit, so I thought I would toss this one in the ring, hope you guys like it
  7. I laughed very hard at this lol, thanks for enjoying the art.
  8. Just made my first ROM in Atari 7800 Basic, woohoo!

  9. I've been struggling to get into my Atari 7800 I purchased over the holidays, any tips to get more out of the console?

Don't waste your money on the terrible CX78 joypad from Atari. There are many better options. I completely second GoldenWheels' games suggestions. For me, those are the holy trinity for the 7800.

Until you get a better controller, try holding the Proline *sideways* so that the stick is on the right side. Sounds bizarre, but once you get used to it, it's 100% more comfortable than holding it with the stick facing up.

Absolutely Amazing! I love the cartoony artstyle! Long live the 7800 homebrew community!
  11. Thanks a ton! I enjoy making art of these characters quite a bit! Here's a pic for the holidays, just for fun.
  12. Sorry I hadn't added to this topic in some time, been absolutely swamped with college, but I did this little image conversion in my spare time. It's one of the Colecovision images I posted here earlier, I went ahead and spruced it up for the 7800. I'm hoping once the holiday break comes around, I can look into learning 7800 basic, I've seen some people do amazing things with it.
  13. I have an issue of Batman from 1989 and it has both the Atari ads and double dragon 1 and 2 as well, no joke
  14. Oh my god, I hadn't even realized Good choice for a logo!
  15. Anyone remember the "Viewer Aggression Is Advised" ad? I like how edgy they're trying to make the 7800 sound.
  16. Gonna be playing some Atari 7800 this Christmas.

I haven't owned a 7800 before, but I did play one as a kid, so that's why I'm getting one for this Christmas :)

  17. I'm looking to buy an Atari 7800 Prosystem, I only ask that it be NTSC and include the AC adapter. Thanks a ton!
  18. You just gotta love those old ads, the "Pick a fight" one reminded me a lot of ads for the Sega Genesis lol. I kind of wonder why Atari wouldn't have put more money into the television ads, they had a ton of classic Atari 2600 commercials, like the one for Vanguard.
  19. I actually have an old comic book with the "Pick a fight" ad in it, it really should've been adapted into a commercial.
  20. Funny, I had never seen any of these lol. Very nostalgic.
  21. I looked at the countermeasure death screen, and I absolutely love the dissolve effect, and the music as well! I'll try asking around on the 8-bit forum, and I'll look at your homebrews, because I always find that kind of stuff very interesting; I myself hope to one day get enough coding knowledge to make a home brew on at least one of the Atari systems. So definitely keep me posted on your current project, I'd love to hear more about it, Thanks!
  22. I'm interested in doing some pixel art based on the specs of the 5200, and I wanted to see some examples of the best looking games for the system (Homebrews included lol). Any suggestions?
