  1. Fww - I noticed you have a newer schematic then I was referencing - my bad. Could you include a rev # on the schematic for clarity? I also see the part count went up by a few resistors and 2 transistors. The reason I didn't ask for a board and I'm making my own is my time is a variable this time of year. The company I work for has a holiday sale and that creates a wave of support needs that may not end until May. Some 18 hour days leave me wrecked. So I don't know how much I can contribute beyond documenting the build and trying to keep up with the changes. Once I clicked on the new schematic and zoomed SJ1 became obvious. I appreciate all the guidance. Thank you
  2. @mozzwald How are your powering your boards? SIO or USB currently? I thought I saw earlier it was better to power over USB. Thank you
  3. Are the grounds Isolated or Common? Anyone know why there are 2? Thank you
  4. @E474 in the earlier schematic a 1N5819 is called out. I don't know the difference between the 1N5819 and 1N5817 but in looking for the 1N5819 the 17 came up so they my be similar enough to use. See my Evernote link. Thank you
  5. Thanks Moswald. I think that clears it up. I had pulled that out but S1 & J2 did confuse me. I'm trying to pull together a BOM and make a through hole board for folks like me who are good at soldering but not so much at SMD. i spent a good amount of time pinning out a SIO cable to use for this. I have a small Desktop CNC. While I suck at making the Gerbler files I can machine PCB's on the fly. So if my design buddy can be convinced I can get some through hole boards made and test during the week. I have the resistors, might have suitable diodes as well if not I will order them. My goal is a clear BOM, and hookup guide. I wanted to work that out and was trying to avoid confusing anyone else. I'm also making a SIO BOB. I use Evernote to keep track of things. I will share my note here: https://www.evernote.com/l/AkW4vNFIqlVPJbTPHfzhDV14_N-uNDGWyXs Q - what is the function of S1? IS this what you are referring to as SJ1? It is switched on your boards? Once I have the 8266 worked out I will do the ESSP32 as well. Thank you
  6. Is there someone I can PM on the 8266 pinout - there are some things that are unclear to me. IE. IO label "USB" on the Atari side in the spreadsheet? Thank you
  7. Ebay on a very rare occasion. Thank you
  8. I'm trying to revive mine. Time will tell. Thank you
  9. This is an old thread however in Collage we printed Character based pictures - I found this - https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/converting-image-ascii-image-python/ hope this helps I'm going to fire up a Dot matrix printer
  10. Not having the ISO mounting board I'm building a breakout board. To that end, I've come up with a IDC 14 layout with a protective key - Labeled in Hex. The top row ends in "ack". Any thoughts ? Thank you
  11. Just a thought, I probably am one for very few that would want to disable the R handler. The P handler is something I asked for in a diffrent thread. It would be nice if there was an option to fully disable R. Why would you do this? For security. One of the reasons I decided to Re-Boot my Atari is because I can store information on it and unless you can get physical access it's a secure system. I will dedicate a system for online use. The ability to use P alone would be important to me on other systems. I hope this input is helpful. Thank you
  12. Is this a good socket for a GITA chip. I have done a tone of soldering but have very little experience with Sockets. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Mill-Max/110-44-640-41-001000?qs=sGAEpiMZZMs%2FSh%2Fkjph1tvt1%2FmEPT%2FXo32%2FKAtTErJw%3D Thank you
  13. FWW - I've ordered a a ESP8266 that matches the document - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081CSJV2V?pf_rd_p=ab873d20-a0ca-439b-ac45-cd78f07a84d8&pf_rd_r=R87B5M39SYKAXV9QEWA8 And will work on a SIO Break Out Board soon. I should be able to help with testing at the least in the next week. I will like likely set up a Pi3 with VNC and the Arduino IDE so it can all go in a case , or inside the Atari and update remotely, maybe even script it to look at boot up for updated code and archive the current version and update before execution. As stated elsewhere I know enough to be dangerous. - LOL Thank you
  14. @mozzwald Many Thanks! https://www.amazon.com/Espressif-Genuine-ESP32-DEVKITC-ESP-WROOM-32-soldered/dp/B01N0SB08Q/ref=sr_1_3?gclid=CjwKCAiA6bvwBRBbEiwAUER6JS9xkhGJEc8Vg4ElYpm3EMEUgY0vwop9KUasRQeQ-JikFQOkhB2-ZBoC-I0QAvD_BwE&hvadid=249570935458&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9031144&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t3&hvqmt=e&hvrand=10604818810848643432&hvtargid=aud-835997443427%3Akwd-385469978767&hydadcr=24662_9649011&keywords=esp32+devkitc&qid=1578056760&sr=8-3 I also realized later the pinout PDF is showing a ESP8266. Thank you
  15. @tschak909 Thank you, I have seen that link, I've been on other projects where all the developers linked to a specific part so everyone had the same platform. Is this a equivalent / acceptable part? https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13907 I think I have one in my Junk box. Thank you
  16. I'm interested in making one of these and tinkering, is there specific ESP32 that is being used for this? Thank you
  17. @Gavin1968 Changing the World. Finding an orderly way to store the Tetris blocks in the right order. PM me. Happy New Year!
  18. I have an involved story about how I got started in computers. It involves a friend that did art on the Atari 800. I resurrected my A8's to see if I could find some of the art he did. I spent New Years Day looking for it. I have found some. With a few minutes left in the day. I have direction. I will paint a vivid Word-picture some day but I want to share one of his works - it needs color correction, doesn't do the real thing justice. Here's a taste - He was able to convey a lot in AtariPaint. Thank you
  19. So I know just enough to be dangerous. With great power comes great respons ... - Not really! However here is where we are at: Stock Atari130XE, EXP80 on Joystick 2 port, Apple2c Monitor, Side2 Cart SpartaDos X 4.49 XEP80 loaded Load the Atariwriter -XL .atr file. The XE version wants to use extended memory and spirals into the dust. X /C ap.obj This will open AtariWriter on the XEP80. Hope this helps someone in the future. I can write and interact with Atari formatted disks over SIO2PC on D1: and D2: I can Save and Load to D3. However there is no way to see the contents of D3 in AW80. Thank you
  20. I suspected as much, but always will ask your advice.
  21. So I have a happy XEP80 set up now with an Apple 2c Monitor. I wrote a batch file in Sparta Dos to load the XEP80.sys. I can boot headless on the 40 Column side and type "-X" & Magically the XEP80 springs to life. Getting farther down the road. Thank you
  22. Thank you for the explanation. It's a stock 130XE. I will be getting a U1mb soon. Probably the beginning of February. I've put a Bit -O cash in the A8's since I jumped back in. Thx
