  1. I used a Weller 13w Blue as my daily driver for over 35 years. I did a big batch of boards by hand, 88 boards, 122 Joints a board. I bought the Hakko, it is well worth it if you have a use for it. I did 10k + joints in just under 2 weeks in my spare time. Not 1 of those 88 board have failed and it's been a year. If you are a hobby user that solders once a month, don't get the Hakko. If you solder almost every day, do get it. I hope that helps Thank you
  2. Is it just me? I don't yet have a U1mb upgrade. I'm using the Side2 with FJC, and have the OSS Roms (from FJC site) on the Side2 on my 130XE. I have Basic XE enabled on the Side2. I can boot and go into Sparta Dos X 4.49 - all drive access is good. Type CAR - Enter , I get to Basic XE, dir - list is all good. If I Type DOS - I get a mem save error, proceed to DOS and I no longer can access the Drives on the Side2 in Sparta Dos I get error 170 on Dir command. Did I miss a step I should be doing ? Thank you
  3. Has anyone tried to rotate the display to Landscape mode? I'd be interested in that. Thank you
  4. My Bad - post removed _ I posted about the display menu on the LCD and just realized this is a thread on the program menu.
  5. I have a few of these: Raspberry Pi KB on Amazon but saw this when linking the other one: Keyboard / learning remote on Amazon Good to find other people with this. What do you use on yours? Thank you
  6. https://www.vikingelectronics.com/wp-content/uploads/documents/product_manual/DLE-200B.pdf I love than it can do 28k up to 2.6 miles. I could get a lease line to a friends house. Lol
  7. I just found my 850 about 10 minutes after my 830. I found this that shows someone else has done this battery loop, the drawing is w/buzzer is basically a ring down. https://www.instructables.com/id/Direct-connecting-two-old-fashioned-modems-or-te/ I might break down and build one and wire up some phones in the house. https://www.adorama.com/vikdle200b.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAgKzwBRCjARIsABBbFuhooeppXZEElwyi5Vch32VegcqhJWJKui9DprdfFPEZn3iK_2BKTmIaAimBEALw_wcB There are a ton of ring down plans on the internet. Thanks
  8. Fun fact the Atari 830 Acoustic modem that was on that Teletype was fond yesterday on top of a SX212 and a XEP80. Along with around 100 floppy disks. Some where I have an old school phone I kept just for the 830. Thank you
  9. Joyfully the XEP80 is running - Took an Apple monitor to sort it out.
  10. OK - new parts arrived but not all is as it should be. I really need that Syscheck 2. A drop in replacement came for Andy and Andy 2.0 is up and running. I used Esters keyboard on Andy and it works 100% so this tells me their are definite issues with Esters Mainboard. The MMU I ordered didn't show up so that will have to be back burner for now. I will see if I can get Andy 1.0 Mainboard running agin. I got a NOS XEP 80 but it is not paying well with any of my monitors. More on that as I research more. Now I have a production 130 and a workstation 130 I will be able to develop some apps. All for now Thank you
  11. I have now, and I like it. However I need an upgrade to get to 80 Columns. I'm playing with a XEP80 and it's not working with a monitor they worked with before - Oh the joys ... I will need to get VBXE at some point. Thx
  12. Paperclip was a favorite. Not sure if it will run in 80 column mode. I got a copy of Atariwriter 80 coming with the XEP80. There seem to be a few other Word Processors more popular in 80 columns. I may default to just using the Action editor. Thx
  13. Thanks - Roydea6. I was confused what the extra nick names were from. Mclaneinc - Many thanks I will be going for a SysCheck 2 after the batch of parts I just ordered show up. I also need to get one of Gavins drives. Without your explanation I'd been lost on Roydea6s comment. Now I know. I appreciate the direction from both of you. This is a test @Mclaneinc Thx
  14. I have 2, 301 Modems and I can find a phone cord to inter-connect them. I believe a 9v loop will allow them to TX/RX. I was wondering if any one else had tried this already. I've meant to build a ring down for years, so this might be a reason too. My first printer was a Teletype over a modem loop. Great joy in getting the Atari to connect and print. Disappointment when I realized it was uppercase only, hey I was 16 at the time. -LOL Thanks
  15. Moonsweeper, Where can I get a SysCheck 2 card? After watching a video of FJC using one, I thought about it. I saw a thread where a version of it was sold out it seemed. I would love to get my hands on one. Thanks
  16. I have ordered one of these - https://www.atarimax.com/usbcart/documentation/ After contacting the original developer and getting directed to this page. https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=MicroUSB I'm looking to use a Wireless USB keyboard on a system I will be upgrading with a U1mb. Anyone using this cart? It's been around a long while. Thank you
  17. I eventually gave up and did exactly what you said. Went with a larger card split in half on Fat32. It's that I have some SD to CF cards from an old camera. I also have some wifi-SD cards "AirFlash" that might be neat to embed. On my 3D printer I can connect, dump a file and then use the local controller to print the new file. I will have to check but I bet they are Fat32. Thank you
  18. FWW - I'm hitting a wall on a current Mac in terminal - MacBook:~ dio$ sudo diskutil eraseVolume "MS-DOS FAT16" D1 disk2s1 Error with erase: The chosen size is not valid for the chosen file system (-69850) It's seems difficult to find a Partition aware solution. I can reformat the entire card without issue, save it will not work for its intended purpose. Raspberry Pi here I come. If not I'll see if I can locate a Windows 7 disk. The problem as stated is most of these solutions are Disk aware not Partition aware. I do appreciate the advice - An XPE disk might get me there too. Thx
  19. I have a new 16mb CF, in Sparta, I Fdisk and set for Fat16, set 3 APT. Created an External partition and 3 APT partitions. I left a 3mb fat16 partition. Here comes the rub. Plug it into Windows 10 and you can't format it as Fat16. I will look around but so far none of the native tools will do this. Windows 7 will turn to dust in 18 Days. The steps to getting the Fat16 partition will likely be easier in Linux than Windows. The concept I need a non-window PC to crate a Windows Partition is crazy. Once I find the blue pill I will clone it. Any thoughts?
  20. Hi Moonsweeper, It's a matter of space left to have "Stuff" - George Carlin had a skit on a place for my Stuff. So there was a old Atari 800XL storage box. Or so I thought. Dad had a backup 800XL sealed in an air tight bag - NIB, It has a new Electronics/Styrofoam smell. I has no yellowing as it has been Air free in a light tight box. It is a sight to see. So 1 more 800XL in the collection, and when I picked up the box there was a original Atari 400 under it. I have spent the day testing things and spend a few minutes playing some games. It's funny how much comes back from such a visit to the past. Thx
  21. So that last post - I fat fingered 822 - it's a 820 Printer - Basically my Brother in Law boxed up my Dads stuff and put it in a storage space. I had gotten my fathers 130XE earlier. But the stuff in the storage unit is pure gold. I found I have a 1040ST with a SM124, but I'm about the A8 right now. Here is my active-ish A8 collection. Unnamed is in transit so untested and the upgrades pending it actually showing up. The X on Ester and Andy denote they have problems. I will shortly have 3 maybe 4 running 130XEs. Anyone is Socal that wants to help diagnose Andy and Ester I'm down to drive. My Atari tech from the old days is no more. I have a patch for Andy that I think will get the lower 64k running. The trouble is Best sells the 130XE replacement mainboard populated for $79, the quick fix chip was less then $30 but how far do you go on a fix over replacement. In the end Ester is headed for scrap, but I bought a MMU to swap out to see if that fixes the odd cart issues. I may just use Ester for Socket practice. Muke, DAD,MOM & B* are all 100% functional. Are there people here that would be interested in parts like Esters' Mainboard if I end up just tossing it in the corner? I'm out of space and should down size anything not in use. That is are there those wanting to fix these parts up if I offer them as donation ware? Thanks for following along

FWW - I got rid of My brick for a power strip: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VM5DJS7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have bought 3 of these already - https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections/atari-800-xl-xe-xel-xld/products/atari-xl-xe-replacement-power-via-usb Yes I could make my own, but they are made better than I would and are off the shelf. This set up is able to run multiple A8's and the CRT's I'm using. I hope that helps Thank you
  23. I have a XEP80 on the way from Best - A Green Screen and Amber waiting for 80 Column fun Thx
  24. Many Thanks! For anyone looking for this behind me - TYPE CAR:D/Fn- Space >>D/Fn I was leaving the space out and it causes very diffrent behavior. Thx
