Xbox 360 Backwards Compat ( want do you want to see)
RxRated replied to Zoop's topic in Modern Console Discussion
There's no 'just put a chip in' in this case. The processor and architecture and video processor are entirely different from the original XBOX. They would have had to shrink an entire XBOX to a chip. then that is just even more sad.. they should have developed the 360 better so that the architecture was similar enough to have the xbox 1 chip in there... just saying, everyone else can do it, ... even nintendo, so it cant be that impossible.... and the wii is damn small, so i know that it must not be that hard to fit both types of chip sets in there. They switched from intel/nvidia in the xbox to ibm/ati in the 360. I have heard this was so they could "own" the hardware without paying any royalties. The big problem with the xbox was that they had to pay intel/nvidia a royalty for each one they sold, and therefore could never make a profit on the hardware. If they would have included the hardware to run xbox games, they would have had to pay again, so they opted for emulation. I may be wrong about this, but I thought I read it somewhere. (I don't want to come across like a know it all dumbass. We've had enough of those in the Modern Gaming Forum) -

I understand that M$ really won't be able to get every title BC, but they should at least attempt to do all of the platinum hits. -

Can the DS play GBA games in multiplayer via wireless connection? They came out with a wireless adapter for the GBA to avoid the game link cable, but will the DS's built in wireless work? I tried connecting 2 DS's with street fighter 2 in them and had no luck establishing a link.

Well...the xbox really dominates the fps area better than any other IMO. But here's some great games Jet set radio future Crimson skies Star wars knights of the old republic (Great action rpg) panzer dragoon orta ssx3 burnout3 All can be had for $20 or less. The last 2 aren't xbox exclusives, but if you don't have them already, they're great.

I see your from northern MI. Where at? I am from Alpena...the alcoholic capitol of the free world . Now residing in NC. That's interesting. My wife lived in Alpena when she was young and mentioned that many of the people her family knew had drinking problems. I just thought it was her group of friends. What's her maiden name? I knew just about everyone there at one time.

I've been at work all day...I'll check tonight to see if I have it. Also...you know that if you have a gba and a link cable you can load these games on to your gba and play them. I don't think the rare ones like zelda or smb work but the others do. Just select "advance play" on the menu when starting one. -
Do they still have those toughman contests up there? I used to go to those...had a buddy who won it twice.
-
I just sold a whole bottle of those to a lady on Medicaid for a buck.

I'm pretty sure I have Mario bros. as well. It's not one of the action replay games though. I found most of them by this site. http://www.project-hyrule.com/index.php -
This seems to be the 360's biggest limitation. M$ has said they were working on new compression to help with the 9 gig limit.

Yes they ALL exist! The 4 rare ones can only be unlocked with an action replay disc. That's how I got mine. And you can't share them with anyone by use of passwords etc. There are 15 total games that I am aware of. -
Yup, blu-ray is NOT needed for hi def games...look at the 360. Every game in hi def with a dvd-9 drive. The blu-ray drive is more to push sony's movie division. And I'm sure it pushed the cost up more than $100!!

Thinking of selling or trading my PSP
RxRated replied to Schmead55's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Same thing for me. The games are too expensive as well. I bought the 1 gig stick thinking it would make a decent music player, but haven't really used it. To say the least it has been a disappointment for me! -

No Shannon, I'm not that dumb. The 360 and ONE of my xboxes are on the system selector. The other xbox WAS already on a cat 5 cable. With the wireless link the 360 would network and go on xbl, the xbox would go on live but not network So the system selector now has a cat 5 cable on it's imput and everything works. PS if anyone ever wires a ethernet jack into their wall, use the B terminal code for xbox. I was told at Home depot that the A terminal was almost always used. When I wired it that way the 360 worked, but the xbox said I didn't have a cable connected. I switched to B and both worked flawessly.

Well I solved it! I was using a linksys wireless gaming adapter connected thru a pelican system selector. The 360, xbox, and ps2 all would connect to internet, and the 360 would network, but the xbox wouldn't. So I run some new cat 5 in the wall and hard wired the son-of -a-bitch and she works great. Thanks for the help everyone. I guess I should become a networking specialist.
