  1. You know you can get a brand new one for $100 with no strings attached (ie no contracts or anything), right? www.letstalk.com and others.

I don't laugh, I use one as my primary phone right now, primarily because I like wasting time on the metro with Bomberman. I'm not real happy with its performance as a phone so its days are probably limited, but I'll probably hang on to it to play games.

  2. I just wanted to contribute another problem free 360 experience. Played PGR3 for 3 hours yesterday, no heat problems. Hasn't crashed since I've owned it. I love PGR3 and the enormous selection of great cars, new features and expansive number of areas although perhaps the game balancing could be better. I have yet to lose an easy race with the Lotus and have won very few Medium races with anything. So far my favorite car is the Ferrari 575M.

No one seems to talk about Neon. It's very, very cool. Probably not good to watch if you're stuffed with turkey and prone to nausea.

  3. I think I was Gizmondo's first US sale..... I bought mine a couple days after the launch date, and then a few days ago I went to a new mall kiosk that opened up nearby, and when I was preparing to write a check, my name was the very first one in the Gizmondo database. Talk about an early adopter!

Or do you mean lonely adopter? I have yet to see one of those things on sale anywhere.

  4. After they got organized, things went really quickly. I didn't get the limited edition, but the regular copy. I played for two hours that night when I should have gone right to bed. lol

I think you made it longer than me...I messed with it for maybe 20 minutes and went to bed. I must be getting old. For Halo 1 I played 14 hours straight as soon as I unpacked my original XBox.

I also have an urgent project that needs completing, so my 360 is sitting in its box in my bedroom untouched.

  5. In case anyone is interested, I just returned from Target, where I got to play with the demo system. (PGR3 = cool, King Kong = I bought a 360 for this?)

Anyway he tells me that they got 40 units, 20 full and 20 core, and they're taking the first 40 people in line at 5a on Tuesday. This is in Ellicott City, MD. He has no idea how many more they'll get before the end of the year.

  6. All the industry figures point to not a whole lot of units between now and March since apparently Microsoft wants to share the love with Japan and Europe. Good luck to anyone at scoring more than one.

At my GameStop they're handing out pre-orders first come, first-served and apparently I'm one of the last in on the first shipment (reserved May 22). I didn't preorder any bundle or anything, just the M$ kit with the HD. I did go back a few weeks ago and preorder a few games, an extra controller and the play and charge kit.

I am rather happy that I can pick it up during normal business hours rather than wait out in the cold at midnight. I preordered in a nice, warm mall but then they decided to have an "event" outdoors at a different nearby store.

  7. Is it too late to jump in before this degrades completely? I suppose whether you want one does depend on what you like. I would say thumbs down because:

    1) I hate the controller.

    2) While the system seems pretty durable the controllers seem to break pretty regularly.

    3) Maybe only the expensive rare games are any good but all the games I have I really don't enjoy. This includes 007 and Perfect Dark, and generally I like 1st person games. But I don't think the N64 is really up to it, and the sucky controller takes away even more.

    4) You can get way more bang for your buck on other systems like Genesis or even GBA. Heck I would get a Vectrex ahead of an N64.

  8. I can recommend a Genesis and kids games. The things are indestructible and basically disposable. The games cost $2-$5 and can be found by the armload. The only problem I have with them is that a lot of the kid friendly games really suck. My kids like:

    Anything with Sonic in it

    Mighty Max

    Loony Toons Arena

    Hang On

Probably a few more, I haven't been paying attention as much as I should lately.

They also really dig Pico but I suspect they're growing out of it. They do love the two Sonic and Tails titles on Pico.

  9. You pay shipping, unless you want to pick it up near Columbia, MD or at VGX on Saturday...take one or all, first come first served:

"How to Write Macintosh Software: The Debugging Reference for Macintosh", Scott Knaster, 1988

"ResEdit Complete", Peter Alley and Carolyn Strange, 1991

"Macintosh C Programming Primer: Vol 2, Mastering the Toolbox Using THINK C", Dave Mark, 1990

    "Inside Macintosh: Volume 1", 1985

    "Inside Macintosh: Volume 2", 1985

Cleaning out the basement is fun...I look like I'm still wearing a Halloween costume since I'm all covered in dust and cobwebs.

  10. I don't know about the duration of the show, since I'm only planning on being there Saturday, but I could bring up a TV for you to use for as long as I'm there. I have to make sure it still works, it's been in the garage for a year. Let me know, PM would probably be best.

  11. Much more limited pickings in Columbia, MD. Nothing for the DS, very little for the GBA and Xbx. I picked up Activision Classics PS2 for $1, some Game.com fighter for $1, and two kids DVDs for $0.50 that probably should have been in a different bin.

Yes, that is Game.com, you heard right. It was found stuffed in the back of a drawer.
