  1. I just picked up a whole bunch of C64 stuff cheap at a yard sale as well, but I'm not really into it, so potentially I could trade/sell anything here. Make an offer by PM: (Edit: items sold pending payment have been marked *HOLD*, everything unmarked still available -- 30 Jun 2004) *HOLD* Bubble Bobble, largish heavy stock color flat folder thing, no instructions Arkanoid, same packing as above, instructions Commando BI, a bit squashed *HOLD* Advanced D&D Pool of Radiance, lots of disks and books, nice box Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom, generic Data East box (maybe missing slipcover?), disk and instructions Battle Chess, complete, nice box, instructions rough Stocker, complete & nice Karateka "flippy" (Atari & Commodore) complete *HOLD* Skate Rock appears complete, box a bit squashed Blockbuster complete and pretty nice *HOLD* Might & Magic II complete & nice *HOLD* Times of Lore, complete and nice (hey, there's a map in here!) Bionic Commando complete and almost nice, label on floppy ripped *HOLD* Champioship Wrestling, complete and almost nice (a little squashed) Serpentine w/instructions Road Runner w/instructions Jumpan w/instructions Sinbad w/instructions and map (disk says "reel 1", should there be more?) Baal w/instruct Temple of Apshai w/instruct Telengard w/instruct *HOLD* Paperboy w/instruct Gauntlet w/instruct The Quest w/instruct Hard Hat Mack *HOLD* Castle Wolfenstein Ultima II (1 program master/2 x player master disk, player guide by bobbit 2 cards) C64 console 1541 drive Note that everything looks to be in decent shape but I haven't tested any of it. Not sure if the computer and drive even work and I decided to spend my video game time working on my Lynx game rather than testing the "new" system. Eric

PM if interested...probably posting the list in a fresh thread momentarily, so as not to hijack this one completely. Eric
  3. New version, still unplayable, up to 2.8K (before I start to strip stuff out of the runtime library). Particles and paddles move, and now the last visual game elements are in place. There are three meters on the right, one each for current charge, round time and round number. The three meters work. Every time a particle gets past a paddle (which is all the time since collision detection isn't in yet) the charge meter increases relative to the weight of the particle (the brighter the particle, the heavier the charge). The charge meter gradually dissipates on its own. The round time counter simply counts up to the end of the round. When it reaches the end it resets to zero and bumps up the round counter. At some point I'll put some kind of break between rounds. Also the game will progressively get harder at each round. In the final minigame version the score will just be how far you got, basically a combination of the round time and counter progress. Basically the Lynx doesn't have digit bitmaps built in and I don't want to include them in my program to save space, so there won't be a numeric score. Also when the charge meter maxes, for now it just resets. Eventually this will be the end of the game. That's all for now. Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to start working on paddle sizing and/or collission detection and/or more advanced control of the particle speed for game and level balancing. Let me know if anyone has any comments. Oh yeah, props to Ben "Le Geek" L for the small meter graphics. Eric cf.zip
  4. How about just creating a version of A7800 that can run on an ARM or something like that? Essentially release something akin to a 7800 emulator on a GBA with a cart port. Eric
  5. If the price was reasonable I'd have to own one. It would be cool if they eliminated the encryption key, even though it has been broken, and maybe make a few nods to homebrewers (which might be tough to do with an eye on the price). I would think this project wouldn't be prohibitive for someone who is really determined and doesn't expect to make a lot of money. For compatibility I suppose the 6502 emulator and TIA emulator would have to be spot on for timing to make sure games work right, but I imagine you could have some flexibility with the Maria emulator provided the emulation at least exceeded the original (which shouldn't be too difficult, honestly). Eric
  6. OK, I'm going to try to pull together enough time to do this. I'm a bit of an attention hound and wasn't getting much interest in the minigame thread so I thought I'd hunt for feedback here. Attached is the current effort. Basically this game is called "ChargeField" and the goal is to prevent the charges from the center from reaching the outside and charging up the field. Right now the game is functioning, just the basic animation, and even that will need to be balanced once the game logic is in place. There will be as much to it as I can fit in 4K, I have ideas. Also if it works out I might make a full version that could go on a cartridge. Expect slow progress. In addition to a heavy personal schedule, this thing is 100% assembler. Feedback welcome. 7. They're both different and good. But I like Chips first. Eric
  8. Some of us like to collect and play. If there is a different between using MAME and a real 7800, certainly there is at least some tactile difference in handling a drawful of cartridges. Eric
  9. If I remember correctly, though, the left and right buttons are reversed out of the box. Easy enough to fix, though. Eric
  10. This came from the New York Times...since no one wants to register for free and read the articles, I thought I would just post the link this time. http://www.littlefluffy.com Eric
  11. Seeking to trade for a worm light or similar device for GBA. I figure most of you have upgraded and no longer need your lights. I don't like my GBA enough to buy an SP, but I do want to use it in less than blaring outdoors sun. Anyone? Tell me what general kinds of things you would be interested in trade. Eric
  12. Water Ski actually isn't bad. Not as horrible as all that. That said I doubt I've played it in the last 1000 days. Eric
  13. OK, well, someone better get ready to be a Lynx sponsor. The attachment is actually further along than it looks, I'm up to 2K and don't think I'll have any trouble squeezing the game into 4k. Yes, I know I still have another Lynx game to finish...I ran out of time running a small company, which I'm bailing out of, and trying to make up for lost time here. On Break I got to the point where I need to move to assembly for at least some of the work, so I figured the Minigame would be a good way to get up to speed. Actually I think this game will actually be decent and might be worth expanding into a non-Mini game. But time will tell. Anyhow, for right now I'll just be cagy about where I'm going with this. I'll put up instructions after the game is playable and complete, but I'm curious to see if anyone can figure it out before that. Eric cf.zip
  14. So is there a Lynx sponsor or what? I shouldn't even look at anything that has to do with another programming projects, got too many going on. On the other hand my 6502 could use a little practice. Eric
  15. My trash is your treasure... One Mattel Brain Baffler with manual, battery cover, good sticker on back, but it doesn't work. When you put a battery in it the battery gets really hot. Can you fix it? Dunno, I don't fix stuff. At the very least you get the manual and the battery cover. Free to good home, you pay shipping. This is a repost, sorry to everyone who didn't get it last time. I know shipping to Canada would be about $4.50, US would be less. Eric
  16. So, who wants to port Handy to PalmOS? Eric
  17. Oh man, a new use for the Minolta color laser at one of my clients.
  18. I actually like this game, although truthfully I guess you would call it a forgotten title, since I haven't picked it up in awhile for no particular reason. There is a lot of depth to the power ups and many areas that I think add to the attraction. Eric
  19. Funny you should mention Wavy Navy... I used to love this game. I might actually have a poster from this game around somewhere. I already have a Lynx homebrew project on hold, on account of being involved in a startup company taking all my time. But damn this would be an easy Lynx game to do. And it really is a lot of fun. I'm inherently lazy, can anyone give me a link to the Atari 8bit version of this game under emulation? Eric
  20. I think the deal with these was that when a company makes sample/test units they use whatever plastic they have laying around in the molds since its cheapest. If I remember correctly they had both the blue and pink Lynxes at CGE last time I was there (2000). Eric
  21. So in general how do you tell the difference? Sticker on the bottom? Are the units functionally different? Extra fire button? Eric
  22. I would guess economy has something to do with it. The video game collection would not be a bad way to raise at least a little money if you need it relatively quickly. Also changing priorities in a number of ways. A lot of the people coming into collecting are younger and grew up with Nintendo and Sega, so that's their soft spots, that's what they're into now. And a number of people I know are taking advantage of low interest rates and levelling house prices to buy a house, which means some seriously curtailed collecting budgets. Eric
  23. Only a Black Widow, and it isn't working right now. Not like I have time to play it anyway. Eric
  24. I'm still skeptical. I keep thinking PSX...Too little system, too much money.
  25. Shanghai loose $2 plus actual shipping Eric
