Doesn't even have to be a problem. I'm updating an app I haven't touched in almost 2 years, putting in some stuff I didn't have time to do back then. Goes like this... Get up Stretch Make Coffee Pour Coffee In Insulated Cup Take To Keyboard Start Coding 90 Minutes Later Remember Cold Coffee or more like 90 Minutes Later Knock Over Forgotten Cup Of Cold Coffee Eric

I hate to give away tricks but enough people already know about this one anyway...yesterday I saw an auction of a lot with Coconuts (on your list) on www.shopgoodwill.com in a lot that at least for now is pretty cheap. Eric

It can't be that bad...the application for show only passes (the free ones) only needs 2 kinds of IDs...too bad I waited until the last minute, I coulda made some IDs pretty quickly (thanks to the really cool Minolta color laser that one of my customers doesn't mind me using once in awhile). Anyone? I make a good guest...I'm polite and I try to leave the place cleaner than I found it. Eric

Volvo's new "video game" car commercial
eric_ruck replied to figgler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Definitely need more Swedish cards in video games. Eric (Saab owner and fan) -
Can any of you gaming industry folks score me a guest pass or two for E3? I'm going to be in LA blocks from the Staples Center during the event, it would be a shame not to swing by. Please PM if you can... Thanks, Eric

Thinking of selling my Game Gear stuff
eric_ruck replied to shining slade's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Willing to take trades? Problem with Game Gear is that you can still score brand new ones for $30. Eric -
How good are you at racing titles?
eric_ruck replied to KaineMaxwell's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I like realistic racing games, or at least semi-realistic. Project Gotham Racing is still one of my favorites, although I have yet to beat the Ferrari one on one (although I came within about 2 seconds once). Sega GT on XBox is too easy. I guess you would say I'm good at the ones I like. Eric -
NYT Article About Movie Producers and Studios Getting Into Video Games JavaScript and free registration required to read, no whining, if you don't want to turn on JavaScript and register, then don't read it... Now for the reason to post this link... Time Warner is talking about starting a brand new studio and conquering video games using their portfolio of movies, possibly creating a studio as large as Electronic Arts (their comparison). Like they've never been involved in video games before. Now that Warner is talking like that, I'm positive another industry crash is around the corner. Eric

They had the wrap things at, oh, I think GameStop in Columbia, MD on the clearance rack for something like $1.25. They only had one design though and I thought it looked stupid. I was actually going to buy one to decorate my business partner's XBox while he was out but there was actually a line at the store and I didn't feel like waiting. Eric

Holy, like, wow. I am totally impressed with Vexx.
eric_ruck replied to Jasoco's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I just bought it at KMart on Friday and tried it out last night. Observations: 1) This game is really fun, and there's a lot to it. I only played it for a two hours, managed to open the second level in the portal and quit for the evening. I like the fact that the levels are huge and there's a lot of different things to do in them. 2) There are some glitches but for the most part they don't impact the game. Some places camera adjustment just plain stops working sometimes, and once or twice Vexx kinda just got stuck. 3) Did I mention fun? Juggling enemies, messing with the sundials, swimming... 4) As of Friday the KMart where I went still had 3-4 copies left for $10 (Ellicott City, MD) Eric -
I think it's a fair system. While I love my Vectrex I wouldn't recommend it for everyone...you have to really like video game curiosities to invest in a system that takes up a lot of real estate in your house and really only has a few games that I genuinely return to regularly. On the other hand, the Lynx has a great library, most of which is available inexpensively, and still has some attributes that gives it a leg up over the Gameboy SP, most noteably that it's large enough for adult hands to use comfortably. A fantastic library of classic games as well as a few really good original games makes it entirely worthwhile, even for people for whom video game collecting is not a sickness. Eric

Er, can someone enlighten me into how this is affected by different versions of the 7800? I don't play a lot of 2600 games but I know the 7800 I have hooked up plays 2600 Dark Chambers fine. Eric

I kinda like TM, that said I haven't actually played it in years. But last time I played it I liked it. I guess it does have replay value issues...it's not something you'll spend weeks with, more like an hour here and there when you have time and want something different. Eric

I have a Raggedy Ann calculator from the 70's but I have to see if my kids want it first. It's actually brand new, still in the box...I remember my mother bought it from a Toy Store when they were going out of business and put it away for a rainy day. Basically it wound up in a box in my basement. If you're interested send me an e-mail reminding me to check next week, I'm out of town on a business trip. I think I might also have an old TI LED calculator around somewhere, and a giant readout scientific calculator. And a Sharp Wizard from the early 90's if you're into it. Eric

You're lucky, I was at the closest blockbuster yesterday and they had nothing worthwhile, and nothing cheap. Maybe I'll give one or two others a try, for no obvious reasons there are 3 blockbusters within 5 miles of my house. Eric

Yeah, I don't use it primarly for for 2600 or anything because for the most part I like the 7800 games better, but when I do play 2600 games I pop 'em in the 7800...I have a bunch of 2600's by they're not hooked up often. Eric

I'd use an adapter...I don't think my MasterPlay has been unplugged since it came home. Eric

What are you playing? (week of March 21 - March 27)
eric_ruck replied to Adrian M's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Busy work week means stealing time on the handhelds. Stunt Car Extreme (Tapwave) and replaying Metal Slug 1 (NGPC). Eric -
In terms of the marketplace, the 7800 didn't really have a defining game, part of its marketing problems...I would guess PP2 would be the closest. For me it would have to be the classic arcade ports, including excellent versions of Asteroids, Joust, Food Fight and Commando. Eric

15 Classics For 50 Bucks - Worthwhile?
eric_ruck replied to PaleGreen's topic in Classic Console Discussion
For a lot of the DC games I'd say no. The sports games are commonly available at the Mall for around $2-ish. Eric -
How about if the entire collection is still new and shrinkwrapped?

Trade game snow? I don't have any snow, it all melted? I guess I'll check out the site anyway. Eric

I can't remember whether I replied...I have Activision Checkers but I'm not really interested in any of the 2600 carts in trade...I don't collect 2600 carts. Got anything else? (Respond PM or e-mail please) Eric

Oh man, I have tons of the "extra" video game related stuff. One of my favorites is still the Atari baseball bat, I think part of a promotion at a baseball stadium somewhere. Eric
