  1. You can also like assembly modules to C modules. Depending on the size and speed needs of your game I'd do as much as possible in C, unless you happen to have a whole lot of time on your hands. Especially if you're new to programming, I think you would have a better change of success if you at least start with C so you can begin to see results as your game takes shape. The C compiler produces assembler output as an intermediate format. You can also use that intermediate output as a starting point for assembly language -- even though the output is way less than optimal, you can always pick through and improve the parts that need it. 2. Uh oh, unique packaging error, maybe you should sell it on eBay as such! Eric
  3. Man, I need to sell some more stuff on eBay. But the question is, are these examples of the rule or the exception? I would guess exception. Who here has tried to sell something unusual and gotten no real response? I can't say I've sold anything horribly unusual on eBay yet...I guess there was the Six Million Dollar Man snap together model, half assembled, for something like $6. About $5.50 more than I figured it would fetch, but I hated to just throw it away and I have no time for a yard sale. Oh yeah, I just remembered, something like $50 for this set of Star Wars cards that were free from Pop Tarts or something when I was a kid...it came with a holder that you had to send away for. I have zero interest in Star Wars so when I found it in a box, eBay here I come! But that really doesn't strike me as wierd, considering the crap I buy off eBay...I think calling that wierd, or jeans or an old magazine, would be the pot calling the kettle black, when the pot paid $5 to ship a few sheets of video game related stickers on more than one occassion. But I was young and foolish then Eric
  4. 5200 is definitely the easiest. Also I would include the Lynx on that list since it is 6502-based. Also the Lynx is very easy to program. Eric
  5. Not sure if this is helpful, but the Software Etc/Gamestop at the Country Club Mall in LaVale, MD has a huge selection of used Nintedo games, NES and later. Unfortunately I was out that way camping and don't plan on retracing the 2.5 hour drive out there anytime soon. But if anyone is in the vecinity and interested, I thought they should know. Also they had a bunch of DC Shenmu II imports for no obvious reason. Eric
  6. Ah, shipping and handling, the bane of the vintage game collector. Sure, you won a working 5200 console for $5, but it costs $25 to ship it. Or $3.85 to ship that $0.50 cart. Oh well, the crosses we bear... Eric
  7. Some of us out there like the extra "stuff" that you don't actually plug into something. I have a decent collection of stickers, mugs, buttons, an Atari baseball bat, etc. Eric
  8. I did, that's how I got my PS2 on launch day. Eric
  9. I think a game named "Dung Beetles", Atari 800, Pac-Man style clone said "We Gotcha" when you got caught. Eric
  10. And this story's not even made up. Yes, you do have to register for free and have JavaScript turned on: NYT XBox Hack Eric
  11. Got a Jaguar on launch day, which was decidedly low key. Also scored a PS2 on launch day by going to Sears, where there was no line. Of course it was defective out of the box. Got an XBox on launch day because I knew the manager of the local Circuit City. I played show and tell with the external PS2 hard drive from the company where I worked at the time, and he set one aside for me. Eric
  12. Um, I don't know. But my CA guy tells me it is on the way to Santa Ana, where we have a customer. I've only had the pleasure of driving around LA once so when I'm there this fall it'll be a new experience for me to really get it. Eric
  13. You definitely wanna lay out for a Vectrex and a multicart. There's nothing like playing games on a real Vectrex monitor, buzz and everything. Also springy analog sticks. Eric
  14. OK, I'm from the Right Coast but I'm in S. CA a lot on business. In particular downtown LA, but over the next few months I'll be ranging between L.A. and San Diego. Um, not knowing my way around real well, any way I can make Fullerton on my way? Eric
  15. I was wondering if anyone else found these? I scored a Sonic Grind for $1 over the cost of a Crispy Bacon salad (surprisingly good for McD's). Eric
  16. You made a good trade, in my opinion. I regret not trading my PS2 away long ago but I have the collecting bug so basically I keep everything. But I think the last time my PS2 was turned on was Thanksgiving, when a friend who came over wanted to play, oh, I don't even remember. I've been disappointed with the thing from day one to day last. Even when I had a job developing for it . Eric
  17. Just saw it during Keen Eddie last night. Awesome commercial, probably targetted squarely at me. Which is too bad, since if I'm planning on having a midlife crisis I want something a lot smaller than an H2. Eric
  18. If you're breaking things up, one of the Atari computers wouldn't happen to be a 1200XL, would it? Eric
  19. Yeah, the thing about ST models was that they were actually successful for a few years, so there are a lot of castoffs around. At the time the ST was really not worth much, was taking up valuable space, and I woulda bought a Jaguar anyway, might as well have saved the money. David only made the trade because he was hosting a swap meet the next day and was sure he could unload the stuff for at least his cost on the Jaguar. And it was definitely worth it, since years later I bought a 1040 ST for my collection with a hard drive for way less than the cost of a Jaguar, and shipping was still 2/3 of the price. Eric
  20. PM me...not sure what mine is worth. System works perfectly except that the screen is skewed more than twiddling the knobs inside will fix. Cassiden Nolen took a quick stab at diagnosing it and really didn't come up with anything except maybe a bad cap somewhere. I'm not complaining because of what I got with it when I bought it (3d goggles and a bunch of games including Poll Position and Polar Rescue, all CIB). Eric
  21. I actually like Trevor McFur...I got it when I got my Jaguar, actually traded my old Mega 2 ST for it with David Troy of Toad. Probably a fair deal since the ST hadn't been turned on for years at that point. Calling the helper in TM is kinda neat. Of course it doesn't hold a candle to Raiden. And you really need to score an autofire controller to play it well. Eric
  22. Thanks...I noticed that it doesn't seem to matter which controller type, whether you're pressing anything or nothing, and, as indicated in the other thread, sometimes it will start with the controller plugged in. Interesting. Eric
  23. I kinda like Aircars, they released worse on the Jag...much worse. Eric
  24. Hyperforce is my fave...I have all but Soccer Kid. Eric
