I have 520STM ("short ST") with a few amateur hardware extensions, including hardware overscan - it would be great if you could test your ideas against latest versions of Steem, which allow emulation of 2 types of hw overscan - LaceScan and AutoSwitch on ST/F/M. Actually there are more types of this hack "in the wild", I have one for instance which is (de)activated via YM2149 I/O port A (#14)'s bit 7, and I have preserved by miracle two assembly routines - to switch it on or off, nothing more.
I mention this, because the hardware overscans should allow to do the same as software overscan - sync scrolling:

manipulating their "on/off" state should allow to do hardware scrolling with word precision on ST/F/M. Haven't tried it yet, I was happy to find out that my old ST is still working, and the overscan works too. I doubt Steem would emulate that, not yet.

To add that in my improved TOS, with option to force AES AUTO run, dialog appears when both are in AUTO folder.
Not bad PRG, that ANTIBOMB, and I never heard about. Too bad that I got used on Steem Debugger 🎃
Just to update link (outdated now) to ST Review coverdisk archives, currently here:

Thank you for great food for thought! I've always avoided TOS as much as possible (yes, unclear and missing docs weighed in), but I had to - at some point - not to rewrite a lot of basic functions. Your input on AUTO specifics is very valuable - thank you again.

Crossover to C64 is very interesting, it could allow a wider audience and multi-platform cooperation.
Is the entire http://freeweb.siol.net/ subdomain down? I get timeouts constantly, while https://siol.net/ is working.
