The official 4 switch woody serial number thread.
RyboFlavin replied to Nutsy Doodleheimer's topic in Atari 2600
Several weeks ago I got the bug to restore my old 4 switchers and found this thread while searching for various info and I thought I would post my serial numbers. I've had both of these units since they were purchased new in the early 1980's. One of them was still in playable working condition, but the other one stopped working in the mid 1980's and had been sitting in a box ever since then. Serial: 568176918 Rev 14 board This unit stopped working (black screen only) in the mid 1980's and was in storage ever since. I installed a refresh kit from console5.com and an eBay replacement Via chip and it is working once again. It already had the 820 Ohm resistor on the bottom of the board. Serial: 811823009 Rev 14 board There is a date of April 7, 1982 printed on the RF shield paperwork. This has been playable in my possession since new and was never opened until I took these photos. There is no 820 Ohm resistor on the bottom of the board. In comparison to the other unit, I notice that there are resistors in the same location as there were ceramic capacitors. For example, near the controller ports. It's interesting that this unit appears to be newer than the other unit and has a higher serial number, but it didn't have the 820 Ohm resistor installed. -
