  1. No software is required when using EmuTOS. Alt-RAM and RTC (if connected) are detected and used automatically. You can verify this by looking at the boot screen.

For TOS 2.06 and MagiC driver programs are needed that should preferably be placed in your AUTO folder:

    • ALTRAMON.PRG adds the alternate RAM to TOS memory management. From then on, this memory is automatically used by TOS and (most) applications.
    • RTC_TIME.PRG synchronizes the computer’s clock with the RTC and makes TOS 2.06 Y2K-compatible.

Note: Under EmuTOS or after running RTC_TIME.PRG under Atari TOS, you can set the RTC using any program that changes date and time, such as the control panel. However, RTC_SET.PRG is also provided as a separate program to set the RTC.

    Tools and drivers.

More here about STorm on ST.

... So, first problem - the name. Why ACSI2STM - that does not make sense. Every STM has ACSI port, so it is actually something like ACSI2ACSI .  It has SD card socket, uses SD cards, so that should be in name. Suggestion:  something like ASTtoSD (since ACSI2SD is used already) ...

It's called that because they uses a STM32 chip on it I think.

What's the chances of a diagnostic cartridge running?

Really high it will run fine. But I don't think it will show much though. You already know that floppy isn't working. So maybe pull up resistors on the 8 data lines on the DMA or WD1772 could help.

Otherwise check WD1772, DMA and a 74LS06 that is part of the floppy circuit. Ribbon cable for the floppy of course. Check continuity on each leg with schematics. You should clean the legs on the chips with IPA or deoxit in the sockets when you reseat them.

    Schematics here.

I ordered "Crackers", I think it was in January.

    So almost 2 months now...

Anyone else got their order in?

I just got a mail from them thru Indiegogo and the book is being printed at the moment. The goodies stuff is also being produced at the moment but not yet finished.

I made my contribution in May, 2020 so, yes, it's been a while. But, back then the estimated delivery was feb 2021.

What I find quite odd is price difference of:

    Mega STe 1

    and

    Mega STe 2

it is 250£ !! (Difference is only 1MB more RAM, right?)

Then in same ad you see that 4MB RAM for STe cost as low as 139£?!?!!

Bigger difference between 2 and 4 Mb Mega STe. Could have bought a Mega STe 1 and then bought 4Mb ram for a STe and pop in.

I still have to finish build this, currently I have a 1Gb SCSI hard drive on an ICD interface, with ICD Pro, can anyone tell

me what the partition sizes need/can be, my hard drive was formatted when I had my original 520STM with the older TOS,

I think 32Mb Partitions, but want to use this device on my STE with upgraded TOS 2.06 and am not sure what the limits for partition size are.

     Up to 256MB for TOS < 1.04

     Up to 512MB for TOS ≥ 1.04

     Up to 2GB for TOS ≥ 4.x (Falcon)

    EDIT: Source

  7. ScummVM need some powerful machine. Like Falcon with CT60e.

ScummVM Lite only has four games working since each game has it own *.prg and all graphics is converted for 16 colors and very optimized. Many things are also stripped from ScummVM since it is not needed for these four games. And I think Agranlund choose these four specifically for a reason. Some of these four games works relative fine on a normal 8 MHz machine.

You also need the files from PC talkie version. Some version has converted sound to *.OGG, packed data and will not work. Some version only have music.

  8. The computer will start without it. It is pulled high (+5V) normally without the reset button according to schematics.

Then short pin 2 and 3 to reset the computer. Should be the middle pin (common) and the right pin (towards all the resistors). There is also two offset pins but that is just for stability.

Or just solder a wire to the middle hole and short that wire to ground when you want to do a reset. Like the outer rim/ground plane that the shielding connects to.

  9. If you didn't want to spent a lot of money... why buy an Ultra Satan in the first place? The disk you already had could be played on the original floppy disk drive. Downloaded .ST files would be easiest (IMHO) just to transfer to a USB stick and run thru a Gotek drive. Cheaper then transfer to Ultra Satan and then write to a floppy.

Lots of ways of doing this of course. Nothing is the 'right way' of doing things. As Ijor said, depending on how much you want to spend, simplicity and how you want to keep things true to original feeling of your childhood I suppose.

We merely provide info and you decide for your self. But if one doesn't know what everything is or means, you are going to drown in to much info.
