I discovered 4 interesting games: mines of mars, sweet home, ocean city and robocop
Can we have a picture of Robocop?
-
I would also like to see Splendour (not on the list) by Bomb to see the light of day.

Title says it all. Which "rumor mill" or known-to-exist prototypes would YOU like to see released or found? Here's my list, sorry if it's a bit long:
9 to 5
Patton
Six Pack (20th Century Fox)
Count's Castle
Super Pac-Man
Sylvester and Tweety (Atari)
Keystone Kapers II (Activision)
Mission Omega (Commavid)
Smokey the Bear
The Ice Cream Game
The Mad Conductor (Data Age)
Family Feud
Jeopardy! (Great Game Co.)
Around the World
Bird Power
Magic Carpet
Polo Game
Sharp Wold (Home Vision)
Fire! (Palmer)
Conservation: The Watt Way
Shuttle Rescue (Panda)
"bear game" (Sega)
Drive 'Em Krazy
Eagle Mountain
Glactic Tactic
Time Scape (Spectravision)
Flipper
Formula 1
Laser Raid
Locomotive
Moon Base
Mouse Highway
Shoot Out
Silly Safari
Tachyon Beam (all Technovision)
Changes
Intuition
Scraper Caper (Tigervision)
Dazzler
Home Improvement
Leperchaun
Pirate's Treasure
Tugboat (Unitronics)
Cake Bake
Conrad
Dinograms
Evac
Moving Day
Tally Ho (ZiMAG)
Out of all of them Sylvester & Tweety is a new one on me. As for the Homevision games the belief is that they were all released by other companies under a variety of names but until the originals turn up it is just a theory. Out of the rest I would love to see Zimags Tally Ho make an appearance.

Yep, a lot of vaporware.
BTW: some of these titles were released under a different name and a lot of these were in development, but never finished.
Noah & The Ark from Sunrise is a new title for me. This one had not anything to do with Enter-Tech´s Arkyology, right?
Yes a lot of vaporware but once upon a time it was all vaporware and now several of them have surfaced in some form or another. I still cling to the belief that one day the majority will surface with only a handful on that list remaining as non starters.

You are correct. I state as much toward the bottom of the article.
Apologies, must have missed that part
-
Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't the game also shown in the film Piranha with the female lead seen playing it?
-
I try not to read your posts, so I was not talking to you.
Very mature I am sure.
-
You know I never had an issue with the game at time of release. In truth I envied my friend who got it for his birthday. Yes with hindsight you could argue that Atari could have done a better job but as a kid of 10 years old I enjoyed playing it as did all my friends for there was little in the way of choice as in my town arcades had an age limit of 16 to get in and trips to the seaside where you could enter arcades were few and far between. Added to this I think Atari did a better job of Pac Man than Parker Bros did with Amidar.

I don't believe in these reasons. Except for being afraid that the ROM (whatever quality it has, AFAIK collectors usually don't care much) becomes public. I am no collector, but I understand that some believe (or know) that a ROM release will devalue their prototype.
IMO you can't blame them for protecting their property.
Again I defer to you for you argument has merit. When I 1st became aware of the so called Holy Grail prototypes I will be the 1st to admit that I was more than a little annoyed at those that hoarded them but 20 years on my perception and understanding has changed considerably and I agree with you that some will want to protect their property at all costs, fair enough. Guess I am just lucky that I have either managed to play a lot of these games or at the very least have read reviews, seen pics or in the case of Hard Head watched full motion videos. But as I said a lot of these untouchables are not a great deal of fun to play but until someone plays them the majority of people will never understand that.
-
Why, because you demand someone else will?
Why are you always so angry? Have you even read my posts??? I think not. I never used the word demand nor have I used any terms saying that this must happen? I notice you always react this way to something you dont like and often wondered why? Also let me state this, I have no desire to play this game for reasons of my own. I was merely saying aloud a possible, viable idea open to discussion. I am sorry you took exception to it.
-
I like the idea, but I doubt as an owner of a prototype I would be really interested into doing that.
IMO this might only work if someone else would do all the work required. So that it is just minimal effort for the owner and he also can be 100% sure that the ROM cannot be grabbed somehow this way. IMO the latter is the most critical point and I cannot see how this can be assured.
Totally agree with you Thomas. Paranoia over the rom becomming public is the hardest point of contention. Another point would be the possibility that once people play any hoarded prototype and realise how bad it was or how little enjoyment came from playing it then the desire to pay massive $$$$ to own it would swiftly evaporate thus devaluing it. Either way it is a real shame for it would stop a lot of people harrassing those who own the games to release them.
-
Look, there are 3 or 4 of these in collectors hands, track down one of them, pay thousands for it and do whatever you like with it. End of story.
Again using that age old argument. You dont need to spend thousands. In fact the opposite for the owner gets all the money for people would pay the site to play the game which never leaves the site and would not be able to be downloaded. I dont understand why you get all upset about this for I was not asking you to do anything, just floating an idea.
-
So there are several people with the/a cart and the ROMs but no one is sharing it? Oookay.
The way I suggested is the best way but whether anyone goes along with it is anyone's guess.
-
Well that's enough of that. Back on topic pleez...
Now my last reply has been deleted yes lets get back on track. What about my idea?
-
You know what? I had a great idea. Why not set up a site where you could play the rom say for a dollar a time on a reputable web site such as Atarimania or Tempest's site but you could only play it, not download it and then the owner gets a viable income, all the curious players get to see what the fuss is about but the rom stays out of circulation. To me that makes perfect sense. Lets see what everyone else thinks?

They been kept zip lock bags in a box , there were about 40 boxed 2600 games, few sealed and about 20 loose 7800 games, The Food Fight Game 7800 is marked Prototype embedded in the back , what I need is help pricing these thanks
I will say it before any one else does. Pics would help a lot.

Most homebrew authors only work on games, specifically to piss you off. I thought everyone knew that.
There is always someone who has to go directly for the Juggler, right CPUWIZ?
-
LOL
Commies vs Speccies.
I was a die hard Commie back in the 80s.
Even programmed some games for it.
Spectrums were laughable, and Speccies defending their machine with its crappy looking games and silly sounding bleeps even more.
'Oversized chocolate bars' we used to call them.
They were a vast step up from the ZX81 though, my 1st ever computer
-
One he bought with his own money.
Ah thanks for clearing that up. Always wondered about that.
-
Not that I know of, Todd didn't play on a prototype either, as his original score was done on his own personal cart.
I like to think another version of the game exists, but that's hard to say. Most people think it is unlikely, but no one
seems to know for sure
Personal cart? You mean one he bought with his own money or one created for him by Activision?
-
Dont know if this has been discussed before or not but has anyone anyalised a prototype of Dragster?
-
My neighbour and I, we had the C64/fdd (well, I had an C128/fdd), and the guy below had a Speccy. We always laughed at him.
Mostly the Spectrum was the system of price, not choice.
True, for at school the rich kids all had C64's while the rest had Speccy's. I was the exception for I preferred my 800XL.
-
UKs most famous, and they were proud of it. Most awful "computer" I've ever encountered. Sinclair did stuff which never worked and got an OBE for it. Go figure.
It was the system of choice at the time in the UK and went head to head with the C64. To this day I still have friends who will defend the original Spectrum and its wonderful merits although personally I always favoured the C64.
