Ideally you want a deck with line out so you can connect it to line in on a computer and record the signal. There may be a bit of adjusting the signal levels, inverting the recorded sound etc in order to convert it properly to a TAP, T64 etc in the end.

Is it this game you are thinking of?

    Oh, cool. Thanks!

Then I suppose I am just trying to recover my own programs 🙂

  2. Bought a new addition to my classic computer collection, the requisite Commodore 64. It appears to be almost fully functional, boots and BASIC is there. However it refuses to boot with a cartridge inserted. Anyone encountered this problem before? My initial guess is stress on the connector cracked the solder connections over the years of inserting and removing cartridges.

Would you like to modify your console? It's beginner level soldering. Read about fixing the alpha lock problem once and for all by adding a diode (follow link on that thread to MainByte article).

Interesting. Maybe once I get my electronics bench outfitted and pickup an untested console for modification. Otherwise I want to keep my console as original as possible.

  4. Have a joystick adapter and two modern Atari joysticks from a Flashback. Powered up my TI today and the up direction does not work, tried both sticks on both ports. Any tips on testing the adapter and the console? Any common cap or resistor failure that I can check for? Thanks.

  5. Anyone have a link to where to buy the correct power adapter for the nanoPEB? So happy I got one when they briefly appeared on Ebay last week, now need to power it up! :-)

    I checked the manual PDF:

    -----------

nanoPEB-SIO is designed to plug into the console’s expansion port but requires
an external power supply of 5 volts. The connector is 2.1mm and center pole is
positive. The power supply MUST be regulated.

    -----------

But not listing the AMP rating, I want to be sure I get the correct power supply.
