  1. Still waiting for a photo. I just called my Mom to look for the photo we had of Grandma playing Atari while smoking. I'll scan it and post it if I can find it. She used to get so into Super Breakout that she'd let the cigarette burn all the way down to the filter. I learned my first real swear words from her that way. "S-O-A-B!" :D The other thing I did was taunt my uncle when he'd play our Atari. He got first crack at the games since he usually bought them. He'd have his mouth wide open while concentrating, so my brother and I would try to shoot M&M's or popcorn into it from the stairs next to the TV. All he'd do is blink and mouth "quit it guys" while playing Video Pinball. Yes...we were lucky that our first Atari survived as long as it did... Voch
  2. That stinks, I'm sorry to hear about that man. Actually, Grandma LOVED Atari. But she also LOVED smoking. I have a stack of Ataris now (6-switch, 4-switch, Junior, Gemini, and a ColecoVision Module #1...still want a Vader and an Intellivision adapter) so it's no big deal. Voch
  3. My original Atari 2600 died an early death back in the mid 80's thanks to my grandmother's need to smoke while playing and accidentially using it as an ashtray on more than one occasion. Later we had an Atari 7800 (my only 7800-specific game the pack-in Pole Position) but my Mom sold that at a yard sale when I went off to college in 1990. The Ataris I have now were gifts from friends and recent purchases.
  4. It's after "hokey" but before "you shake it all about." Voch
  5. Are you in Texas? You gotta change your sig then. Voch
  6. Leave a spoon in what you're cooking and it'll do something like that Qotile explosion screen from Yar's Revenge. Sorry..forgive my humor. At least I gave this thread a free bump.
  7. Have you tried a local GameStop (searchable online by ZIP code) or E.B. Games? That's where I got mine, but admittedly it was a few months ago. Voch
  8. 8500. I'll never speak again about this kind of videogame brutality. Sheesh this game is HARD... Voch
  9. (Yeah...I know it's too late...just posing a question) I've been debating grabbing an old Apple IIc or clone for game playing but can't determine if it's possible to use a PC as a drive emulator like I can do with my Atari 8-bit (SIO2PC cable) will do with my Commodore 64 (X1541 cable). Anyone have any experience with that sort of stuff? Had I known if this was possible I woulda grabbed it... Voch
  10. PM sent! (everything I wanted to buy is gone ...I'll play my other 600+ carts )
  11. I have some arcade cabinet control goodies for trade after disassembling my replica arcade cabinet. The electronic stuff works great (I just tested 'em). The buttons and sticks have some wiring stubs still soldered to them but that stuff is easily removed. Send me a PM if you need stuff like this for a project. The control boards alone run $40USD each new and the trackball is a real arcade Wico model. TOP ROW: SOLD two firebuttons for the trackball Wico trackball with mouning plate and bolts/screws SOLD for trackball two 4-way joysticks with eight mounting screws BOTTOM ROW: SOLD for sticks/buttons with two mounting screws SOLD I-PAC USB cable twelve red fire buttons one blue button one green button one black button three yellow buttons one "player one" white button one "player two" white button click here for a bigger picture
  12. If you can open 'er up, try cleaning the power switch with contact cleaner. On the ColecoVision the switch has to make a discernable "click" when turning on and has to be clean for the console to work well...I assume the ADAM is the same way. It it works I may be interested in it sans printer and box (I'll just put it on my shelf with my other goodies) but with the printer cable (I'll hack a power supply). Of course if it works...you may just want to keep it and give the box to Xot. Voch
  13. You could also sell and ship it sans printer if someone can make their own hack power supply. +12V, -12V, +5V, and -12V to certain pins of the printer/power port oughta do it (see Section 6 of the ADAM technical manual). Voch

    Here's the FAQ. Voch
  15. I'd love to find one of these locally someday as they're always too much to ship. It's like sending someone a three-piece elephant (especially that printer/power supply). Worst case: you can sell/trade the parts (controllers, cartridges, keyboard, etc.). Voch
  16. Holy screamin' willies! You may put the joystick down and take a bow now. Voch
  17. Cool. I thought there was a signup or something, but that's probably for the point system. I just wanted to try one of these as I see 'em posted...well...every week. My secret weapon was realizing I was on my last life but I still had four power pellets left, so I ignored the dots and sacrificed my last life to just eat some more ghosts and get a few more points. I only got the vitamin pill once throughout the game, though. Sheesh that game gets hard starting at the third screen... Voch
  18. Are folks not in the HSC thingy allowed to post? I finally got some time tonight to play some of my collection and remembered this week's game. 3315. Not too shabby. I hate short power pills and running ghosts.
  19. Forgot to extend my thanks to maximebeauvais. My game and manuals came through wonderfully. Thanks a bunch. Voch
  20. I always referred to the Atari 2600 Donkey Kong fireballs as two-way chickens.
  21. Excellent. Thanks. Was there ever another NTSC release or is that it? I swear I've played this game (must've been in Stella). BTW...I did do a search like a good AtariAge member for this... Voch
